My Husband and I had Valentines Day dinner at Maize Restaurant. There was a set menu for the evening, so our experience may be a little different than a normal night. Bob greeted us pleasantly as soon as we walked into the restaurant. Our first site was Matt and Mark preparing meals in the kitchen. The decor of the restaurant is quaint and even a little romantic! We started our meal with a blue cheese tart w/ figs and walnuts. My husband was not sure if he was going to like it - but we both loved it. The figs, walnuts and greens balanced the tart perfectly! Then we were served maize biscuits with locally harvested honey and butter - We could have eaten a dozen of them (and I normally do not like biscuits). They were still warm - right from the oven, so good. We had shaved ice with Champagne - such a great idea! Then our main courses - I had Halibut with clams and my husband had the lamb. I tasted his so I can say - both meals were fantastic. The Halibut was the best meal I have had in ages! For dessert I had the goat cheese cheese cake and my husband had the chocolate souffle with banana sauce. ( I did not try my husbands dessert because I do not like chocolate, but with the speed that it was devoured I can bet that it was as good as it looked). The cheese cake was great - I was a little skeptical, but I shouldnt have been. The entire meal was amazing! I am used to dining in Doylestown and Philly, and I have to say that I will be going back to Perkasie real soon - Matts cooking was amazing, and the friendly, cozy atmosphere was very relaxing. Our waiter Bob was attentive but not overbearing and the chef even checked on us during the meal - I am looking forward to my next visit! * a side not - as we were eating the couple sitting next to us made a reservation for later in the week - they did this after only eating half the courses - the restaurant is really that good* * and I forgot the popcorn - the popcorn was fun and very good - great idea!

Great Food, WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had. I was there for a rehearsal dinner with my family. My brothers wedding. My children were with me, as well as a few other children. I asked if they could serve the kids first, they told me NO. I explained that kids when hungry are very irritable, and still NO. As they were serving the adults, my 4 year old was telling me he was hungry so I asked again. The answer... You guessed it, NO. At this point I very firmly said that the answer is Yes, because I refuse to eat while the children watch in hunger. That was the start to my awful experience. They fed my kids but still left the other hungry. They then served my uncle a meal he did not order. He explained this, and they told him that he did order it. I spoke with a different server to see if they could give him what he ordered. They finally did so, 30 minutes later. We had been there since 7:45, it was now 9:30 when they were serving the dinner portion of our meal. By then my kids were tired and my 1 year old was crying so my sister gave me hers. When they asked if we had switched plates, I attempted to explain that we switched and the man lost it. He stormed off without allowing me to explain who he needed to give the last plate to, and then came back and slammed my mothers plate down in front of her. At this point I told him that he needed to calm down, that I had never experienced such inappropriate behavior. He then yelled at me, that I was the problem. First off, any parent worth anything would not feel it appropriate to eat while their child is hungry! Secondly, giving attitude to a table because they did not allow you to dictate their meal, is again inappropriate! Lastly, slamming a plate down in front of a customer like a petulant child is absolutely INAPPROPRIATE! Never again, will I eat at this restaurant, which is sad because the food was excellent...

Went for dinner Friday night with friends. Bread came to table, biscuits with some corn flour were fresh hot out of the oven and fantastic served with butter and local honey. Next pan seared scallops served with asparagus and vermouth sauce, perfectly cooked and delicious. Tasted my wifes split pea soup served with smoked pork was also very good. Friends enjoyed two different green salads which were good. I ordered duck served with quinoa and oranges/cranberries and duck jus also a great dish perfectly cooked. Also tried the crab cakes which were very moist and flavorful. The bison was fantastic medium rare and tender with swiss chard. Had for dessert a cheese plate and the chocolate terrine a mouse like treat with a subtle pistachio sauce . All in all the meal was wonderful. One of the better restaurants in the philadelphia area. Food was about $75/couple (BYOB) The only area that needs a little work is the waitstaff , young not much experience yet. A little out of the way but well worth the drive....

I have no idea how we lucked out to have these guys local and not in the middle of NYC with a six month waiting list. Seriously, the food is that good and can be recommended without reservations. I highly recommend the tasting option - Ive had it twice and it is always amazing. But, you really cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Dont expect to get in and out in less than two hours and youll definitely want reservations, though theyre often available same-day. The experience really is about the food so take your time and savor everything! If youre into fancy carpets and decor you might find the venue a bit sparse, but they arent skimping when it comes to the quality and taste of anything that goes into your mouth.

Completely agree with Leslie Cruzs review. The staff is extremely arrogant. The chef is a hot head and You couldnt pay me to ever eat there again! This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in my life! As for the food, its not horrible, but for the prices I would expect nothing but the best right.....? Wrong! 2 out of 4 stars for food quality. If you factor in the price you can make that an easy 1 star. There are many wonderful restaurants in the area, and this could have been one of the best. As for now, I will take my money elsewhere. Maybe down to Doylestown or the New Hope Lahaska area. When and If this place changes ownership/management I might try again, but NEVER AT THIS POINT!

Maize is truly a diamond in the rough! Even though they arent faced with much competition in the area, the service and taste levels never waiver! The ambiance is always great even though the dining room doesnt provide an overabundance of space. The staff is always attentive and, as a BYOB location, their recommendations for food pairings with your wine is above and beyond! The complimentary freshly baked cookies dont hurt either. Must Try: - Scallops - Goat Cheese Ravioli (Menu is always changing but your servers recommendations will be spot on!) ** Added bonus, they had incredible music playing when we were there!
