Let me first say that Bardog WAS a favorite spot of mine. I like to go there at least once a month and grab some drinks and a bite to eat. The service has always been great too. However, last Friday we went in to celebrate a birthday. If you have been in there you know the bar is tiny and standing room only on weekend nights. We were sitting at the banquette on the right side minding our own business when out of nowhere the manager approached our table. He was smoking a cigarette and came up behind my chair and put both his arms around me and pushed the table back. Then he walked off. Everyone at my table including the tables next to us were like "Whats his problem?" Then I guess he was eavesdropping because he came back and yelled "you dont have to be a b*tch about it, I am trying to run a business here". I am beyond mad. All 5 of us are bartenders in midtown and we would never treat a customer like that. He could have politely asked for us to move our table up some and we would have happily done so, but instead he was a complete jerk. The server apologized but still I will not be back. When I spend money in an establishment, I expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. If I treated a customer like that I would not have a job.

The still employ assholes. Its starting to look like the problem is coming from the top, MANAGEMENT. Any credibility Bar Dog earns with its unique and delicious approach at bar food goes out the window when SERVICE comes to the table. I have visited this bar on numerous occasions and the food it self is always spot on, while the service is consistently lacks any respect. During the most recent visit the bar tender refused to close out my tab since I didnt purchase the quantity of drinks he considered adequate. After four attempts at getting him to close the tab (having him ignore me with rolling eyes), I had to go to a waitress. He went on to try and embarrass me (as a paying customer i mind you) in front of the other patrons. It has become apparent this bar is interested in nothing more than filling the doors with seasonal tourists, caring nothing about a recurring client base, which is fine, all of my friends and I will find other places to go.

In Memphis on business all the time. This is in my top 5 places for food. Looks like a typical bar but the guys in the kitchen arent foolin around. Their Chicken velvet soup is a 2 year award winning and delicious meal all on itself! Its like a chicken pot pie w/o the crust. Devine! Weve eaten almost everything on their menu and I just cant say one bad thing. They really care about putting out fresh and tasty food, even the apps. Greg, bartender, is just a great guy. We didnt catch the names of a few guys in the kitchen that we talked to but they were great too. Came to check on the food and see how we were doing. Their downstairs is indeed non smoking. We prefer the bar, we like to meet people and talk to the staff. This is definitely a place where you, "dont judge a book by its cover." Highly recommended ☆☆☆☆☆ Big shout out to Jack and Panda (Amanda)! Just some of our Memphis family ♡

Ive always loved Bardog. The food is great, Aldo (owns Aldos pizzas and Slider Inn) knows how to make a good place with a great menu. I get take out from there sometimes and Im always happy. Late hours, compared to the rest of Downtown, and the guys know what theyre doing. For those that complain about smoking: 1) Bardog is NOT the only place that always smoking indoors, most of Beale Street and a couple of other bars of Main allow it too but 2) what those dont offer, that Bardog does, is a downstairs non-smoking area that is quite lovely. Everything that Ive had there, and at Aldos, is amazing. You cant go wrong with anything! The staff there is awesome too, Aldo knows how to run his business well.

Our friend (38 years old) walked into this bar on a Friday night with 2 - 37 year olds and his wife (with the same address). The bouncer took his ID away and said it was a fake (definitely not the case) and was not going to give it back to him. We said we were going to call the police if he was not going to give our friend his ID back. We actually had to wait for a manager to VERIFY our IDs before they gave his ID back. It was a terrible experience. I definitely would not recommend this bar. I will definitely not be going back.

Bardog is a great neighborhood bar, but the one thing that keeps me from going is the smoking. The place reeks with smoke and when you leave you reek with smoke. You cant enjoy your food when someone next to you is blowing smoke on you. I find it odd that Aldo, that has done so much for downtown and St Jude in there fight against child cancer, would allow smoking ,that is a proven cause of cancer and heart problems in adults. No other bar in this area allows smoking why bardog?

Waitress got annoyed that we were relaxing and drinking beer. She tried to take a table from us (we had a group of 6, were waiting on 3 more that were about 5 minutes away). She said "when are they going to be here? Because yall have been here for a while...." so if you want to relax, dont go here. If you want to be rushed and have a pissy waitress, go here. Had decent experiences before, but we probably wont take groups of friends here anymore.

You will be surprised at how good the food is. From the outside, it definitely looks like a typical dive bar, but the food is delicious. We started out with the breakfast shot, which does taste like you just ate breakfast. Make sure to eat the bacon! I got the wrap, but everything at our table was delicious. On a side note, the Bar Dog 5K is a great event downtown, and the location cant be beat!

It looks like a bar - and it is, but it is so much more. The food is fresh, high quality and expertly prepared. A grade above typical Memphis bar fare. Good food for your money. The down stairs (the subterranian "Underdog") is smoke free and one the best lunch locations Downtown. Great music, always a decent selection of craft beers on tap and attentive staff. I believe it is 18 and over only.

Stayed in Memphis for over a month and this place became a local haunt of ours. It definitely has a different mix of people depending on the night. Downstairs is much more of a young crowd where as upstairs is your classic clean-dive bar feel. The food was great and the bartenders were nice. It is a nice mix of college bar and dive bar and I mean that in the best way possible.

Have to admit, I had low expectations about eating in a bar but the food is excellent. There are some inexpensive sliders (burgers) and appetizers on the menu but they also have nicer items like steak and shrimp. I had the shrimp alfredo with a rich creamy sauce. Open kitchen and clean. Has a nice downstairs too since it does get crowded later in the evenings.
