I have been to Sesame Burgers and Beer many, many times. The last time I went there it was a whole new menu and experience. And I dont mean it in a good way. I sort of didnt really look and see that there were changes. But when I ordered, it was clear something changed. It was more of a story of "we dont have that any more" over and over. "if you want that it will be a dollar more" etc. The food was the same quality, however the prices went up. Also you need a chart to follow the menu. It was $9.00 for a burger with nothing on it. If you want to get a different bun that is more. Then you add cheese, thats more, and you want lettuce and tomato, that is more. If you want a signature burger it varies between $2.50 and $3.00 more for that. If you want sweet potato fries (was a normal side before). that is a dollar more. So before you know it your spending 15 -18 dollars for a burger, fries and if you get a drink it will be a little more. The waitress did say that fries are now included but it didnt matter because it was less prior. Sliders are about the same size and you only get two now. If a company is going to raise prices like this and nickel and dime you into a burger, there are plenty of places I could go that serve a 10 dollar burger and it is just as good. Burgers are done right all over town. It is disappointing to see this happen to a place that had it right the first time. Now the service. It wasnt busy so I decided I could get in and out quickly. It took 7 mins to get a menu at the bar. Food was about 25 minutes. It took about 15 minutes to get my check after my plate was cleared. Overall it was about 50 minutes for everything. I dont think I am going back. Greed has taken over.

My business partner and I eat here frequently and ofter order to go over our lunch break. Today our order was wrong when we got back to the office. While inconvenient, it wasnt a huge deal and we called to see if they would correct it so we could drive back and pick up the food we ordered. Scott answerered and immediately told my business partner that he did not get the order wrong that she had ordered it wrong. This was completely untrue. He proceeded to rudely say, what do you want from us? She politely said, I would like our correct order and he said hold on for a manager. While she was waiting, she could hear him tell the manager (Jason), Could you please handle this customer she is being difficult, she says we got the order wrong when we did not. She was certainly not being difficult, we just wanted our order corrected. It was obvious when Jason got on the phone, he did not care that we could hear the employee speaking negatively, as he he did not even acknowledge it when he was told nor did he offer any kind of apology. He did offer to remake the dishes for us to pick back up. However, with the unprofessional way in which the situation was handled we frankly werent sure that our food wouldnt be tampered with. We decided to call back and cancel our order and just not return as customers. Our call back to cancel was answered by Scott who treated us in the same manner as before, and yet again we could hear him talking about us to the manager. The gist is that this Sesame certainly doesnt care about customer service and did not attempt to earn our business. We will not be back.

Let me start by saying that I have worked in the restaurant business, and in many other customer service positions (and still do), so I have the utmost sympathy for those who work in customer service. I am not the type to complain if I have less than stellar service because I understand and can usually chalk it up to them just being stressed or whatever. But the experience I had tonight at Sesame was just not right. We walked in and the restaurant was busy but not packed, and the hostess led us to a small table. There were two booths open, one that could seat four and one that could only seat two. When she set the menus down on the table I asked if we could sit at a booth, to which she responded by rolling her eyes and setting the menus down at the tiny booth, then walking away without saying a word. Our server was great, the atmosphere was great, and the food was excellent, but throughout the entire night that hostess was just so unpleasant. I ordered a salad, and I was almost done with it but not quite and it was still in front of me, and as she was passing by she took it off the table, again without a word. I cant understand what I did to offend her but she just seemed so put off by my polite request to sit at a booth. I will be calling to talk to a manager tomorrow because it still bothers me several hours after the fact, and Id like to return, but not if Im going to be treated like an inconvenience.

Sesame is the original gourmet burger place in Charleston (at least their Park Circle location is); they were building them before it was cool. Both locations serve a wide variety of toppings, easily more than 30, on 4 burger bases: grass-fed beef, black bean, chicken, or turkey. Dont feel overwhelmed though, they have about a dozen named combinations, my favorite is the Park Circle, but this opinion varies widely amongst my friends. The menu schema is similar to a gourmet pizza place. Additionally they usually have 5 specials. Salads are available, and their burger in a bowl (burger and toppings served over a mixed salad greens) allows for a bread-free experience. There are a few other items on the menu but the burgers are so great I dont stray. I havent had a side that I wouldnt order again. My wife gets the sweet potato fries just about every time; theyre thinly cut with salt and a parmesan-like mexican cheese whose name I cant remember. The grilled corn is also really good. The house made pickles are a great touch. The homemade shakes taste great, although I try to resist the urge because theyre so large that when mixed with a burger I feel like I shouldnt need to eat for a day or two. The Citadel Mall location just feels like a sports bar and the servers though normally great can sometimes get overwhelmed when its packed.

My wife and family do not like leaving a bad reviews to most places we go. One huge reason for that is we own our own business and we would rather be informed and have it brought to our attention so we can correct the problem. But this specific location never gave us the chance to experience their food and drinks. We put our name in to be seated and they said it would be about 35 minutes. The young man we spoke with was very kind and said they could text us when the table was ready. We waited 45 minutes and never got a text. We asked the host to just see where we were and the young man stated they were waiting for a table to leave. We watched the table leave and an older gentleman that was at the hostess stand startded searing people. We watched him seat people in our seats that the previous hostess stated were our tables. As we asked the new older hostess how much longer all he said was "you still have to wait and Im not sure how much longer"...And as we proceeded to ask the blunt question were those tables for us he proceeded to say you have to wait. Needless to say we cant say anything bad about the food or the drinks (because we didnt get the chance to try them), just the organization of the rude host that didnt give us a chance to eat at this establishment that weve been told is good!
