The person below me must have been at the restaurant the same night I was there with my party because I had a similar experience. We started out the meal with one waitress who was very helpful explaining the menu and guiding us to our selections. After a while a second waiter we had never seen, approached our table to take our order. The food came out promptly, and was pretty good. I had the New York strip which was cooked perfectly, on top of a bed of risotto, albeit my meal wasnt very hot. Unfortunately I will not be returning to Square 1682 because the service was just bad. When my boyfriend asked for a drink refill, it didnt come for 15 min until the manager noticed he was empty. At the end of our meal, no one even acknowledged us for almost 20 min. We finally had to flag down the second waiter to ask him for some dessert menus, which he never brought. We eventually flagged down a bus boy 15 min later who brought us some dessert menus and even took our dessert order because our waiter was no where to be found. When we were all done with our dessert, the second waiter showed up at our table with our check and didnt even say a word besides "Can I clear that for you?" After getting our payment together and waiting another 5-10 min for our waiter to return, a person in my party walked up to the second waiter and handed him our check. He returned to our table with our check and credit cards, put them on the table, and walked away without even a "Thanks" or "Sorry for the lag in service." I am a waiter at a Philadelphia restaurant myself and on nights were short staffed and busy, I at least make it a point to apologize to my tables for the lag in service. Not worth it for the $170 bill total. I definitely will not be returning.

My first visit was during Fall Restaurant Week 2011, and Ive returned about 6-7 times since then, for lunch, dinner and happy hour meals. My only complaint is that they recently had a menu change. Perhaps because they use local, in-season products, which is great, but I had the collard greens on two different occasions, about 3 weeks apart, and they used two different recipes. I also had horrible customer service on this past visit. I was sitting at the bar, and after receiving my food, my bartender disappeared and had to be called from a smoke break to get my check. I also had to box my own leftovers and ask for a bag and sticker to seal the box, which Ive never had to do before. I dont mind boxing my leftovers, however Ive never had to do so before. Definitely not the place to go on an empty stomach!! Food is good but service and atmosphere are both lousy! My server was not very attentive nor took the time to explain the menu, had an unfriendly attitude. The food took a while to get to the table. Got there at 9 pm and left there at 10:30, and that was just dinner for one adult and a child and that excludes dessert. The atmosphere is also not condusive for a pleasant dining experience, the tables were too close! About 10 inches apart and it does not help being seated beside obnoxious and loud individuals. Although cost of the food is average for Philly, entree cost $18 to $26, will not be dining here again!!

Dined in with a group of 6. It seems as though they have some issues. Twice we requested a specific bottle of wine from their list, only to be told that it was out of stock. The server did bring similar bottles for us to try and high were quite good. Overall, we had some order from the restaurant week menu and some ordered a la carte. Two of the three steaks were overcooked. Personally, the short ribs (pictured) I had was one of the best.

Horrible! Ordered a filet medium, came out well done. Asked for one medium, chef came out with an attitude about needing it less done. No I want it like I ordered it, but the second one came out RAW. I sent it backed and just ordered an appetizer. I suggest you do the same or better yet, find someplace else to go unless you just want a drink!

I sat outside, so i cant really speak to the atmosphere although it looked lovely inside. Server had some really nice recommendations. Only issue was my steak was a little overcooked, but as an employee in the food industry, i know thats something that happens occasionally almost everywhere.

Was a party of 7. My uncles food did not come out with the rest of our food. After 15 minutes of the resto of us being served our meal, his food (a pork chop) was delivered raw and inedible. While they did reduce our bill, the only staff member to really care was the waitress.

The food and service is consistently good. Though its not inexpensive, its not completely unreasonable. Breakfast and brunch are easy and quick here. In the summer you can sit outside with your dog. There are private dining rooms available as well.
