Went on a very busy Saturday night. The staff was obviously overwhelmed. The chairs are very uncomfortable. We waited thirty or forty minutes for our food to arrive without a refill of water or a visit from any staff member. The waitress dumped our food on the table quickly and left without asking if we would like anything else. The food was not hot, just warm, and not seasoned. All three people at my table had the same complaints. My real problem though is with the manager. He spoke to us once from the table next to ours as he was cleaning it, saying enjoy your meal folks" and walked away quickly without allowing me to inform him about the meal. He did not even hear me trying to speak to him. When he did stop by and I told him of our issues, instead of acknowledging them he made excuses and stated how I could have told him when he "stopped by", he could heat the food on my plate up for me... He hemmed and hawed about what I could have done and how they were busy, and he made excuses for the cooks in the back. I was wondering if this was about my dinner or their busy night and I felt as if I was being accused of a scam. I asked for a to go box because we had been there for an hour and he finally offered to cook a fresh order for me and my daughter to go. I accepted the fresh meal which was hot and we received in seven minutes as promised. I suppose as a second thought the manager felt he should offer a dessert. He sent the waitress to offer. Only my daughter accepted out of the three of us. I spoke to him and thanked him on our way out when I passed him as he was obviously not going to speak to me again, since he turned his head and tried not to make eye contact. He gave a half hearted "have a good evening". I could understand the meal not being perfect on a busy night, but you cant excuse lack of good customer service.

The venue is quaint and modest. The menu is broad and seemed to be lacking focus, in the fact that I thought it was missing a theme, no big d though. The food was delicious - wife had shrimp mac & cheese, the shrimp were absolutely cooked to perfection, which is so easy to mess up. The mac & cheese was an overall success, just as delicious as it sounds. I had the mussels marinara. It was cooked well and the presentation was elegant, the flavors were all there and in perfect balance. I just wouldve liked for the sauce to be thicker, but again, not a deal breaker. Our server Banks was super attentive and extremely helpful as well as being knowledgeable on the menu. Drinks were always filled, orders went in quickly, he seemed to always be there when we needed him and never when we didnt - just how I like it. The manager personally seated every guest that came in. I couldnt believe my eyes, Ive never seen an manager so attentive and taking so much personal interest in every individuals dining experience. If they had a Nobel Prize for restaurant service, hed have a closetful. The best aspect of The Mustard Seed was the price - we ate high quality food at a fraction of the competitors price. Youre getting a gourmet meal for the price of a decent lunch. With tip we paid under $20/plate for a delicious and welcomed meal. We had an excellent experience but was not overall blown away. Well probably try a few different places this trip, but wouldnt mind coming back for more.

Just back from the Mustard Seed. We wound up having to wait to be seated and that was just fine with us: previewed the menu, looked at deserts, smelled the wonderful aroma, chatted up the others waiting. Food: Mine was sensational. Best pork loin I have ever had and this isnt my first rodeo. Potatoes superb, and terrific asparagus Decor: Gave it an excellent cuz I am tired of upscale lights and gadgets. Specials here (many) are on blackboards as is the welcome sign. Nice retreat into a more "real" environment. Service: Whoa!!! Still shaking my head. Chris, the Manager, was poetry in motion. I have not seen that much energy, effectiveness, friendliness, overall capability in an eatery since - - well, since never. Should have taken a video. That guy can do it all and do it all well. Waitresses were all smiles and knew their stuff.

Dont bother eating in Charleston. The food here is excellent (though what we had got a tad salty towards the end of the meal), and the waitstaff was wonderful. Very friendly. My fiancee is a celiac (gluten-intolerance) and our server was instantly familiar. She went to the kitchen and talked to the chef three times to make sure what she got was gluten-free. My finacee had the risotto and I had the sweet potato ravioli. Do try the tomato/mozzarella/basil salad with the balsamic reduction. YUMMY! We both very much enjoyed ourselves, and the place has a odd diner-esque atmosphere, what with the colorful walls, some booth-like seating and the long rows of mirrors on one wall. Highly recommended, excellent value (most entrees were $10-13).

This is nothing like the Mustard Seed in Summerville. It was 15 minutes before we even got our drinks, and it wasnt even that busy - maybe 18 customers total. When I complained to the manager about not getting drinks yet, I figured theyd fix the problem and start serving us attentively. Nope. They continued to neglect us, leaving our glasses empty for long stretches. We were late getting back to the babysitter because of their ultra-slow service. The decor and lighting is totally boring and the tables crunched together, leaving me feeling like Im eating in a neglected diner at some Interstate stop-off.

Service was amazing!! Billy was on it! Dined here last night based on their health conscious menu. Looked in advance and decided to get the grilled marinated chicken. However, once I arrived I saw their specials ... A grilled salmon topped with maple walnuts on a bed of sweet potato risotto along with spinach and tomatoes. I went for it. Much to my surprise I was served an almost overflowing bowl of risotto with a piece of salmon on top (that didnt look to grilled). And the fish was covered in maple walnuts. I wish Id stuck with the chicken.

Dont be surprised about the outside appearance. There is little advertising and only a small sign next to the road. I actually passed the restaurant when trying to find it....while using Google Maps. Anyhow, now to the part that matters, the food. Everything we had was very good. I recommend the chicken quesadilla as an appetizer and the salmon with fried green tomato BLT for your meal. Yes, you read that correctly...Salmon with fried green tomato BLT. Something very unique and equally delicious.

Had been hearing about the Mustard Seed for a while and decided to meet a friend there for lunch. The food was delicious, everything tasted very fresh and exploded with flavor. Topped it off with some pumpkin cheesecake for dessert and the bill was still very reasonable. One of my new favorite lunch spots for sure. Service was excellent too. My only gripe is that it was a little loud but that comes with the territory, whens the last time you were in a quiet restaurant?
