This place is awful in every way!!!!! Food was terrible and service was atrocious. I was never even acknowledged by a hostess so my fiancée and I went and sat at the bar. Beware of the awful bartender (short hair, stubbly beard) he does not like people! Cooks were touching raw seafood then touching vegetables and bread without washing their hands and they did not have gloves on. They were not wearing hairnets. There was hair on my fiancées plate. The She Crab Soup had no crab and tons of uncooked flour in it. It was awful, sent it back, could not eat it. The shrimp po boy was awful. Did not have mayo on it like the menu said and the batter used to fry the shrimp was terrible. I asked the bartender for tartar sauce, but he could not be bothered to bring it. I found a piece of something fried in my sandwich and I still have no idea what it was. Finally we just wanted to get out of there, so my fiancée goes to pay and tells the bartender she wants to pay because it is my birthday and of course he could care less and did not have the human decency to even mutter happy birthday or acknowledge that it was even said. This place needs new management or it needs to be shut down. I will never go back and we eat at good restaurants all the time and this experience was inexcusable!

Despite waiting at the host station for at least ten minutes with no attention being paid by the staff I really liked this place. It is right on the water, they have a nice menu and the food was amazing. I am not sure why there was such a wait to be seated and it would have been nice if our presence had at least been acknowledged but I am glad we stayed. We were able to be seated on the patio which was amazing. You have a great view of the Beaufort river and the swing bridge to St. Helena Island. Once we were seated our server was very attentive. My daughter and I were there for lunch and we decided to share a couple of entrees. We had the fried flounder po-boy and the shrimp and grits. The food was fresh and well seasoned. The shrimp and grits have a bacon gravy and it was so good I am going to have to try to recreate it when I am back home in Utah. There were eight shrimp so my daughter and I were able to both have a very decent portion of each. We werent able to finish it because both portions were very generous. If I ever make it back to Beaufort this will be a definite on my go back list. Everything was perfectly cooked

I really want to like Plums...but I cant. I visited there 3 years ago and after waiting 20 minutes for our waters and 3 minutes for beer that never came we left. The next day, the waitress spotted me and my friends and demanded the money for the beer we ordered. Even though it never got to us, she put the order in and claimed to have had to pay for it. Our other friend, a local, obliged her to make peace. Fast forward to this year. We ordered our drinks, 2 waters and 2 lemonades (one for a child) and the waiter brings back 4 goblets...15 minutes later. We had to track down a separate waiter to get a paper cup with a lid. 15 more minutes went by before our waiter returned to take the food order. It then took another 35 minutes for the food to arrive. I could understand if the restaurant and patio were full, but the restaurant was empty. The food was also so-so. If you want a great view of the park, water and swing bridge and dont mind the wait...give it a shot. Otherwise, move on to somewhere else.

Former favorite ! Used to have best ice tea in the state. Late lunch on Saturday around 2pm with friends from out of town . I had bragged about this place . Plums was to start with filthy . Tables ,floors, menus were actually sticky . There were flies ..Also old food splattered on the wall . On our first order attempt, three out of four selections were not available . Nothing worse after you have talked a place up to have your friends look at you and go "really ".. My order was an oyster po- boy . Not available.. Switched to shrimp.. Shrimp was stone cold. No cocktail sauce to save it. Service was attentive and apologetic. There were employees all over the place just none helping us. To top it off the Ice Tea I so loved was old near rancid. It wasnt particularly busy. On weekend before Water Festival. No more reccomendations from me! Loved this place. Now not so Much!

Food is pricey and worth it! I dont like seafood and had never eaten gumbo, but Plum gumbo (chicken and sausage, shrimp optional) was the best thing I had put in my mouth in a long time. Served on a bed of jasmine rice and costing only six dollars, it cant be beat. We also enjoyed the black-eyed pea hummus and pimento cheese dip (hot!) and the staff was very accommodating in serving it low carb with carrots and celery instead of bread. The olives were like fine wine and the roasted garlic would have made a fine dessert. The tuna salad was a also a hit. We chose this place for the view of the river and have visited twice and will definitely come again. The service was also excellent. Bathrooms were clean and well-stocked. We always eat on the front porch for the view, so cant evaluate the inside dining room.

Our server was very polite and nice to us. The food was Okay. I Loved the flounder but not the crab cake stuffing...Their Gouda Mac n Cheese is AWESOME!!! The dining area inside was nice but when youre waiting on your food you have nothing to do but look around...UP at the ceiling...which is CAKED in DUST!!! all the lights, fans and ac units looked like they hadnt been cleaned in YEARS!!! The cooks area is open so you can see them cooking your food when u walk in...NOT a good idea...especially when your cooks dont wear gloves NOR hair nets...and are standing there eating food while cooking food.....i dont think id ever go there again for food.....maybe for the bar (cause the drinks where great) but not to dine inside...

Went in with hopes of having a great dinner, and boy was that FAR from my experience. To begin, 1. We waited to be seated for over 20 minutes with an almost empty restaurant. 2. Sodas/drinks were completely awful and the orange juice was seriously sour. 3. It took almost 2 hours to receive our food. Granted we did have a party of 9, but the good was brought out at completely different times. 4. THE FOOD WAS AWFUL! Food that had been just brought out was literally, and trust when i say literally, ICE COLD. This is just the beginning of our experience. The place was not clean nor in any way good. I was highly highly highly disappointed.
