A couple Latino coworkers highly recommended this place. My family and I disagree with their assessment, and figure one of three things: 1) They have a cultural bias ("Its Mexican, so its great.") 2) They were treated better because of race. 3) They had a different waitstaff AND a different cook. Speculations aside, I was not at all impressed. Coming in the door, theres no sign indicating customers should seat themselves or wait to be seated. Apparently were supposed to seat ourselves. (Now you know.) Drinks and chips/salsa were brought promptly, and the drinks were good sized portions. Two servings of chips and salsa were adequate for six people. The food took an average amount of time, but struggles to reach even mediocre quality. Rice was dry, tortillas tasted off, gordita was flavorless unless you count "greasy" as a flavor. Salsa for the chips was runny with tiny chunks. Enchiladas were decent, but not great. Two days later, Im finding out just how bad the food actually was. You dont want details. Price came to about $60 for four adults and two children. That puts it in the range of "average to slightly expensive". Considering the portions were average by American standards, and of a quality described above, theyre not worth the price. This earns them three stars. The lack of service coming in the door lost them one. My recommendation? Find someplace else to eat. A friend mentioned to me that place should not be on the 78. Happy dining!

I grew up in SA and there is more than your fair share of Mexican food here. This is a great place for some good Mexican food. This is the kind of Mexican food the tourists dont know about. Well let them keep to MI Tierra and all the downtown restaurants. If you are a tourist and want to know a hole in the wall restaurant that offers great Mexican food. This is the place. Dont think that because I didnt rate it as a 5 its not good. I reserve my five ratings for food so good you dont want to swallow. So a four is very good.

Great local Mexican Restaurant with an authentic feel. Chips and salsa are on par and taste great. Serving sizes are more than enough for one person who is hungry. Veggies arrived freshly cut and crispy. Service was spot on and quick. Bathrooms were clean and smelled like they were just cleaned. Overall I would recommend. Pricing was average and the menu had plenty of options with pictures in case you did not know what you were reading.

Since I left San Diego and had to live without my favorite Albertos California Burritos Ive been on a personal quest to find a replacement for those heavenly delights. Dos Jalisco is the closest Ive come to matching a California Burrito. Theyre also fast and relatively inexpensive. Overall Id highly recommend giving them a try. If youre in town from SoCal, this is the closest youre going to get to what youre used to.

Ordered to-go. Crispy taco plate. 3 tacos and a side of rice and beans. Beans and rice were perfect. Taco shells were also great. The ground beef was traditional picadillo style with carrots and potatoes. However the price was steep. $8.12 total. No tea. No tortillas. No silverware or salt&pepper packets. And only one 2 ounce salsa. However that been said, its the only decent place within 3-5 mins.

one of the best jaliscos I have eaten at. The breakfast tacos are all made fresh, they are hot and the eggs are cooked perfectly. the place is busy but they still manage to take care of you in the morning like it wasnt even busy. I will be returning here more often before work and on the weekends! And the prices are really good!

Great breakfast. Tortillas taste homemade and the menudo was very tender and very good. The barbacoa was delicious and wasnt full of grease and fat. Just right. It was packed and now I can see why. Service was attentive even though they were jam packed. I never had to wait for a refill. I will definitely be back to this place.

Super popular, tons of people. Great refried beans, cheese enchiladas, beef crispy tacos with potatoes in the meat, menudo, and chips n salsa. Good service. You stand in line to pay at counter once done. DIRTY BATHROOMS. PEE BEFORE YOU GET THERE

True Mexican soul-food restaurant. Best in Converse/Universal City area. Portions are large. Prices are comparatively lower. And lunch specials are crazy cheap. And remember, seat yourself and pay at register. Its the south-of-the-border way!

I am a "regular" patron at this restaurant. Casual atmosphere, service and food good, with occasional lapse by kitchen or wait staff. Groups, families, couples, singles, and local police all show up to enjoy the good food and casual atmosphere.

Not bad at all. I would go back, but nothing amazing. I would give 3.5 stars if it were an option. The tripas were some of the best Ive had though. So that was definitely a high point if you like tripe. Wish they had beer though.

I liked that the menudo didnt taste bad as most restaurants do, a bit undercooked but good. The service was great but its best to understand a little Spanish. The downside is that its almost impossible to find parking

It is by far one of the best Mexican food restaurants I have eaten while visiting San Antonio. The food had a good authentic Mexican taste and the staff is very courteous and always checking on their customers.
