I used to go here a bunch 15 years ago and hadnt been in a while and decided to give it a swirl back in April. I really like the atmosphere of this place from the neon sign outside, to the open floor plan, to the writing on the wall above. The meal always starts out good with some corn bread and biscuits with honey. I dont normally like corn bread because it is too dry but this was so moist and tasty. Loved it. We asked what the most popular item was and was told Chicken Fried Steak and it was on special for $9.50 ($2.50 off). Wowzers, what a great deal! My friend really enjoyed his meal but he is from China and not a chicken fried steak connoisseur. The chicken fried steak is not great. Its not that big (but still a good deal) and it was severely overcooked. Much of the batter on the outside was burnt and it tasted a bit too salty. The gravy on the other hand was outstanding. All that being said, the chicken fried steak was still worthy of being eaten, but dont expect anything too great. My friend scarfed down the sweet potatoes which he said were great. I ordered the whipped potatoes which are essentially chunky mashed potatoes with cream gravy. The texture was nice and the taste was AMAZING. These may be the best potatoes Ive ever had. Thumbs up. My green beans were somewhat burnt and tasteless. Overall, this place is a mixed bag between mediocre and amazing. The prices are amazing though and I will certainly be bag in the future.

Summary? Its a phenomenal breakfast experience! We were blown away by the service, and it only got better as the morning went on. I dont know if the guy is the owner, manager, or what, but he acted like he knew us for years and we were just old friends. He treated every customer this way! So nice, and compliments like crazy. Definitely my favorite host of all time. The server was fantastic and JUST as nice! Seriously, the service here is second to none. Weve never been treated better... anywhere. After the stupendous greeting, we were even MORE blown away by the food! The food here is awesome. Just ... no words. You have to try this place. The omlette was fresh, the potatoes were awesome, and even the toast/biscuits are great! The wife got a veggie omlette which was jam packed with health, but seriously fantastic. I got the lotto omlette full of meat... because Im a dude, and dudes eat meat! At the end of the meal, I got the bill... holy crap. Great prices. Thats all Ive got to say about that. This place is definitely at the top of our list for weekend breakfast places! May try it for lunch sometime too! Food was outstanding, service was amazing, and prices were great. You definitely have to try this place out.

I have never in my life experienced such brazenly rude service. We wait at the bar since theres a wait for our table. I order a couple of mimosas and find that the glass has dried crust all inside and politely show the bartender and ask for another. He proceeds to freak out and just pour the contents of my glass into another glass, floating crusty things and all. I decide to bite my tongue and take the drink since I realize that this is not the type of person that can be reasoned with. He then starts talking trash bout how I complain about "his dishwashing skills" to another patron who orders a drink right next to me while I am sitting square in front of him at the bar. I am completely baffled by his behavior. Totally left a sour taste on this place and I will not be returning here even if this was the last place on earth that served a mimosa. Management needs to do something about the short, balding and rude bartender. This kind of service should not be acceptable, and I have a feeling that this was not the first and wont be the last that he behaves in such a manner.

Me and my family went their yesterday for dinner and my experience there was awful I have been going to this cafe for sometime now and there food has been great but the change in the menu is not good its too overpriced and the food is not good at all. I ordered a garden Burger which was not cooked properly and had no salt. My wife ordered the meatloaf plate which also tasted disgusting had no flavor at all I asked the waiter to get me a small serving of food for my 2 year old daughter but he told me I can order from the menu I mean she is not going to eat all the food anyways I rather pay for. Something she would enjoy. Our total came up to almost 50 dollars and I told. The waiter about the food all he said was oops and kept on walking. This is the last time I will ever go to This place ever. All the idea behind this menu is so their operations cost is low and charge the customer over the top prices. People of Oaklawn there are a lot better restaurants in the area do not go here its awful.

So I read a lot good reviews on Yelp about this place so I had to try it. For starters it is a classic Diner setting that is always enjoyable with an excellent staff that provides a good old fashion feel of genuine hospitality. So A++ on the costumer service part of this place. Unfortunately the food is lacking quality and flavor which are the most important part of a meal. I did see a few reviews stating this was a problem but decided to judge for myself and as a food consumer for at least a quarter century I have to say Im unhappy to say this place is not recommended as a stoping point for someone who wants a Good metal. I would have been much happier with the food at IHOP for breakfast. That being said it seems to target the older crowd and I think its an awesome place to remind people of how things used to be.

Lucky’s just isn’t the same any more. The meatloaf is no longer the delicious grilled slices. The cornbread muffins are like hockey pucks, but the biscuits were really good. My food was kinda “meh”, but my husband had the chicken tenders which were great. I wouldn’t mind paying the new prices, if the food was still consistently good. Our server was super nice and attentive but another employee was not very nice to me when I asked if I could take a condiment off the table where he was rolling silverware. I don’t know, maybe he was having a bad day, but he gave me a couple of dirty looks before we left. My husband and I have been going there for about 8 years, but lately…let’s just say, I don’t feel as welcome anymore, as a couple. We live far 30 miles away, but we probably won’t be making this trek anymore.

This place is fantastic. The freshest and most delicious chicken I have ever eaten. Biscuits and cornbread was wonderful. Fresh okra, I could go on and on. The honey on the table was yummy. I ate here with my inlaws--all senior citizens. We ordered a range of menu items, from veggie omelets to chicken fried steak, chicken strips, chicken salad, breakfast plate. All of us where very pleased with the food. This place caters to all ages and demographics. I saw young couples, elderly couples, groups of families, business men, etc. The parking is pretty difficult and the surrounding streets are hard to manage for someone from the suburbs, but it is worth it! Farm to Table menu...I highly recommend Luckys!-The best chicken, cooked many ways. Delicious, Delicios, Delicious!
