I visited Stoney River on 12/5/2015, arriving at 5:00 PM. I normally sit at the bar, which provides me quick access to seating and Im able to get through my meal without a lot of delays (table, crowds, Holiday, etc). I order red wine and usually a meal or salad with appetizer. My last two experiences at SR have been less than positive, unfortunately with the same two bartenders (both female). The bartenders this evening were more interested in running their mouths and complaining about a person named John, rather than waiting on their customers. Although I got my first glass of wine right away, I had to beg them to take the rest of my orders. I actually had to interrupt their 30th gab session, standing right in front of me, in order to get a salad. And this was after sitting there 15 to 20 minutes with my menu closed looking right at them. They never once (during my meals) came over to ask how the food was or if I needed anything else. I had to flag them down again to get the appetizer and my last glass of wine. My appetizer arrived and I didnt have any utensils, which I had to flag them down to acquire. I understand that companies are now dealing with these lazy millennials that dont have the first clue regarding hard work or true customer service. Recommendation: When you have poor performing staff such as these two bartenders, split them up with experienced staff and set workflow and performance expectations. The art of bar tending and customer service has been misplaced over the years. On a positive note, my salad & appetizer was excellent, and the wine was very good. The spicy cocktail sauce was great, which had a hit of horseradish (wonderful). I hope this review helps.

First visit to Stoney River. We walked in the door and was greeted nicely. We were told the wait would be 70-80 minutes. We were okay with this because it was the busy time. After 70 minutes then 80 minutes we still were not seated. It took the bartender to apologize for our wait and said we could eat there but my husband and I explained we could have eaten up at the counter in front of the kitchen but we wanted to have a quiet meal at a nice table. He got the manager and the manager first said well you were only waiting 83 minutes and I looked at my watch to tell him no it was 12 minutes after 80 minutes. The manager then said well I will have to check that. He also said well if you had called in for a reservation not today but yesterday we could have seated you because we have call in people that get tables first!! Wow great response from a Manager. Why were we not told this when we walked in and was told 70 to 80 minutes. Then the table that was given to us was right in the bar area, a booth not a table just a few feet away from the counter in front of the kitchen where we could have sat earlier but again we wanted a nice quiet meal together!! The manager tried to comp. us with an appetizer (not of our choice) to find we did not have 2 sets of silverware. I had to go to the bar area to finally ask for silverware, again to an apology. It was definitely not the experience we were expecting. The only pleasant time was the bartender Drew and the sweet waitress we had. We definitely will not go back to this restaurant.

Let me start by saying this is an edit of a previously 5 star review that was posted after frequenting this establishment since moving here... BE WARNED. The long list of excellent reviews come from people who visited before these changes were made. Stoney River is being managed by J. Alexanders now, and theyre making many unwelcome changes. Several dishes have been changed for the worse, or removed entirely from the menu. "Parmesan Steak Fries" became "Shoestring fries". "Steak Salad" which served with Bib lettuce and chimichurri sauce, was removed from the menu entirely. The service is not as good as it used to be. Used to bring steaks to table, and wait for the first cut so that customer can confirm that the food was cooked as it was ordered. Never once did I ever have an issue with my steak being under or overcooked. They no longer do this, steaks are often undercooked now. They have remodeled. The soft, ambient, romantic, snug, welcoming environment is now gone. If we wanted J. Alexanders we would have gone there for dinner... they are right across the street.

Went this past Sunday. This would have been a 5 star, 5 stars for the waiter, he was very attentive and was wonderful...negative 4 stars for the tummy ache we had all night long and diarrhea the following day and into Tuesday...also I had left overs .. I kid u not, Monday night when I took them from my frig the food was molded...quality food does not mold food in 24 hours no wonder my husband and I where feeling poorly....use extreme caution our meal was over 100 for 2 and we had the ribeye steaks...I am done here I will never go back; serving meat that is covered in mold in 24 hours is not exceptable and means they r using expired meat thats on its last leg. We could have gotten really sick over this businessbeing cheap and acting stupidity...they put a nice crust on the meat imo its to hide the true fact that the meat is on its last leg. A ribeye does not need a crusted sear , its to hide the meats true flavor imo...just use caution if u ignore my warning and think I am full of it...being food poisoned is not a joke.

We have tried all the big-name steakhouses in the Nashville area, and Stoney Rivers steaks are still #1. We love how they always ask us to cut into our steak when they bring us our dinners, and the manager makes his rounds consistently, always genuinely asking how our meals are. Though the food is always good, we have had some misses when it comes to service. To be fair, I think it was the same waiter each time, a tall skinny guy with glasses. I think he was just very scatter-brained (you know the type). We asked all night for the rolls, and finally got them in time for dessert. He kept saying the kitchen was out of rolls, but other tables around us were getting them, so I just dont think his timing was right in getting back to the kitchen to scoop up the fresh ones. We told the manager all this the last time we were there, and he seemed very interested in our feedback. Theres one lady there with short, blonde hair who always gives us great service... I think her name is Laura?

Ive eaten at this restaurant several times. I made reservations for Saturday evening. I was seated in a booth and promptly sat in a PUDDLE of water left on the seat. The back of my dress was wet. I asked for a towel and was told to use my napkin.....which i did. My dinner companion ordered a vodka & tonic....the tonic was flat on not only the first, but the second drink. Our food came out so quickly, I had my appetizer, my salad, and my entree in front of me all at the same time. I HATE THAT!!! My dinner companions steak was so tough it was barely possible to cut through it. We informed our server, who gladly offered a replacement. It was much better, but in a steak house, you dont expect sub par meat. No offer of compensation was offered......I would have at least expected the offer of a dessert or coffee for our inconvenience. We would have declined. We werent there to get something free. Quite dissapointing. I doubt Ill return.
