As of December 2011 they are UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AND ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I went to this place about a year ago and it was amazing, so I went back this week and found out they are under new management. This was my absolute worst dining experience. The waitress was downright rude at times, and negligent at best. The food has gone way way downhill since a year ago. I poked my head into the kitchen (upon arrival because no one was out in the restaurant) and it was amazingly filthy. Not to mention - the prices have gone up considerably since last year. Not at all worth it.

On an 18-nch plate they had spread out 5 small mountains of lentil stew, yellow peas stew, Collard green, steamed cabbages, salad chickpeas in spicy sauce and green beans with carrots. And a lot of iniera (the pancake-like bread. It is $8.50 and I dare someone to sit and eat it all -- its enough for two people. I took the rest home with me. The vegetables were fresh, they were playing traditional music and has a light incense coming from the other room. It is a nice little place with 4 or 5 tables. Could be an intimate setting for an inexpensive lunch.

The food at Ethio Café & Carryout is amazing! Whether you are a meat lover or a vegetarian, you will surely love their flavorful selection of dishes. My wife and I have tried their food twice and we have loved our experience both times. My wife loves their veggie combo (a delicious combination of vegetables including spicy lentil stew, flavorful yellow peas stew, Collard green, steamed cabbages and more!) and I love their meat entrees, especially their kitfo—minced beef with seasoned herbal butter. I recommend everyone try their delicious and affordable menu!

Ethio Cafe & Carryout is a great place to eat Ethiopian. From the appetizers to vegetarian and meat dishes, everything was so tasty. Considering the price, I think that this cafe is very reasonable compared to other Ethiopian restaurants. I am a veggie lover and I really think that miser wot was fantastic. I am definitely considering of eating back at the Ethio Cafe & Carryout when I visit Philly.

I really enjoy eating here. Everything I have tried is excellent quality. As prices are lower than many Ethiopian restaurants it is a good place to try different dishes. (They also offer free coffee and spiced tea with meals.) As there is not a lot of seating, you may want to consider taking food out during busy times.

I was dragged here by a friend and am glad I was. I love Ethiopian food and this was top notch. I thought ethiopian food tasted the same everywhere. Boy was I wrong! This is it. From the tantilizing lamb tibs to the flavorful meser wat, alcha kik and shiro, we enjoyed each bite that was so. I cant wait to go back.

I just went there and have to say it was AMAZING! Our waitress was a bit slow with English, but quite kind and considerate. The food was very reasonably priced and was extremely tasty. It had a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. I LOVED IT! Definitely give it a 5 out of 5.

Our first time here with our four-year old proved delightful and well worth a short trip for us. We all loved the non-alcoholic honey wine (such a sweet indulgence!), and completely wiped clean our plates of mild beef stew and a vegetarian special. We will return!

Great food! The atmosphere is low key and very relaxing. The owner/cook makes it a point to come out and talk with guests. Very friendly, kind, and hospitable. A must try for great Ethiopian food.

Great, tasty food! Bold flavors and the unique style of eating with your hands make this restaurant a fun night out. I recommend the "Kifto" (beef) and "Tikil Gomen Wot" (cabbage).
