Location easy to find if youre looking, BUT all you see from the road is the sign, so it would probably not be an impulsive stop. Plenty of TVs, tuned to ESPN and similar stations. Bar is located separate from the dining room, and there is an outdoor dining area as well. Parking wasnt a problem, the wait was average, and the dining area wasnt too tight. We didnt go over to the bar. It was easy to stay under $15/person, and even easier to stay under &20/person. We did not have children with us, so couldnt say if kids would like it (there were a lot of families there though). Service: wonderful. Greeted immediately, wait was 25 minutes (immediate if we had sat outside) for 5 oclock on a Sunday. Got drinks immediately, appetizers w/in 10 minutes, food w/in 30 minutes of being seated. Waitress checked on us several times, refilled drinks, and was very nice. Total cost was $57.77 w/ tax, before tip, for 3 adults. Meal: Appetizer was potato skins, which were 1/2 of a potato each, with cheese, pork, bacon, and scallions. They were very good, especially with some of the house South Carolina Mustard. One meal was the bourbon glazed salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly; moist, flaky, and complemented well with the sweet glaze. The dish came with choice of two sides, which were mashed red-skin potatoes, and cole slaw. The cole slaw was fresh, cool, and crunchy, not saturated with liquid. The potatoes see ok, but definitely made en masse, because they were a little dry and under-seasoned. The corn bread was moist and a little sweet. The second meal was the pork platter. It was a pile of pulled pork, and two sides. The pork was cooked well, very moist. The sides were fries and mac & cheese. Fries were your typical crinkle cut. The mac & cheese was obviously homemade, but average. The last meal was 1/2 smoked chicken platter. The chicken was a tad pink tinge, but it was completely cooked (smoked meats stay a little pink sometimes), moist, and a mild smokiness. Sides were a sweet potato and mac & cheese. The sweet potato was good, but we got a little extra cinnamon for it. Overall, a very good choice for dinner.

Im a big fan of BBQ and so when we planned our visit to Hilton Head this was one of my first choices of must try restaurants. There was some good and some bad, let me break it down. FOOD: This is the important part right? The food was mostly tasty. I went with the Smokehouse Plate to get a good tasting of everything The Smokehouse has to offer. I replaced the pulled pork with more ribs since the best pulled pork resides in Cincinnati at Elis BBQ and I didnt want to be disappointed. The ribs were above average, I enjoyed them. The beef brisket was below average and pretty forgettable. The chicken was average, it was juicy and the skin was fairly good. Overall, not too bad. Really, if you are coming here, just go for the ribs. They were definitely the best part of the dish. I had baked beans and grilled veggies as sides. The grilled veggies are a hard pass. The basked beans were adequate. My wife and daughter both enjoyed the mac & cheese though! DRINKS: Two drinks were ordered at our table, an Oh Mai Thai and a Strawberry Margarita. The Margarita was ok, the Oh Mai Thai was fantastic. Definitely recommend that one, made me think of my honeymoon to Jamaica! COST: So overall, at our table the consensus was that the food was decent, drinks were ok, so why 3 stars? Because we belted out almost $100 for a meal that was decent, not great. It just isnt worth the price. We concluded that this would probably be better as a lunch spot seeing as they had an extensive sandwich menu. KIDS: Not a bad place for the kids. The staff is friendly, there is a little worksheet activity with the menu, and the kids meals are adequate. The cost for the kids meals werent too bad either. OVERALL: We plan to make it back to Hilton Head again next year and I dont think this place will be on the list again for places to visit. For the money we spent there were much better options and by the end of the week The Smokehouse slipped further and further down our list of favorite spots.

BAD.okay so we go into this place and they have tons of awards displyed.... i dont know who they beat in any cookoff because their food was hoorible. They cook their pork ribs way way way too long... okay so people like them "falling off the bone" well these were like mush... i dont even think they season the ribs when cooking because they were bland and soft and gross. Absolutely no kind of texture whatsoever. moving on. the corn was deformed and dry. like it came out of the freezer and sat out for a week... the cornbread had NO FLAVOR. you could tell that it was from a box. the fries sadly were the best thing i had.. my girlfriend got the pulled pork sandwich that somehow " put them on the map "... whatever that means... it was a dry bun with dry and nasty looking pulled pork.. and i overheard the "chef" bragging about all the places he had worked and how he had done all this and that... when we got the check they had a comment card. and i clearly expressed my disappointment the whole staff was crowded around reading it seeing how they were doing nothing because the place was dead at lunchtime... and the chef couldnt even come over to say anything he sends the poor waitress back to the table to say how sorry they were that we werent satisfied.. i thought that was pretty pathetic.. so from my side of things. the food was terrible. the service was average.. BLAND BBQ IS NOT GOOD BBQ...

Smokehouse was a real letdown. We had commented earlier in the day that our week at Hilton Head Island and provided us with nothing but good meals, but that was squashed by our dinner tonight at The Smokehouse. I had a full slab of ribs and the tiniest bowl of beans as a side dish that you can imagine and only butter was served with the undercooked baked potato. And let me preface this next part by saying that Memphis ribs are hard to live up to, but The Smokehouse didnt even seem to try. Their meat was very good and cooked well, but it was incredibly bland, served to me barely warm, and the barbeque sauce tasted like Open Pit from the grocery store. The Bar-B-Cuban sandwich had little meat on it. My daughters dinner was not served as ordered and the chicken was overdone. It took a while to get ramped up to serving us, but we didnt get much after that. We were provided no refills on drinks during our meal, leaving me dry for our last 20 minutes of our stay. There was no WiFi connectivity.

Was hoping for a great evening with the family for Fathers day. Horrible experience! They were obviously busy but come on guys. I was almost knocked down 3 times by staff not paying attention to the people around them. It took us 20 minutes for anyone to greet our table and we sat with empty glasses for 15 min before we flagged someone down. The manager seemed frazzled and inexperienced. The only thing that saved this place was the food. As an experienced server in an awesome restaurant in NC, I can definitely tell that they need to step it way up. So disappointed. Never coming again.
