What a fabulous place! Creative genius chef Peter Woolsey built yet another wonderful French bistro inside an old fire department pump house with a spectacular view of the BFB that they used to put out fires in the olden days before fire hydrants. Woolsey left some of the old pumps, tanks, and art from La Pegs pump house days, so the inside is beyond cool. The food is spectacular, just like it is at Woolseys other gem, Bistro La Minette (Zagat Food 25). Great food selections, great preparation, great service, great venue says it all. GM Michael Slavin has the biggest brain in Philadelphia when it comes to alcoholic beverages of all types, and enjoys helping his guests find something perfect for them. Is this the best stocked bar in Philadelphia? Probably. Chef de Cuisine Nich Bazik (Zagat 30 Under 30) is as much of a perfectionist as is Woolsey. In the interest of full disclosure, I took the Google Tour and photos of La Peg, and have since become its biggest fan.

Nice modern take on a French idea--the Brasserie. A recent visit to see an old friend downtown, took us to La Peg as the final stop after tooling around in Old City for a while. Since my buddy knew the staff pretty well, it was no surprise they were very nice, as I know he is a regular there. The food was good, sort of French sort of American (lots of French words and cheeses thrown around just so you are clear about it) in a nice atmosphere with knowledgeable staff. Wines are plenty as you would expect and the carafe option is also nice to see, as it has been out of style for some time. Prices are about what you would expect in a neighborhood like this in a major city. Overall it was good. I will definitely be back there, probably with my buddy again. I am not really clear on how it fits in with the Fringe arts program; but hey, I guess it drives business their way. I cant wait to go back in the warm weather to check out the patio scene.

Could be a better place. I walked by here and went in. The food is well prepared and has an interesting combination for tastes. The fois gras slightly overdone. The gravlax was a bit flavorless. The bartender is good but could use a little work. He used seltzer water in my old fashioned. I asked him to remake it and he did it again. It tasted off. The first drink he made me off the cocktail menu was good though, I should have stayed with that. We will be back to taste the full menu. I also ordered a dessert but after waiting 45 minutes at the bar it never came. Turns out after talking about it with the bartender he didnt think I ordered it. I explicitly said it wanted it. Oh well. I think he was more interested in sailing based on his conversation with other patrons. Damn. I was looking forward to that dessert too.

I was there last night for the 1st time for my aunts birthday & I had the catfish which was good and also the drinks were made well but the customer service for our waitress Hailey was terrible. She needs to be properly trained. We were never asked is everything ok then when my aunt expressed that her lamb was cold, she flipped her hair & rolled her eyes & said Ill get the manager & walked away. Never once said is sorry Ill bring you another one, just simple rude. Then when the bill came out she added 3 extra drinks onto our bill & when we tried to talked to her, she walked away while we were talking & then said Ill get the manager, then once the manager camp out he was so rude and made us feel like we were trying to get over on 3 drinks after all the money we spent in there...DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE

Went here for the outdoor ice bar. I was a fan of the fire pits but it was a little tough to get a seat around the pits. There were also some picnic tables set up with big Jenga along with some other tailgate type games. The drink menu is limited which is as expected for a small outdoor bar. Only thing is as a beer drinker, I thought the 4 selections were a bit poor. Without getting too snobby about it. I prefer to drink a lighter beer such as a lager, pilsner or ale. They had an IPA, a double, Porter and scotch ale. Those are fine, but I would have liked a nice sippin beer.

I called to make a reservation and spoke four times to the manager, Mike. Twice he transferred me to an empty line. The third time he just hung up on me. Never did he apologize or make any excuses or even just give me the basic courtesy of explaining what he was doing or what was going on. When I called back upset at the terrible first impression Mike couldnt have cared less. His only concern was that I should speak respectfully to him. It seems clear La Peg is an establishment where the customer comes second... third... last.

Our food was delicious (beer selection, main courses, desserts) and our server was great! The four of us had dinner and then stayed to watch a show (Nowhere Fast). The only thing that detracted from a perfect visit was the large boisterous crowd holding a separate party on the balcony. So only 3 stars for management who booked the other party for the same time as the show. Combining good drinks and good food with FringeArts Theater is a wonderful idea. And almost perfectly executed on the evening of our visit.

The decor and customer service was top par and I believe the food was 4/5. I got the Lancaster chicken and it was really good, although slightly overcooked which gave it a rough edge. The grilled vegetables plate was good too, but not entirely sure its worth the $15. Overall, the price was justifiable and a good experience. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends.

Great as a venue for local music. However, the customer service for the food and drink could be better. Its possible to sit at inside table for hours without a waiter stopping to offer drinks or menus. The bar is also long to acknowledge and take a drink order. Not that terrible considering its an arts venue, but its lost sales they probably could use to support the art.

Aesthetically pleasing, fun environment, friendly staff, food was good but my wife and I were expecting to be wowed and we were not. We had a sampling of oysters which were solid. A cheese plate which was nice and a cheese burger which was good but as I previously stated did not wow me. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? We will be back to give it a second chance.

Went here after trying to go to Morgans pier but the line was ridiculous. Came here for a quick drink. The crowd was a bit older than me but the bar tender on the inside was very friendly and served my drinks strong. Had a good but short time here, because of the crowd. The bar and the out door stuff is very cool though.

Went there to have a Beer and food and was thrown out cos they had a private party. Nobody told me about it Better call and see if its ok to go, and get a 1/2 hour message about the hours, etc. So I had traffic and parking and finally got there. SORRY PRIVATE PARTY. BEAT IT. Very nice!!!
