Origami is the greatest! I have tried EVERY sushi restaraunt in Corpus Christi, and hands down, this is the finest. I have been going here every chance I get for 5 years, and there really is no comparison. The sushi chef (Taka, short for Takagi(his last name)) will remember regular customers by name, and he lives by the Japanese tradition of honor. I consider it a great privelege to go here, and always tip not only the gracious wait staff but also the chef himself. He remembers this, and every plate I recieve from him always includes something extra and special. In regards to the food, the sushi pieces and rolls are much larger than anything youll get elsewhere, yet they are still much cheaper. The "menu food" is also quite delicious, and even the new sushi eaters who seem to get cream cheese (ack!) on everything can find a nice corner booth to enjoy their dinner. The atmosphere is quaint, as any artistic venue should be, with dim lighting and a staff that is more like family. Youll find none of the Americanized crap here that you so often find in our sushi restaraunts because this one is actually owned and operated by a straight-from-Japan chef. I have recently moved away from Corpus, but will always remember this place and its people for the wonder that they are. Certainly a diamond in the pile of sand that is Corpus cuisine.

Best Sushi in America! Ive visited sushi bars in just about every city I vacation to, and I cannot find a single one better than Origami. The food there is amazing and their tempura shrimp is orgasmic. However, there are a couple downsides about this place. The food takes awhile to be served to you and their sushi is usually quite pricy (But worth it). Normally I could go to another sushi bar and order 2 pieces of sushi for the price of 1. All in all though, I love this place. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very calm. It isnt hectic like some Asian restaurants where you have little kids running around and eating crap their parents brought in from McDonals just to shut them up. I have yet to see a toddler screaming and crying in Origami. Overall, I highly recommend this establishment! :-)

This place is well outdated with wood paneling, old furniture, and cassette tapes on the walls. The sushi bar is exposed and is cluttered with papers and random knick knacks. The old man making the sushi has seamed to lost his passion for making sushi as an art. The food was warm where it should be cold and cold where it should be warm. The fish was cut very thick and warm making it hard to eat. The sushi was smashed from his heavy hand assembling the food. Just by looking at my food I could tell he has gotten lazy and tired from assembling the sushi. I could not finish my rolls due to warm rice and fish. The service was simple and adequate. Will not return and highly dont recommend.

so I found this place, well my date did. it is a hidden little place, very nice cold and dark. it was Wednesday, but it was a busy night for them, we waited quite a while, only 2 waitress so even for the drinks we waited. but after waiting a lot... the food compensated the wait. the waitress was really nice, the food was great, we order this weird named sushi rolls and other fish i was adventurous and I cant remember the name but was great. sake was super as well. I recommend this place, if busy be prepared to wait, but its worth it.

The place is on the smaller side compared to other sushi places in the city. For me, this is a big plus. The atmosphere is nice and cozy and service friendly. The rolls are much cheaper than at other sushi places around and are just as good if not better. The place closes at 9:30 which is a bit early. Food normally takes about 20-30 minutes to come out once you have ordered. They have been open for lunch for the last few months too but I havent had the chance to go in at lunch time. Also, try the green tea as it is great.

This place blows. I have had sushi from the Atlantic to the Pacific and all over in between. Terrible...and I mean Terrible service, small portions and they charge you for every refill of soda..$1.50 a piece. And they fail to tell you that when they ask if you would like a refill. The pathway to the bathroom smells terrible...like a stale rotting moldy house. My suggestion...anywhere else. Hell go to whataburger. Or jump in the ocean, grab a fish and take a bite..at least the service will be better.

Ordered 4 different rolls. They were served warm, cut supper thick, and weren’t sliced all the way through on 3 of them… had to pull them apart. The “cold” sushi was warm and rather chewy and the cooked sushi (eel and tempura shrimp) were room temp and chewy as well. Stomached 5 pieces and left the rest for $50 (drank tea and lemonade). Nothing tasted fresh. Not impressed and will not be going back.

While the sushi and the broiled fish were fine the service was terrible. It took 1 hour and 15 min to be served our meals (3) with only 4 other tables occupied. The waitress was not attentive and I consistently had to ask other waiters/waitresses for help. This establishment is overrated.

It seemed very authentic. The food and service was good enough. One wall is covered with Polaroid photos of customers. The main, old chef guy seemed to have friendships with regular customers who sat at the bar. The place was old, and it showed, but still very clean and nice.

This place made me fall in love with sushi. Great atmosphere, great food, decent prices. The wait to get sushi is never to bad. Friday nights are usually the only times when it takes longer then normal to get your order but its worth the wait.

It was NOT the best. I travel a lot and decided to check this place out because of recent reviews. I was really disappointed when my miso soup was microwaved right in front of me. If you are in Corpus check out somewhere else.

The Sushi is fresh and yummy. The Staff is awesome. I love Taka and AT (the Owners) they are fantastic. Udon is so yummy. I always get Suno Mono Octo and the Wayne Handroll and the Wasabi Flying Fish Roe and the Salmon Skin.

Outstanding sushi. Una Don (eel) is excellent. Really enjoyed the Uni. Rice today was particularly good. All sushi is tasty and true to Japanese taste and flavors. Best restaurant for sushi in entire coastal region.

The fish is the best! Compared to any other sushi in the city, this was the best! It was prepared in traditional style without all sauces. Also, cozy and great service.

Cozy sushi bar with a Master Sushi Chef Mr. T. The deluxe shashimi is fresh and delicious while attractively presented.
