Once you have Texas-style brisket nothing else will come close. There are many that try but few actually get it. These guys are almost there... Almost! I ordered the fatty brisket and asked the server some very clear questions and she did a great job listening and doing her best to accommodate me. However, what she brought to the table was not what I was expecting. I didnt really complain because I knew that what I wanted (Texas fatty brisket with a nice bark) probably didnt exist in Charlotte. Ill just eat what I have and accept reality while I cry on the inside. She saw my displeasure and within a few moments a very attentive and understanding manager came out. He asked what I didnt like and told me to sit tight. He personally brought out a plate of perfection - thick slices of well-barked, juicy, fatty, melt in your mouth perfect brisket! I now cried tears of joy! After I cleaned my plate, he came back out and we had a great chat about what TX brisket is and is not and what the restaurant is doing to improve. I will be back very soon.

It was meh. Got a burger that was the special of the day. I was told I could only get it cooked Medium-Medium Well. I went with it anyway despite living burgers medium rare. It just wasnt any good. Their drink selection was pretty decent, but I was never told about it because our waitress was terrible. She had such a hard time getting simple things, like water, condiments, and even the bill. I cant necessarily fault the restaurant itself for an occasional inept waitress, hence the three stars. I wouldnt steer anyone away from trying this place because you might really like it. I simply will be trying other places before I return again.

Ive been a fan of the Improper Pig since they opened in my neighborhood. The managerial and catering staff are wonderful! Ive worked with Jess to organize many catering events and the service has never disappointed. They are always on time, and work hard to meet your needs. Besides that, the food is wonderful and my family and I go there often for dinner. The Asian/bbq fusion dishes are interesting and delicious (especially the fried rice, when its available!). The staff are always friendly and polite as well! Gavin, a manager, makes a point to say hello to us each time we stop by. Delicious bbq and a fine addition to the Cotswold area!

This place is new, only been a few months or so, but I can see that it would be quite popular real soon. A real hidden gem. The food is excellent every time we go, and we have been here three times within a month. So convenient to where I live and you can do to go orders when you are not in the mood for cooking or going out. The wait time is short and the staff is quite attentive. The manager came out every time and recognized us as regulars now. Love it! Will be back.

Surprisingly good replacement for Mama Fus that was in this spot. This is a sit-down and order kind of place which is nice. Really good selection of bourbons was a nice find. Decent draft and bottle selection too. I had the Bao taco with sweet potato hash. Really tasty. Had the cornbread appetizer that was good but a little confusing. Not quite sure what theyre going for there with the pinto slaw on top. Definitely a welcome spot in Cotswold. Ill be back.

Glad to finally find a really good spot that has a modern take on barbecue worth venturing out to. Must tries are the brisket, pulled pork as mains and the gluten free Asian slaw and jalapeno cheese grits for sides. They bring you a sauce carrier to find what you like most. Thicker sauces go well with the brisket, thinner for the pulled pork. My favorite is the Thai style for the pulled pork. The space is comfortable, even it your seated at the bar.

BBQ spots seem to be everywhere now. This place has consistently placed themselves on the top tier. They have a nice twist on their dishes and offer something fresh and exciting to try. Try the Chao Bao Taco! They have a nice patio outside and the bar is nice to eat at too. Will definitely recommend this place and will continue to bring people here. Definitely a place to put on your list.

Great local BBQ place that isnt married to tradition. Improper Pig takes great flavors from Carolina BBQ and merges them with other dishes to make complex creations that will bring you back again. Of course, with a rotating specials menu you may not be able to get the same dish, but dont worry! Something just as good will be there to replace it.

I cant say much as this was my first visit however the chips are very good, presentation is nice, staff attentive, nice atmosphere, nice variety on the menu, I do have one complaint and that is the brisket was a little fattier than I like but thats just my preference will I come here again , more than likely so I can try some of the other items.

Visited here on a whim and was totally impressed with not only the creativity of their menu, but also the quality of their food. You dont expect to find kale chips on the menu of a barbecue restaurant but they were great. The Brussels sprouts side was terrific. And the basic pulled pork sandwich was everything good I expect from southern BBQ.

I ordered the Pimento Cheese burger on Texas Toast. The worst slop I have ever ate in my life! The bread wasnt toasted at all for starters. It was hours ago since we ate and it is currently 2am in the morning and I have the worst heartburn I have ever had. I feel so sick from the garbage they served me!! Never will I go back to this dump!!!!

I love the home made sauses n dressings! The meat always taste good tender and fresh. My favorite is the brisket with mac n chz and there ranchero beans. if you havent been you should definitely go and try it out! The staff is on point and you will get great service. My favorite server there is Holly. She is always on top of her game.

Very very good. They do an excellent job representing the things on their menu. Its not modern chic with lost flavor, its super flavorful modern that makes you want to come back soon, every time. Good leadership trickles down, you can see that the employees care and want you to enjoy your experience, and thats always a plus.

Ive been going here for years and they do a good job of representing basics with a twist. Expertly prepared food, smashing together Deep South and Asian influences. Ive recommended it to a couple of adventurous people who rave about it. Even my traditional in-laws liked the menu. You wont be disappointed either.

First off, the food is incredible. Had a smorgasbord of barbecue split between my wife and I. Quantity for price is tough (meaning small portions) but the quality is good. That said, its a cool spot, would be cool on a date or for lunch with friends, but there are better BBQ options around if youre a BBQ snob.

if you want to feel welcome this is not the best place , I was there today and the woman serving the bar was very rude with me . She made me feel very uncomfortable with the way she treat me . if you are a tourist or foreigner does not come to this place you will not be welcome here....
