The Plantation is "southern cooking" buffet-style restaurant (what Shoneys lunch and dinner should be...) that has a "very rustic" and "home-y" feeling. While I cant say how the Plantation compares to Dales Steakhouse since I havent been there but I hear the price point is pretty good in comparison (Dales Steakhouse at one point boasted of "an all you can eat seafood & steak" nights at around $45-50 a person and my last Sunday lunch total at The Plantation was about $26 for two people) but "on par" when compared to other buffets near by like Mings Court and possibly Sisters Restaurant. I havent been to Sisters (another Southern soul food establishment) so I also cant compare it as well (unfortunately) but I can say for damn sure that The Plantation is about THREE steps above the now defunct "Farmers Restaurant" and maybe one step below Cracker Barrel. I guess the major difference... other than the fact that Cracker Barrel is an established chain restaurant and The Plantation Restaurant isnt is that the latter is a buffet so youll obviously get more for your dollar while the former is of better quality. For perspective, The Plantation Restaurants food tastes like your "grandmother" cooked it, which helps add to the homey feeling of the restaurant; Cracker Barrels food would be like if "Martha Stewart" and "Paula Deen" were your aunt and grandmother and "they cooked it". In retrospect, thinking about The Plantation Restaurant, one might say that the interior décor seems reminiscent of Cracker Barrel (see my photos) but I would argue thats not the case. The Plantation has its own rustic and harvest inspired atmosphere and I think it works well for it. The staff is friendly and only one particular time did we have an "absent waitress" and that was because she was actually really busy so that is easily forgiven. Since I have written about the food quality, staff, and atmosphere, Ill go ahead and address the "elephant in the room". The name "Plantation" conjures up feelings of deep sentiments (on both "sides") and Ill admit that I fell prey to such thinking and Im not afraid to say that as an African-American, there is none of that "nonsense" there. There isnt anything to suggest that it would have that type of atmosphere; There arent any "humble" house workers and the Virgina Minstrels arent performing "slave melodies" so dont be afraid. As "a matter of fact" the only "slaves" there are the capitalists "wage slaves" so be please tip those hard working people more than 2%, we tip 10%; maybe we all should....

This is a good restaurant. The staff are professional and courteous. They have alot of seating. I have never had to wait to be seated. They have a wide selection of foods on their buffet to choose from. Would be nice if it were more devided such as large booths down one side or something for a more private and intimate feel. The ambiance is that of a caffateria that is wide open with alot of tables. They have what appear to be a stage but I havent seen a live music performance. That would be cool. It is a large restaurant with plenty of seating and alot of standard good food. Can get pricey for a larger family. I have a family of five and it was $75 tip included. I enjoy taking the family out to eat because its a good way for us to have a meal together without all the prep and cleaning just enjoying the company of eachother. The food is alittle better than ponderosa. But ponderosa is $25 cheaper for my whole family to eat there. I think they have a great selection of deserts. Wishing the salad bar was a wider selection. They got the deserts! If they had a bar and a music performer with a better salad bar they would Dominate the competition. Thanks for all you do. Ill definitely be a return customer.

Everything on the buffet is delicious. A lot of it is home made. The peach cobbler is insanely good. The pulled pork is nice and juicy with a great taste. All the country cooking your craving is here and priced at a bargain considering its buffet style. Monday- Friday it is only $9.99 and $12.99 from Friday dinner until Sunday brunch.

Reminds me of being in school... Nothing is seasoned. Great amount of food to choose from...but, just too bland. The service & atmosphere is great! Especially love that they recognize our Veterans & the Elderly. That in itself will keep me going back to support them.

Very good food! Large variety of meats, vegetables, salad bar, and dessert bar. Everything is fresh and hot on the buffet bar. The servers are polite and prompt. It is very clean. The restrooms are clean too. It is a very large seating restaurant.

I absolutely detest buffets, but this place is wonderful! The food taste like it was actually cooked from scratch and by a real person, not from a box or out of a bag that sat in a freezer. Highly recommend!

Food was good. But the service was horrible. The place is not extremely busy. But they only had 2 people working the floor on Valentines Day. This is my first time here and it will be the last Im sure.

The food here is great. Just good Country down home food. We love to eat here. I have never been there when it was crowded but there is always a great assortment of food on the bar.

Poor service....food is alright. Have had better at McDonalds. Went to pay and no one knew who our server was, no ticket, drinks filled just before we left which was pointless.

Clean friendly environment. Seems to be family oriented and show much respect for our American Service Members, Military, Law Enforcement and First Responders. A must visit!

Food was a little sparse on the buffet bar. Catfish needed some more seasoning. The dessert bar needed a little bit more the only good thing was banana pudding and ice cream.
