DeWolf Review: BAD BUSINESS I want to start this review by acknowledging the bartenders and servers at the restaurant. They are very friendly and they do their best to ensure a great customer experience for everyone that walks through the door. With that being said, DeWolf Tavern does not conduct their business professionally whatsoever. One week ago, I came in and spoke with the head chef Sai Viswanath, about having a band that I manage come in and play (apparently the head chef is the owner). After hearing a clip of the band play, he was excited about the prospect of having them come play a show in the near future. He was very adamant in making sure that if he did book our band, that we advertise and bring him in customers to make it worth while. We exchange information, shake hands and part ways. Three days ago, I get a call from his “booking manager” Lynn. She asks me if the band can come play from 7:30 to 10pm on Wednesday night. That is nearly a three hour set with no other bands coming in to play to take the stage. Being the professional musicians that they are, they spent three days coming up with original and quality material ready to be played for the customers of DeWolf Tavern. Again, I want to stress that Sai made it very clear that he needed us to advertise the performance on our end, and so we did to our upmost abilities. On our way to restaurant with all of our equipment in the car, and all of the people we invited coming in from different areas of the region (Boston, Cape Cod, Providence, Connecticut), I get a phone call from Lynn saying “the original band that we booked is in and they’re playing so we don’t need you.” I calmly proceeded to get to the bottom of the problem so that we could work out a solution because there has to be a way to fix this minor mistake. When Lynn realizes that I won’t just roll over and say “oh ok” to her dropping a bomb on us completely last minute, she hangs up on me…. Needless to say, we did not play at DeWolf Tavern last night. (We moved the gig somewhere else so that the 70 people coming to hear the band play from outside the region weren’t disappointed). I came into the restaurant this morning to discuss with Sai (the man in charge) what had happened. I called 30 minutes ahead to let them know I was coming. When I arrived, he kept me waiting for 25 minutes before I could get my three minutes with him. In a professional manner, I asked him why last night happened the way it did and tried to explain to him how it effects our business and credibility (our being the band’s) when they book us, tell us to advertise ourselves, and then push us out last minute. Unfortunately, Sai did not care at all about what happened last night, and was extremely dismissive. At a certain point, he broke out into uncalled-for sarcasm that had no place in a conversation that was supposed to be productive. Sai, I told you that I really don’t want to write this review. But unfortunately, you decided to show no empathy or care for the way your business treated us, and the way it treated those that were coming to see us. The goal of this review is not to put DeWolf out of business or tell people not to eat there. I want everybody that has any business with DeWolf (website makers, photographers, artists, social media people, cleaning companies. ANYBODY) to be weary, vigiliant, and cautious when dealing with Sai Viswanath and DeWolf Tavern. I would also like to ask anybody who supports good local [business to business] relationships to share this post and spread the message. Lastly, to anybody who came to see Noble Savage play on Wednesday night, I sincerely apologize for this incident. If you traveled from far out to see us, we appreciate the support and we will do everything we can in the future to make sure that this doesn’t happen to us again or anybody we work with. Thank you! Peace and love, Daniel Zak

India Inspired Waterfront Dining The DeWolf Tavern Restaurant offers a superb dining experience and a creative fusion of East and West if you choose carefully from the extensive menu. Here, you can sample from the Appetizer menu from oysters to Soup Du Jour, to Petite Lamb Rack, to Tandoor Baked Naan Selections or creative salad selections. Wash them down with inventive cocktails designed for the season or a Mango Lassi. Entree dishes offer something delicious for every taste. A common criticism is that the kitchen will substitute if low on ingredients and the dish was not as you expected and can be a disappointment. Cold carrot? pasta under hot lamb chops in a drizzle of spiced mint sauce, where Harissa marinated carrot, radish, cilantro salad was on the menu. The orange pasta was cold, odd, and rubbery under the hot petite lamb rack. The cheese board did not have the listed honey comb, nor enough crackers or bread for the cheese. The charcuterie plate was missing the second terrine and also lacked enough bread or crackers. This cost them a star. Daily specials make dining at DeWolfs affordable for every income level. These are listed on their web site along with their seasonal menus and hours of operation.Special Fix price meals make dining here within $$ reason and allow you to sample the menu. Chef Sai Viswanath is an acclaimed master chef and teacher of culinary arts. Now, he is berthed at the waterfront DeWolf Tavern Restaurant in classical Bristol, Rhode Island. This is a restaurant with great promise, sometimes unrealized. However, you can experience fine dining in a comfortable setting, indoors or out at the tavern bar, upstairs period dining room, or on the patio or overlook deck.

Maybe New Years Eve is more than they can handle...We arrived for our 9pm reservation and our table was not ready and had to stand in a cramped area listening to the hostess complain that people just didnt know when to leave. She then informed us that she needed to seat people that were waiting longer than us. When she finally brought us upstairs about 20 minutes later she asked if we had requested a booth or table. I informed her that I had reserved and been told that I had the window table by the fireplace. There were parties that looked like they had just sat down at all surrounding fireplace tables. She shrugged and asked if the table in the center of the room was okay, as if I had a choice. No apology. The rest of the dinner was mediocre service mixed with bad. My dinner was good but my poor husbands was quite awful and our companions thought that their dinners were passable. We ordered dessert and coffee and our desserts were brought out approximately 10 minutes before our coffee. By the time that was served the rest of the tables were vacant and the staff was breaking down the tables and cleaning while shouting across the room to one another and then an argument broke out over one waitress leaving before the work was done. Our waitress had seemingly disappeared so we could not even get our check to leave so they could get out of there before we held them up any longer.

THIS PLACE IS AWFUL!!!!! On Sunday 08/29/2014, me and my significant other went to the Dewolf Tavern for a romantic evening only to be sorely disappointed. We order the lobster popover and the garlic naan bread for appetizers. the popover tasted very fishy, which made is clear it was not fresh lobster, however the naan was good. We then had to wait over an hour for our main course. Then finally the waitress came up to our table and apologized for the wait and they will be paying for our desserts. She had sent our food back because it did not look good enough and informed us the remake will be out shortly. Another 15 - 20 minutes we FINALLY get our food and my boyfriends is over cooked and mine was under cooked. We call the waitress over and she sees our meals were not cooked right. We did the right thing and paid for the appetizers and drinks but nothing else. When the waitress apologized to us before we left very disappointed she said "Sorry, it is a Saturday night." IT WAS SUNDAY and the place was not even THAT busy. Needless to say we will not be returning.
