This happened a few weeks ago, but it still bothers me enough in the back of my mind that I felt the need to write this review. We came to this bar about 40 minutes before close after a wedding because it was so highly regarded by our friends who are native to Charleston. The drinks were good, Ill give them that; and it was a good time the majority of the night. Unfortunately at the end of the night, a foul hobbit of a man that works there soured the mood with his poor manners. It was ten minutes before close and the bartenders had just served a number of people in our party a final drink. As soon as it turned 1:48 a.m. the employees of the bar started yelling that the bar was closed. That was fine, most bars do that to get people to finish their drinks. What wasnt fine, was this short, longhaired, rude gnome with a brain the size of his gauge earrings. He came out and immediately started telling us to "get the f**k out" and that we were being rude because the bar wasnt closed yet and we wanted to finish our recently purchased drinks. He then proceeded to start taking full drinks from the table and literally ripped a full beer from a girl in our groups hand. I have never seen an employee of any establishment physically rip something from a womans possession. He followed this insult up by asking the girl to "name the last book she read" as if he were of some higher class just because the need to shower evaded him and his body was a living canvas of art comprised of poorly scrawled tattoos. Our group was courteous the entire evening until we saw that man behave like such a lowly coward. I highly suggest the management fire that man because you certainly know who Im talking about by his poor presentation. And if youre reading this review, on your next visit to the Rarebit please give that dirtbag the finger for me. Thanks!

Very up/down experience here, not sure how to rate it. First, the good: - the tomato soup was very good - whiskey sour was unique, really hit the spot - sides were all amazing (although my wife found the breakfast potatoes to be a bit over seasoned) - staff was very friendly. Wife is on a new diet and they were attentive to her needs. The confusing/bad: - cannot remember the last time I went to a restaurant that didnt have a starters/app menu. Was looking to order an app but didnt see an option. - steaks were prepared in a fashion similar to Waffle House. Which to me is not a slam, I love a good steak/eggs at 3am...but given the price point ($18) we expected a bit more. - grilled cheese is my biggest complaint. Seemed like they put cheese between plain bread and put it in a toaster for 10 seconds. Other than the grilled cheese, my gripes are small. But dont know if I would venture back with so many other options in the area.

Went here for a late lunch but was told they serve breakfast 24/7 so I got breakfast instead. I got the omelet with their sausage and grits on the side. Not saying it was the greatest breakfast meal Ive ever eaten but it was dam close. My wifes pork chop was on the same level. Their menu was actually quite extensive so we will definitely be back to try something else. I dont mean this in a bad way but when we went the place was packed with what appeared to be endless amounts of college kids there taking advantage of the 24/7 breakfast menu as their hangover cure. I could see why to because that omelet, sausage, and grits were that good!

This restaurant is amazing! Not only is it so delicious and very affordable, but I am an assistant and my boss came to me questioning two charges from here. He had no receipts only dates and amounts and told me to find out what they were for. I called the restaurant and the manager Jacquelyn was so extremely helpful and responsive! She sifted through ALL of the receipts for that day and found the two charges and emailed me itemized pictures which I was able to send to my boss. He was content and I was so thankful to have her help!

We ate a late night dinner at Rarebit and it hit the spot! Only the breakfast menu was available so late at night, but there were still plenty of options to choose from. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food (I got the Belgian waffles which were delicious and came with the most amazing honey butter). The atmosphere was really fun and we enjoyed the 1960s vibe. The best part was the Moscow Mule. Seriously the best Ive ever had - sweet with a fantastic strong finger bite at the end. I would definitely go back!

This was my first time going to Rarebit after living in Charleston for almost 4 years. Great atmosphere, but I was sold by our bartender, Shepp. When I ordered our first drinks, he asked for my name and gave me a handshake and introduced himself (very rare). As a newcomer, I didnt know their signature drink is the Moscow Mule, so I felt bad when I ordered an Old Fashioned. But Shepp took the time to make the drink, in the midst of a very busy Saturday night. Exceptional customer service.

The food here was so good that we came back twice. My husband and I shared a shrimp poboy. It was great. The hand cut fries were awesome too. I gave a 4 instead of a five only because the first time we were there one of the bartenders appeared to be a little drunk and the conversation was a little sloppy. I wanted to talk to him a lot less. He was nice and all just a little much for the afternoon. The second time the staff had changed over and there were zero issues.

Used to be in my top three every weekend lap. Over the 4 years I have lived in Charleston the quality of their Moscow Mule has gone down while the price has gone up. I feel they have grown comfortable and lowered their standards. I was very disappointed my last visit and even embarrassed, having hyped it up to my friends. The $10 cup with dried lime wedge is below average for Charleston and so sub par for the rare bit I first visited.

Ive eaten here for lunch several times and while generally the service is great as is the food if its really busy you can find yourself doing a lot of waiting. The chicken and waffles is probably my favorite item on the menu though there are some other options that I also enjoy. Theres a bit of a 50s style diner vibe with a fairly decent selection of beer and other adult beverages to choose from.

Highly disappointed, after being seated in a booth and waiting ten minutes we had no server show up so we moved to the bar where the bartenders ignored us while make themselves shots!! Not only was the service horrible but the patty melt was dry and pathetic. I guess theyve become complacent with the constant stream of tourist willing to overpay for bad service and food. I wont be back.

Our first experience here was perfect. We had an amazing waitress .. our waters were never empty. The food was amazing and cheap. We went back the second day and though our waitress was different and not as attentive the food was still awesome and service decent. We went for lunch both days and it was my cheapest bill of our trip. We will go back.
