Food is okay but not alot of choices. Three of our group wanted fish so we were fine, but my daughters only other choice were chicken fingers which she said was just okay. The fish was pretty good, but it just wasnt my favorite. The decor was interesting and gave us something to look at and talk about while waiting for our food. The staff was also super nice. They ran out of coffee and one person there expected me to make the coffee myself. When I couldnt find the filters, another guy came around the counter and started it for me. Even though I do know how to make coffee, I would prefer not to have to when Im eating out. Afterall, I can grill a burger too, but wouldnt expect to at a restaurant either.

I honestly think this is the best option in Memphis for fried catfish. Heres why... Great Value: you order at the counter so you dont have to factor in a tip. Go on a Wednesday and its all-you-can-eat. Super Fast: typically up in 10 minutes or less. Also plenty of seats so Ive never had to wait. Always Hot: fried on demand. Great Tarter: not too sweet and always fresh-n-cold. Hot Sauce: yes X 2. Fresh Onions: all you want and you dont even have to ask. Put it all together and its perfectamundo for me. ... Oh and dont forget its owned by the Flying Saucer so they will validate parking. That means you can park in the garage for $1. Deal.

This place was a hidden jackpot! We went July 31, 16. I have to say dont be put off by the wall of fishes! The menu looks bland and boring but it doesnt do the food justice. I thought the food was going to be good, but I didnt know it was going to be that flavorful and delicious. We got grilled salmon and snapper with the veggies. I promise you this place is worth the parking if you cant find any for free! We also tried oysters for the 1st time, and I admit they look disgusting and the texture scared me but with a cracker and some cocktail and hot sauce those were good too. If you are like us dont get more than 6 for 2 people.

It had been a while since I had eaten at Flying Fish, but I had always loved their fish tacos, and when a Groupon for them came up, I was enticed to return. My husband and I visited the restaurant on a Friday evening. Service was prompt, the employees were pleasant, the tables were clean, and most of all, the food was delicious. Fish tacos (catfish) were still tasty, with generous amount of pico de gallo with them. My husband got the baked catfish that came with grilled squash/zucchini and beans n rice. We shared an order of fried oysters, which were decently sized. Overall we enjoyed our experience and will be back again!!

We picked this place when we visited memphis due to all the good reviews. The food was good, but Ive had same or better. The employees were very nice and made me a fresh pot of coffee right away when i asked. My daughter was with us but doesnt eat fish or seafood and her only other option was chicken fingers which she didnt really care for. Kind of limited menu, but if youre in the mood for fried fish or seafood, its a nice place to go. I did really like all the decor on the walls. It was interesting and gave me something to look at and talk about while waiting for our food.

Went in on a Sunday shortly after they opened. Chose the Fish Tacos with catfish & fries as my side. Everything I had was prepared fresh. I thought the tacos were done very well. Corn tortilla, slaw, pico & catfish made a really good fish taco. Fries were an unimaginative choice on my part. Nothing special or awful about them. If I go again, I will try a different side. The reason for 3 stars instead of 4? Price. I ate by myself, sad I know, & along with the tacos, I added a soda. Overall total was in excess of $15. Get down to near $10 & youd have something.

This was not the usual type of restaurant that we frequent. Were used to typical Italian food like spaghetti & meatballs, but that was not even on the menu. We had reviewed their onine menu, which included a lobster pasta dish, but were told the menu changes frequently and that dish was not available. If you post an online menu would suggest it accurately reflect what is available. Server tried to steer us to a multi course option, but not what we were interested in and was not listed online. Great atmosphere, excellent desserts and coffee.

excellent experience...this is the perfect downtown "patio" type place, great prices and walk up ordering...we had the tilapia tacos and they were wonderful, with grilled veggies on the side...frozen margaritas are better than any local mexican places and you will only need one...perfect drink to compliment the great flavors..they have a boiled shrimp special on friday nights that seemed very popular...get there early or you will be standing up to eat !!

Really enjoyed AM where we were celebrating a special occasion with friends ... well, until we left. While holding the door for my wife as we utilized the very cluttered wheelchair accessible exit, two employees "horsing around" blasted through the kitchen door and clobbered us! A cut eyebrow was met with laughs and thats about it other than a bag of ice I requested. Need to work on the restaurants access and some employees etiquette.

Friendly employees, great food that is made to order. Dont have to wait long for your food. Hubby loved his fried catfish and shrimp. I had a good cheese burger. Our french fries were hot and crispy and more than I could eat. The key lime pie was excellent. The was no fish smell or greasy smell inside like some fish places have. The only thing I ask for them to add a dipping cheese for the French fries.

This was THE WORST FISH, I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!! SOME CO-WORKERS I DECIDED TO ORDER HERE TODAY. I GOT A PO- BOY CATFISH, ANOTHER ORDER SOME CATFISH PLATE AND SOMEONE ELSE ORDERED AN OYSTER SALAD (SHE WAS PLEASED WITH HER SALAD) BUT THE CO-WORKER WHO ORDERED THE CATFISH PLATE AND I, WAS TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED with the catfish we ordered. The catfish was SOGGY, COLD, AND BLAND.. JUST TASTELESS!!

Ive eaten lunch at Flying Fish hundreds of times over the last 3 yrs. The food is consistently fresh and well prepared. And they have an excellent lunch hamburger special on Thursdays. There are also plenty of healthy eating options every day of the week. Cold beer, self serve soda machine well cleaned - if you work downtown, FF should be a staple in your lunch regimen.

This place is one special gem! The service was absolutely brilliant, we had a lovely waitress named Emma who was so sweet. I had the Elk Chop, accompanied by Macaroni & Cheese and this was delectable. We finished off with the Chocolate Flight, an assortment of three different desserts all heavily influenced by chocolate. Even thought all sweets were amazing,...

My wife and I are from New Orleans and have been in Memphis for a year. The Flying Fish has the worst seafood I have ever had in my entire life and my wife agrees. I can only assume that the good reviews are the owners of the restaurant or people that dont know good seafood. I will never go back even if someone else was paying. The food is just horrible.
