I ordered here for the first time doing the take out, and expected what a typical Mexican restaurant provides which is great food with lots of flavor. I ordered enchiladas and the carne asada, when I got home I was in total shock of the quality that I received. First my carne asada was cold and fatty, when I picked it up and looked under it it was greasy and pale while the top was tanned, it was bland and disgusting. The rice and beans were cold and the rice was hard as if the hot it from the bottom of the pot. When I ordered they told me food would be ready in 20 minutes, I was there in 15 minutes and when I got there the food was already bagged and sitting on the table, no wonder it was cold. Overall it was so bad I actually had to call them back and report it to the manager to get a full refund, so I took the food back and got my refund, I was very disappointed that I had to drive all the way back there. I do not recommend this restaurant at all maybe another branch but not this one. Why pay for an upset stomach, never settle for something you do not want.

The experience starts when you walk in the door and wait 5 to 10 mins to be seated in the nearly empty restaurant. After being seated you can again expect to wait a lot longer just to get drinks. When you do eventually get to order, the food does come pretty quickly and in big portions but it is very bland. The chips to munch on while you are waiting for your drinks and service are also very bland and some were actually burnt. This use to be a great lunch spot with good quick food, but we had to stop going due to the service taking too long. We kept trying it to see if it improved any but not only has the service went down hill but so has the food. The staff is nice and friendly just inattentive. Ill doubt well go back.

Coming from a girl who was raised on Mexican food all her life in Southern California. I was extremely disappointed in the food served at Alebrije Mexican Restaurant. It was in no way authentic & I can only believe that people rave about this place because they know no better. Their ground beef is bland & runny & their cheese is an overly processed cheese food product. The meal was inedible & I left over half of it on my plate. Its sad when you drop $50 at a restaurant, realizing you could have spent $20 or less at Taco Bell & you still would have received a better meal. Ill continue to make my own Mexican food at home, until I get the courage enough to try another "authentic" local place, at least I know what I am doing.

This restaurant has the best Tex-Mex food Ive ever tried on the east coast. It is going to be different from restaurants in CA and AZ because these restaurants incorporate true Mexican and Southwestern cuisine, but we east coasters like our traditional Tex Mex food. The food is fresh and flavorful and does have a true Mexican flavor. Guacamole is to die for! The staff is courteous without being pushy and the beer is cold. I never miss a chance to stop by El Alebrije when Im in this part of PA. Prices comparable to other Mexican restaurants, but you wont find better food.

We usually love coming here when we visit our parents but the last few times weve ordered for take out, the food has been mediocore..food lukewarm, chicken dry, etc. Front desk very nice but when we were told food would be ready in 15 min we ended up waiting another half hour for it and it wasnt even hot when we got it..maybe manager needs to talk to the cooks to up their game to how their food used to be..too bad because their food used to rock...well be looking for another place for Mexican food from now on

My husband and I have been going to Alebrije since it opened and have never been disappointed. The food is outstanding, the service is timely and it is a comfortable place to eat. The chips and salsa fly off the table and we usually need a refill. Everything I have tasted has been great, but I am highly partial to one dish -- the shrimp fajitas -- outstanding! Now I take my 1 year old son there as well. There is plenty of room for a highchair and he enjoys the food, too.

Not that great... I actually visited this restaurant around Christmas time. The rice was overlooked and tasted like it sat out for hours and my food was overly greasy. Our server was nice enough but it was awkward where we were sat because there were other servers sitting and talking with a regular at a table directly next to us. I get that it was a slow night but it just created an uncomfortable atmosphere.

What more could you ask for in a Mexican Restaurant. Although the food has been slightly Americanized, you cannot complain about the price value and speed portion of the food. If you are looking for something that will knock your socks off...consider Philly. If you are looking for something to scratch your Hispanic Cuisine itch without a dent in your wallet, the lunch menus are a fantastic bargain.

Great food, large portions, fair pricing, nice family atmosphere. This beats all the higher priced places and delivers more. We go back frequently as a family of 5 and spend around $50 with dessert included. I highly reccomend this family run place.

First time visiting and the customer service was horrific. The waitress was very rude too. Never even was able to order because we left after 20 mins of sitting at the table waiting for someone to come over and acknowledge us. Never coming back.

The food was amazing, and our server was even better. She was so sweet and friendly. She even kept her composure while handling ignorant patrons next to us. Some of the best tasting food with virtually no wait. Way to go Alebreje staff!
