My honey and I went to Sukhothai in Lancaster on Saturday 10/25/14 for an early dinner. It was a decision of convenience, since we were staying at the Lancaster Arts Hotel and this restaurant was in an adjacent building. The hostess who was at the reception area gave us a quizzical look when we arrived and asked if we had a reservation. She did not say, "Hello" or "Welcome to Sukhothai" or "How are you this evening?"... It was 6:15; the place was almost empty. We said no, we didnt have a reservation, and she seated us. When our waitress came over (the one with short dark hair and braces) with water glasses, she also DID NOT EVEN MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO SAY HELLO TO US OR BE GRACIOUS OR FRIENDLY IN ANY WAY. She asked if we were ready to order. We needed another minute. She came back and took our order. We ordered, and I was tempted to say that I also wanted to order her some PERSONALITY but that it wasnt on the menu. Sheesh! She could barely make eye contact with us. This unfriendly, unacceptable behavior continued through our entire dinner. She was scurrying around, inattentive to us -- but the place wasnt even full. The space was nice. Cool room dividers, nice decor, good layout.. And the food was ok-bordering-on-good. But who cares? The food and the room arent the reasons we go out to eat, are they? No. Its the experience. Its breaking bread with loved ones, enjoying time together. And enjoying time out is hugely influenced by the interactions we have with all of the people we encounter during that time. I would encourage anyone reading this to go elsewhere if they want to be welcomed and have an enjoyable dinner and evening.

We were greeted promptly and in an extremely friendly manner. Seated at a sweet table for two by the window. Really cute decor was cozy and comfy. Another friendly server brought water immediately. I also got a Thai iced tea and it was perfect-the straw wrapper was even arranged decoratively on my straw! They asked after a few minutes if we were ready to order. It was the perfect amount of time for us to peruse the menu and make our decisions. Our appetizers were very good. We tried the shrimp spring rolls and the homemade peanut sauce was delicious. The really amazing appetizer was the flavorful Thai sausage with the smoky-spicy dipping sauce. Fantastic! My husband had the sweet and sour beef and it was tender, but crispy and the flavor was just great. I opted for the green curry with chicken and this was SO hard to stop eating. Omg. Delicious! I took some home simply because I was determined to get dessert! We decided to share the mango dessert with the purple rice. Well, that was a stroke of luck! Out came half of a really tasty and tender mango on a bed of warm purple sticky rice with a cinnamon flavor. There was an icing drizzled over top of the mango and the warm cinnamon rice with the cool mango and that light drizzle of icing was just heaven! Definitely will go again. New favorite! It is also BYOB, in case youd like to take your own alcoholic beverage along. Very impressed with every aspect of this experience. Thank you!

We had this for a second time and figured that we will give it a second chance. The first time wasnt terrible, but wasnt great either. Maybe it was because we got very basic things. This time we had the Pa see ew, talapia, and one other dish that I dont remember and they came out with the same red sauce. Being from South East Asia, my mother is a wonderful cook and automatically knew that they used the same sweet, tangy sauce for all dishes. The tom ka soup was bland and did not have some of the key ingredients that makes it tom ka soup. After 3 dishes and an order of soup, 2 jasmine tea(only thing that was done well), 2 thai tea, our bill came out to 79 dollars and they calculated gratuity when we had 5 adults and a baby. Stay away if you like Thai food. This is not thai food. My wife had a look of disappointment the whole way home. I do not wish that on anybody.

I went out to eat to this place with my two friends. When we got to the place there was NO body to welcome us or to seat us. We go around to the other door hoping someone will meet us there but nothing. Then I went to the "only employee" room to get someone. Then the guy comes out and I ask him if they are open. He says yes, I saw u but I was doing something. Being very furious, I asked him, you saw us but wouldn come n say you will b with us in a moment or sth? Is this how you treat customers? Then he keep sayin I saw you I saw you. We were mad and left then the othet lady says bye. What a coustomer service? If you are someone where coustomer service mattets to you, dont go to this place!!!

Had a great experience, the food was very good I had the mild pad thai shrimp which was a good size portion and ginger tea and my husband had the seafood plate with rice and soda their tropical dessert with ice cream is awesome, last but not least our waiter named SKY was excellent and very knowledgeable about any questions we had she took her time with us as we asked about the different foods on the menu and we didnt feel rushed like in other restaurants that we have gone to we really enjoyed our time and will be returning to this restaurant :-)

I wanted to go all in on Sukhothai - Ive been eating there since it was in Mountville, PA and Ive NEVER been disappointed in the food. Id recommend any of the noodle dishes, the coconut soup, the Thai tea & mango sticky rice for dessert. My only gripe, and its ALWAYS been consistent, is that the service can be painfully slow. Relatively slow followup too for things like refills. Ive been there with an empty Thai tea many times just itching for a fill-up without the opportunity. Great place - just not necessarily the speediest.

This place is great. The atmosphere is great and feels high class. The food is awesome, for me its not hot enough but still amazing. The appetizers are a good hint into the entrees, the spicy chicken is fabulous with that amazing sauce. My favorite dish is the sweet and sour fish with salmon. Some dishes are big like fish, noodles are a good portion and filling. Smoothies are so good my personal favorite is the coconut. I have not tried the desserts because Im generally to full but they will probably be good too.

Mango salad was great Grilled shrimp were not done, sent them back they were reserved with grill marks nicely done I feel coconut soup is important at a thai restaurant. The soup did not have the full complement of flavorings, therefore bland. Definitly missing kafir lime leaf and very light on galanga, lime lemon grass and fish sauce. Only had cauliflour and brocoli though good quality it lent an insistant pungent off flavor. Thai iced tea was average, light on coconut milk and cardamon.

This was the first time my mom and I went to eat at Sukhothai, it came highly recommended by a friend - unfortunately it was not a good experience. The vegetable fried rice was the best Ive ever had in my life! However, service was slow, my waitress forgot to return to refill our water glasses, and the waitress and/or cooking staff forgot to add fried tofu to my spring rolls. Next time Ill order for pick up rather than stay for sit-down service.
