I have personally worked for this company; I was part of the staff that opened the restaurant. I put my time, effort, blood, sweat, and tears into helping this company open. I worked as many hours as I could, never complained when there were bumps along the road when opening a new restaurant, and did whatever I could to help turn the place into what I, as a native New Smyrnian, would wish to see in our little town. However, having a one year old stepdaughter that I was in charge of most of the time, issues would arise that I could not control and that were out of my hands. There were instances that I had to leave work at the drop of the hat because my stepdaughter was super sick, or something happened with the babysitter. (This did not happen daily or even weekly!) I was FIRED for "being inconsistent" from a job that I absolutely LOVED. I loved my customers that came on a regular basis, and my coworkers that put THEIR blood, sweat, and tears into opening the restaurant with me that turned into my family. On the website, this is under the tab that applicants can go to, to submit their information: "Here at the CorkScrew Bar & Grille we promote a positive work environment with a focus on education and personal progression. We have a strong commitment to having the best staff in town. If you have an interest in incredible food and delicious wines and cocktails, this might be the place for you." I cant tell you how many people I saw get hired and fired, for things ranging from their school/second job schedule being inconvenient for the company, to instances like mine with my child. Again, I loved working there - I knew the menu like the back of my hand as well as how the business ran - but as soon as a worker becomes "invaluable" to the company, they throw you away like yesterdays bad milk. I thought that I found a company that I wanted to work for, until I began my career that I went to college for; a family owned and operated restaurant that TREATED you like family. I still love the food and all of the old coworkers that happen to still be there, but as far as anyone looking for a job that can provide you with "a focus on education and personal progression," this place is NOT for you.. Especially if you have a kid that relies on you, or a busy life that implements your work schedule.

Beautiful place, good service, but ordered Soup of the day (Butternut Squash Soup and a Salad) for lunch. Salad was fine but when the soup arrived it smelled like fish. I ask the person who brought the soup if this is Butternut Squash Soup, and he says yes. I try it and its Fish Soup (I hate fish). So we track down our waitress and tell her, she goes away and eventually comes back and says that the kitchen changed the Soup of the Day and didnt tell her. So she apologizes and offers to get me something else. By this time everyone else is half way through their meal. So i just get a different soup (Not something I would order) and it was not very good. I only ate half the soup and then ask the waitress if she would deduct the price of the soup, she said she couldnt do that. We insist, and she says shell talk to the mgr. Eventually she says fine. Never saw the manager?? Cant believe I had to insist..... Poor Management, waitress was fine. Not her fault.

I have rated this restaurant before and gave it good marks but my last experience shows a marked decline. We went their on a Saturday night and were told we had a forty minute wait. We looked for a spot at the bar for a drink and noticed many open tables. I went back to the hostess and counted 14 empty tables along the way. I asked why, because they dont take reservations. She told me there were people waiting for them. I saw on her list 4 name not crossed out. The likelihood is they did not have enough wait staff. But why lie? Why would you not be fully staffed on a Saturday night at 6:45 and why lie? They seem to be more interested in their internal help problems then their customers. We left and walked to Half wall and had a great meal with no problems.

First time at the Corkscrew it wasnt bad had dinner the meatloaf special, asked bread with dinner waiter said we do not serve bread with our dinners this is the first place Ive ever eaten at that never had bread they must think theyre on the Riviera or Miami is just an average restaurant with average meals the waiter come back and asked we can give you bread if you would like it will cost $2.50 he came out with four little silver dollar sized pieces of bread with butter and garlic what a joke I wouldnt recommend this place as a five-star restaurant the crowd outside started laughing when they brought me the bread it was the biggest joke we ever had it was the best $2.50 spent for a laugh.

Food is consistently very good every time we eat there but customer service is consistantly less than mediocre. It takes a very long time to get food on the table whether it is an app or entre. Busy or slow it always takes a while. We have been there about 6 times and Id say 5 times out of the 6 our waiter forgets something or takes a long time to check in on us. I always feel like a nagger when I eat there because many times I have to remind the waiter that Im still waiting on a plate, drink or something. Other than that, the food is superb! The scallops are to die for and the curry chicken in an avocado is so delish! What can I say? Food is worth the wait

Disappointed!! My wife and I went there last evening (Tuesday) and couldnt hear ourselves speak. The Entertainment was too loud and amateurish to say the least. We have gone to several restaurants in the area who have much better entertainment and will not waste out time going back. The food and service were good but the karaoke entertainer was not. Hopefully well try going back again but on a different night. Whatever happened to soothing jazz or piano entertainment while youre eating??? I know of one place in NSB, Tianos Restaurant on Saturday evenings. The piano guy there is fantastic!!

We were a party of 6 adults and 1 child. A little mix up for waiter but was spot on after that. Very knowledgeable about menu, specials and drinks. The special was tile fish with watermelon, radish and micro greens. We also had skirt steak , alligator Po- boy , crab cake , macaroni and cheese with shrimp. For appitizers we had the crab dip and the ahi tuna in wanton cups! The BEST ever! We can not say eneough how much we enjoyed the food and atmosphere of the restaurant as well. We plan on going tons more so that we may eat the whole menu !

The waitress was really nice. Super sweet. Even packed, I dont think the food took longer to come out. But it wasnt anything extraordinary. Our party had a burger, Mac and cheese with bacon, shrimp and grits and chicken Caesar salad. The Mac and cheese and shrimp dish was overpriced. The taste just did not justify the price. The atmosphere is very loud which isnt a bad thing for some. The dining area was nice but I dont think it matched what they are advertising. Id go back for drinks and apps but not the entrée.
