San Antonios best BBQ. What To Order: Moist/Fatty Brisket Plate Everyone knows about Austins Franklins BBQ, Roundrocks nearby Louie Muellers, and Lockharts Blacks and Smittys BBQ. But many people dont know about San Antonios Texas Pride BBQ, which I feel is not only as good or better than Lockharts BBQ places, but up there quality wise with Franklins and Louie Muellers which are considered some of the best BBQ in Texas. If your a BBQ fanatic this is a place you have to visit. What makes this place even better in my opinion is that they offer a wide variety of sides in addition to the amazing brisket. The cheesy potatoes are awesome, and the one item that will finish off your meal perfectly is the pecan cobbler. One of the best pecan cobblers Ive had. As for the brisket, if youve never eaten at a BBQ place like this, they should ask "Lean of Moist" when you order, your answer will determine what slice of meat you get. If they dont ask, let them know what you want, or chances are you will get lean meat. If you like your meat with some marbling, some fat around the edges, juicy and moist, which is what I think makes brisket amazing, you want the "Moist" meat. Texas pride serves their food wrapped in paper, take it to the table, unwrap it and grab some pickles, sweet or spicy BBQ sauce and onions from the bar in the dining area and enjoy your meal. On the opposite side of recommendations, the German potato salad is not the traditional german potato salad that is warm, with pickles, vinegar & sugar in it. Instead this is a cold potato salad with mayo and redskin potatos, and the cream corn seems to have jalapeno juice or something in it that gives it a pickled sour flavor. If its not meant to taste that way, I got some bad cream corn. But the others eating with me agreed the flavor was off. After you eat here you can decide for yourself, I feel its hands down the BBQ in San Antonio, and up there with the top places in Texas.

OMG!!! If I could give this place more stars I would!!! Where do I start??? This place is the BBQ Mecca!!!! If there is a heaven it must be here at Texas Pride. I have eaten my fair share of Texas BBQ and have tasted quite a bit of good BBQ and some not so good!!! But this BBQ for me is the best that I can even imagine. The ribs, sausage and brisket are just melt in your mouth good. The bark on the brisket is the most devine thing I have ever tasted. The ribs are the most tender I have ever tasted and the sausage has such a flavor blend that just cant find anything wrong with it. Some sausage has a taste that I cant describe that is not pleasant but this sausage is moist and juicy and so good!!! None of their meats needs sauce but I am a sauce kind of person and this sauce is so good and doesnt over power anything but just adds another level of flavor. Their sides are just an added bonus!!! Great cheezy potatoes and outstanding clow slaw which are staples for me and the peach cobbler is to die for!!! All in all it is a very good thing that I dont live close To Texas Pride because I would be here nightly!!! Wish I could come on Fish Fry Night but we never get into town before they close!!! All in all this is the best BBQ anywhere and I would be hard pressed to say that anyone else is better!!! Keep up the GREAT JOB TEXAS PRIDE!!!

SAVE THE DRIVE AND YOUR $$. Not worth your time. The sausage was rubbery and the potatoes in the potato salad were hard. Cheap stale bread that falls apart.Tasteless beans were the only thing worth eating. But hey weve all come across a place or two not worth revisiting. Live and Learn. What will never let me patronize this establishment ever again was an experience having nothing to do with their food. About a year ago there was a horrific accident right in front of this place. It was a father and daughter who lost their lives while waiting for cross traffic so they could enter onto their parking lot. They were traveling on a motorcycle when hit from behind. The father who was taking his daughter there for her birthday. He was killed on impact but the daughter was thrown further down. Horrific enough. She was then ran over and killed by a second vehicle. Both vehicles sped off . witnesses say. Gang related was the rumor. OK, I believe in God and Justice. I will let that be. This establishment didnt have the heart and respect to cancel the damn band whose music never stopped!! We pulled into the parking lot and witnessed this first hand. Let me mention we were coming home from a football game. Buses full of kids, fans and families had to take this route too to get home...Take a drive down to Luling if its bbq you want.

Walk in, wait in line, meat is cut to order. Prices are a little higher than expected. I paid $10 for a brisket sandwich meal. Everything else seemed over priced. I did not get a plate and try all meats so my review is exclusive to their chopped beef. They smoke all their meet with mesquite, one of the only BBQ places I’ve found that uses Mesquite. The chopped beef sandwich was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was a little sweet because of the BBQ sauce, but it was still very good. The BBQ sauce did not, however, taste like ketchup as I’ve seen noted on here. My side was cheesy mashed potatoes. They were subpar and only a little warm. The tea was just ok. There are other attractions here apparently: a “burnout cage”, a playground for kids, and perhaps a theater type area (I’ve seen in other reviews)? We went for lunch and none of this was open. I get the impression that’s a nightly thing. They also have an area for ice cream and smoothies, but no one was there. Upon asking the cashier how to get a smoothie he replied, “Someone should be there”. We hung around for another minute then just left. It was worth the 5-10 minute detour on the way to San Antonio and I’ll go again to try other meats (and give them another shot). Self serve Instant food (unless there’s a line) Plenty of parking Plenty of tables Air conditioned

I Have read some of the reviews that werent very positive, and had reservations on going. But the fact is always-on a quest to find good barbecue. Theres lots of barbecue in Texas but not all barbecue is good. We arrive to between lunch and dinner which seemed to be the perfect time there was no crowd at all, and the fact it was on a Wednesday might contribute a little bit to that. We have the meal for 2 which actually said 3 of us myself, my wife and son. I had just a little left over for my lunch the next day. We chose lean brisket Chicken and sausage as our meats and then our sides were green beans mashed potatoes Mac and cheese and coleslaw. We were not disappointed! It was all very good. We have finally found a place That is fairly close to us With good barbecue. The décor is rustic and man cave like. We loved it. We had no problems like other people exclaimed. It was just a good afternoon barbecue lunch and Id go and do it again and again and again. I cant say anything to the naysayers that wrote negative comments, I wasnt there with them on that day they had their episode. But Ill say again that our meal today was very good.
