Horrible experience both times we went. We were hoping it was because they just opened and decided to give them a second chance tonight. I will focus this rating on tonights experience only. First problem is we were seated at a table that was still dirty with food all over the table then we had to get up from one side of the table so it could be cleaned but it wasnt even properly cleaned the only parts of the table that were cleaned was the big food crumbs leaving small crumbs all over the table because the whole table was not cleaned. Then we ordered our drinks and sat at the table at least 15 minutes before the server came to the table to take our food order. There were 3 people in my party we ordered the salmon with baked potato and side salad, a steak with side salad and chips cooked medium, and chicken cheese quesadilla. The server did not ever come to the table to check on us after our food was ordered before receiving our food, which the sweet tea was horrible. It was hot and not enough ice to cool it and way to much sugar in it. We had to ask for extra ice and unsweetened tea to cut the sweet tea. We did not receive our side salads before our main meal and had to ask for the salads when our food came out because the server forgot about them and the server blamed the salads not being brought out on the kitchen which is her responsibility not the kitchens. The quesadilla came with only enough lettuce for a small portion of it. The salmon is served on a piece of wood that appears reused several times that people eat off of that cant be properly cleaned and it didnt even taste like real salmon. The chips came out extra crispy when they were ordered medium. When asked to correct the chips they brought out some chips that were literally uncooked covered in grease. The manager did offer a piece of cheese cake in place of the chips. But even then we had to wait at least 15 minutes after our meal was finished for the bill. And there were also only 11 tables total in the restaurant at the time and the server walked past our table 6 times without checking on us but kept talking to people at another table that she appeared to know. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK.

We visited on Aug. 14, 2016. Place is very nice on the inside. Tons of TVs to watch the game. Staff was very friendly and the manager even came around to speak. I asked her about the History of the place as in where it started and if it was franchised. She was polite enough to tell us this and even talk with the kids. The food was good. I wouldnt say great. The cheese steak lacked a little bit of salt or some seasoning. It was a bit too loud but the type of place it is I understand why. Anyways it stays open late and serves bar type food. Great place for group get together or hanging with friends and what not. Maybe not the best place for date night though. I would recommend trying it for yourself to see what you think. The Good Great location (visited for lunch). Got seated pretty quickly. Great atmosphere & decor (we sat outside) Not too busy. Our waitress was nice. The Bad Waited about 15 mins before our order was taken. Waited about 20 mins before our food arrived. Uh, my veggie burger and tater tots were cold. Sent back and you guessed it..waited about 10 mins before my food was brought back (meanwhile everyone else was eating and was done by the time my food returned). Food returned and uh, it was now lukewarm (better but not good enough); the tater tots were hard. Sent food back. Manager asked if I wanted to try something else, but by this time everyone was done eating, so I declined. The Ugly A little overpriced ($10.30 for a veggie burger and side?? -> which was cold and not good by the way The wait was entirely too long for lunch; the place wasnt crowded, so why the long wait? Cold food...cold food...ewww...cold food

We have had dinner here several times and have always enjoyed it-good food, great staff, nice patio, close to our home. From those visits we would have given a 4/5 star rating. So we stopped in to eat after attending a concert in Charlotte last Saturday evening. We were happy to see that your kitchen served food quite late into the evening. However, even before we got in the front door the music was terribly loud. We could not hear the hostess, or each other, because of the volume of the band. We left immediately. Music makes for a lovely atmosphere but not when it is so loud that people cant chat with someone right beside them. We will not come again at a later hour since the music dominates the restaurant. Its too bad because we liked Hickory Tavern.

It has a good friendly atmosphere and most people are well to do because the prices are high. There is an abundance of big TV screens throughout and this is paid for with lackluster food on top of the high prices. Most foods are based around grains or potato, with little protein. Like paying $10 to eat out of a bag of corn chips. Our order was wrong on top of that. At least it was cooked correctly. This unhealthy food attracted lots of chubby middle aged people I saw. They need to improve on the menu while keeping the prices the same. Or keep the menu, but alter the serving to be more proteins and vegetables, and less of the unhealthy cheap stuff. The manager can make this place work if he/she wants to.

We live very close to this location and I love hickory tavern. Weve tried to order to-go a few times ..and I mean like 4 or 5. I have given this location its fair shot and honestly its trash. Last night was the LAST time.. I ordered a california chicken sandwich and my bf ordered a salad. He ordered an entree salad and it looked more like a side salad. My chicken sandwich was over cooked, the guac tasted old and it was so salty i couldnt even eat it. I got the house chips as my side and asked for them to be cooked medium (crispy edge and soft center) they were crispy and cold.. on top of that they forgot the dipping sauce. I will never eat at this location again.

First off this the first bad review I have ever made on a restaurant. For the second time in my three visits to the restaurant the service was non-existent. Both times we have been seated and then forgotten about. All the while never less than five employees chitchat at the hostess stand. After sitting there for fifteen minutes we decided to leave. I will not be back. I can understand if the restaurant was swamped, but what I observed was 5-6 employees that had nothing to do.

Timeliness was awful. The receipt time did not add up to the collective time of the experience. I called my order in and was told it would take 15 min. Not only when I got there it was wasnt ready I waited an additional 49 minutes. However, looking at the receipt it looked as if I was there for 29 minutes which means the clock didnt start until after the they put the order into the system. They offered an apology
