Its like going to a souped-up, upscale cafeteria. Lots of fresh, healthy choices plus a beer and wine bar. They serve you what you order, you walk down with your tray and pay at the end before finding a table to sit. Prices and tastes are comparative to the Whole Foods food bars in the same Persimmons Place shopping center. So it can get pricey by the time you pay at the register when you add everything up (entree, soup or salad, dessert and beverage). You can get the same quality food at full table service restaurants for less or the same prices. Hence one less star. Quality and quantity of food are great. Urban Plates serves sashimi grade wild Albacore tuna in their seared raw tuna entrees and salads. Melted in our mouths. Staff was friendly and will provide free samples to try to help you decide. I would call Urban Plates cuisine - California farm-to-table cuisine (salads, soups, stews, entrees, pizzettes, sides, desserts). There is a lot of multicultural cuisines mixed in their food and meal options. The entrees come with two sides and a slice of grilled rustic bread (mine wasnt really. Only disappointing part of my meal). I ordered the Miso Ginger Grilled Wild Tuna (grilled raw) with glass noodle salad (Korean-style japchae) and roasted Brussels Sprouts (told they were a fan favorite and they were REALLY GREAT). My friend ordered the Grilled Albacore Tuna Nicoise Salad and asked to replace the slice of bread with potato chips and to get a sample of beets. Urban Plates makes and hand tosses the salad in front of you while you wait in line. Finding a table can be a challenge since its self-serve, first come cafeteria style. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. There is a diaper changing table in the womens restroom. I can see parking can be tough in the lot during busy times and weekends because Urban Plates is in the busy Persimmons Place shopping center.

I do like Urban Plates, but its not so far beyond okay for a 4 star rating. More of a 3.5. The Place: Its nice until it gets busy then its a claustrophobic nightmare to get through line. The line moves decently, food in a psuedo chipotle/pick and choose manner with the confusion of braises on the end. Seemingly ample seating. Nice venue. The Food: Love hate relationship. The chicken is moist and tasty (best bang for your buck) the steak is good in texture but leaves a bit to be desired The salmon is hit or miss, sometimes properly done, other times over done Ahi tuna seared perfectly but lacks flavor (Have not tried the meatloaf so theres that lol) The braises are quite good as a side or add on The sides: hit and miss, some are good, others are bland. HOWEVER their brussel sprouts are life. Bread is also life Desserts are 2nd life lol The Gripe: I always feel even after eating Ive paid too much for something. Like I could have ended with a restaurant meal for the same price. It can be painfully bland depending on the options Amount of protein varies depending

I always get the beef braise with mashed potatoes and extra piece of foccacia bread. When this location first opened, it was always on point! Now, however, its hit or miss. Depending on the day, I might be pleasantly surprised with good flavor and mix of ingredients. Other days I get bland flavor and only meat with gravy. There have been many times theyve messed up my order and put it in wrong size containers or left out the extra piece of bread that I paid for. Theyve gotten better with that though and make up for their mistakes when they happen. Overall, I highly recommend the beef braise with mashed potatoes! Its so tasty when its prepared correctly!

A little pricey. Had the beef entree with 2 side dishes in addition to a beer for $20. There is an impression of being charged a la carte. The quality is excellent with emphasis on being gluten free. The beef was nicely spiced and medium rare...perfect. The closest they had to a dark beer was an IPA which lacked the complexity and taste of a good dark beer. The overall impression is of healthy food priced accordingly. One is served cafeteria style by standing in a line so there is no need for tipping.

The people were nice. The food was decent but not amazing. Its a nice environment. Its a little annoying when the soda fountain is behind the counter so if you want a refill you have to go ask for one. I would maybe give it 3.5 stars cause it wasnt bad but I dont feel am overwhelming urge to go back as soon as possible either. Oh but the steak was a little more flavorful once I put the spicy sauce on it. That was pretty decent sauce.

I like the idea of this place more than the reality. We have been here a few times and the "hot" food items are consistently stale and room temperature. (There is nothing appetizing about cold meatloaf with dried out, room temperature roasted potatoes.) If you go, stick with the foods that are intended to be cold or room temperature - salads and sandwiches.

Amazing food! The salmon was superb baked perfectly. I had them leave off the sauce because of allergies. The potatoes were firm and not at all mushy. The brussel spouts sautéed in olive oil with onion and turkey bacon were delicious with just enough olive oil to leave a film on the plate and not a river. We will be back!!!

This was our first time eating here. At first I thought the salad was pricy but the quantity and freshness quality were top notch. We shared the salad and had two bowls of soup, which were filling and delicious. I highly recommend it. My vegetarian family will love it here, as well.

Good food- Dinner plates, selection of meat, really can get your veggies on. Baked goods presented nicely. Staff is very interactive and helpful, nice place for some healthy food, and a beer or glass of wine. Kids love the mac and cheese, it may be too good for them.

God awful experience. The line system was a mess. Food was inconsistent from a microwave style pizza to an undercooked piece of beef on my sandwich. Nightmare experience finding a seat and paying with group who got their meals at crazy different times.

Excellent quality food and portions, but the price is a bit high; Id frequent here much more often if it were a bit cheaper. Whole Foods hot bar down the parking lot is a viable alternative, if you are doing taking out.

Pretty good. I liked the selection of healthy options and it was at a good price point. The only thing is that my steak tasted kind of sweet, which was weird. My wife said her beet salad was too "beet-ie".

On of my Favorite healthy places to eat ... ever! I recommend to my fitness clients because it is healthy, affordable and functional. I normally get the steak...with brussel sprouts and with cauliflower.

Nothing great !! If you looking for a hip cafe for lunch then this is the place. Just a little bit pricey but pretty average food. For me it was an average sandwich for which I paid twice the regular one
