Its a nice spot. Free parking before 5 in the parking deck right past their entrance. Didnt know that until after we parked down the road. Now the food... Im super critical about hush puppies do allow me to say they have some of the best around! Pass on the Mac n cheese (lacking in the cheese department). Me and the wife Ordered the 2 meats course. We combination of 3. The pork had good taste but texture was somewhat dry. Not only in your mouth but it looked somewhat stale. Nothing the sauce could liven up tho. Which brings me to the second part, the sauce. Three main sauces, Lexington, Eastern, and their signature. Each were vinegar base and honestly after a few bites, they started tasting similarly. They had a rib sauce which was basically the same but with a tangy and thicker base. Not bad but nothing to speak on. The brisket was disappointing but honestly it was more because of how I like my brisket opposed to how they cooked it. Delicious smoky flavor, nice crispy charred touches, and a tolerable bite texture. BUT, it seemed like they precut the slices and recooked it. Also they added a sweet sauce to their brisket. Big no no for me. Ribs - St louis style thicker ribs. Nicely basted. Easy pull away bite but not fall off the bone with a nice chew texture. BUT, meat was somewhat dry and not as tender and juicy. Food was great and portions were generous but it left me wanting. Customer service was great by the way. Cool staff!!

A friend recommended this restaurant to us and I must say my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. Being from Davidson County, NC I find it very hard to find " good " BBQ anywhere else in the state. We tried the sampler platter with pulled pork, baby back ribs and beef brisket. We had slaw and macaroni for our sides. If I had one complaint the restaurant has a choice of white slaw and red slaw for their BBQ. Their is NO REASON to even offer white slaw with BBQ if you truly appreciate the good stuff. I requested red but unfortunately the waitress brought the white. I didnt complain as she was exceptionally nice and the food was served super fast. The mac n cheese was pretty good. Its what I call K&W cafeteria style, baked in the bowl. Not like Kraft macaroni as I have noticed a complaint on here about this particular side. The pulled pork was very good, some of the best I have had and the ribs were excellent. The brisket? To die for. That is coming from someone who is not a tremendous fan of beef brisket but this was just amazing. Exceptionally flavorful and tender. If youre a fan of the garbage they serve out east as BBQ you might not be able to appreciate Queen City Q. But if St. Louis,Texas and Lexington style is more to your palette then this place is definitely for you

Service and management was terrible. Four of us from a table ordered 2 beers, 2 cokes. Beers took about 10 minutes because it was busy so Ill cut them slack there, but took 45 minutes and several times asking a server/manager to get 2 cokes. Made the mistake ordering a 2nd beer. 15 minutues, never came, asked again. Waited another 10 minutes, asked again. Then they suddenly bring me 3 beers! They were going to make me pay for 2 of them, so I just said fine Ill take 2. Their mistake and theyre making me pay for it! Were trying to make a game at TWC arena right after and getting the check was required to get out of our table and find someone to print us a check as our server was MIA since the extra beer fiasco. Before leaving I politely notified what seemed to be a manager, but he claimed to be the owner and let him know how poor our dining experience was, and the guy barely seemed to care. Then to top it off I left my eye glasses on the table. Came running back 5 minutes later and theyre no where to be found and no one on their staff had seen them, albeit my fault on that one. Needless to say, none of us will ever return. Too bad for them as we frequent Hornets and Checkers games quite often.

My 6 & 9 year old nephews would argue the reason to come to Queen City Q is because of the Mac n Cheese. They arent wrong, what is often an after thought at other barbecue restaurants is art here. The macaroni is never watery, the cheese is consistent thru the dish & theres just a touch of crust on top. You may think Im ignoring the meat of the issue. Pardon the pun. The Q slow smokes the meat that you will smell driving up 7th St parking deck (yes they validate). Rather than start a religious war amongst the regional styles The Q serves the hand pulled pork naked and provides, eastern, western, South Carolina mustard and their own house sauces. Pork isnt the only option here theres brisket, ribs, chicken & local sausages. If youre real hungry pick 3 or4 for a platter. You can bring your vegetarian friends to choose from the variety of sides. If youre in a different mood get the flying tuna tacos with Asian slaw. Theres plenty of craft beer to wash down your choice. Inside youll find the place is rustic upscale combining local barn beams as accents to a casual seating area reflective of the uptown location.

Our office is right behind this place, and I am always amazed how local restaurant does not reach out to it;s neighbors to introduce them selves, and well, just offer a little something to your permanent neighbors. Were an office of 20 captive workers, why not say, "Heres a 10% off card because you work in the same office park". Or at least come by with a free sample. So I finally stopped in, ordered brisket sandwich. Thinly sliced, great bun, sauteed onions, nice watery sauce. I was overly surprised it was so good. Personally found the hush puppies too big, and doughy on the inside. Flavor was fine. (thats all that came with a $11+ sandwich) But expensive. They clearly are not catering to the office park next to them. Who can afford to drop $13 on a sandwich? Jersey Mikes is opening, the Chinese place does $5 lunch specials (w/ a drink), Harris Teeter has $3 subs...so imagine theyll get the 1st timers at lunch, and just be a dinner place. But since I work there during the day, they can count me out for dinner - and any future lunches for that matter.

OK Brisket Plate I ordered a plate of beef brisket with BBQ beans and side salad. The salad arrived with the rest of the meal. Salad unremarkable. Chopped lettuce. Presumably out of a bag. Nice portion of BBQ beans, served in a cup. Beans were tasty, with some crunchy bacon. There was a small portion of brisket. Only about 6oz by eye. It looked a bit scant on the big plate. The meat was very good. Moist and tender with very little fat left on. Served with a mild, sweet and vinegary sauce. The only bread included was single half of a slice of white bread toast, dry. Hush puppies were offered, only as a side order. The place looked nice, typical BBQ boutique rustic. At midday on Saturday, the restaurant was about half full. Service was good, prompt and courteous. On street parking no problem at this time. Overall, I felt a bit shorted by the small portion of meat and the half-hearted bread. This was a $16 plate of food.
