June 28, 2017 update: Today is probably the last time I visited Devi. Over the last several weeks, weve been noticing that Devis quality has been falling. Since, Ive been a regular here, at checkout they *always* ask me how everything was. Last time, I clearly let them know all the issues. He was apologetic and appeared to genuinely care. Today was horrible. The food wasnt right (idlis are cold, vadas are cold, sambar pot is empty and takes a while to be filled up, 4 dosas come out on 3 plates -- can somebody explain this to me?), the service was terrible, and the guy at the checkout counter just shrugged. Bye, bye Devi. Nice to have known you. ----------------- My historical review ----------------------- Weve been dining at Devi for a number of years -- ever since it opened. First, its a delight to have a South Indian restaurant in our area. The conventional wisdom on Indian food is that it consists of paalak paneer, etc. Well folks, thats actually a small slice of North India. Try this place for authentic South Indian food. The food is freshly prepared, its spicy, fairly authentic. The restaurant itself is quite plain, simple and clean. The service is quick and efficient. I highly recommend its lunch buffet because there is something here for everyone.

I have only been here twice, AND I have been working next door for 3 years! This place is completely blending in with the strip mall. I only found out about it after over time I have been noticing a lot of Indian people going there and decided to see where it is they are going. Lo and behold! The BEST tasting vegetarian Indian food I have ever had! I didnt try it all yet, but what I have had so far tasted amazing. I had their buffet only. When you walk in, ask for the take out container. You will get a divided plastic container with lid, a small container for soup and a mini container for dessert. I used my mini container to sample the other soup - it was lentil soup. It was not spicy, very mild and delicious. My lunch cost me a little over $10. Try the red tomato soup (sorry dont know the name), but then again, that is their regular one and there are only two choices of soups. So you wont miss it. Beware though, that soup is spicyyyyy! The rice is great, chutneys are delicious, and whatever dishes they had that day in buffet were all oh so delicious. I havent tried the dessert yet. Didnt look appealing at all, both times I was there.

We were a party of three people and we had dinner at this place yesterday. The sambar had a burnt smell. Idlis were not at all soft! Service was very poor. The manager was rude. He reserves a large table for 8-10 people on a regular basis, just in case a large group arrives! I dont get this and I have not seen this at any Indian restaurant in the US. We ordered coffee which was brought in after a long wait and it was luke warm. The waiter did not apologize for the delay. The price charged here for a South Indian vegetarian buffet is very high. I will never eat here again and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Devi is possibly the only restaurant that serves South Indian Food. The rest of the Indian restaurants have north Indian food and some mundane biryanis.. This is a pleasant change from usual.. Very much recommended for any veggie.. Also recommended for anyone who think that Indian food is ONLY about Roti / Naan, Curry and Biryani.. Do not fill your plates with all the stuff out there.. coz somewhere in the middle of the meal, you will be asked for a choice of your Dosa (Pancake made with rice batter). You will like that your tummy will feel happy and light..

How I wish there were more stars to give!! Seriously, this restaurant has some amazing and delicious South Indian Food. We visited the restaurant twice. Once we ordered the Thali and it was something we totally enjoyed and ordered some of the items as take away. The next time we were planning on having the thali again but as a surprise, there was dinner Buffet. The food was extremely delicious and the service was amazing!! We were stuffed and felt we could as well roll our way to our place. There was no item on the buffet menu which we would miss!!

Came here again. Not too much better. Resource management is not in the dictionary for this place. 1 guy is getting everybodys orders. 1 guy is bussing all the tables. Who knows how many cooks they have in the back? The food is good. But everything leading up to that is hell on earth. Word of warning, take out isnt any better. If you are ordering take out, order it before you leave the house. They take that long to get TAKE OUT ready. Something that should be quick. To the higher ups of this establishment, get more employees.

Update Sep 2017 : The quality was not consistent as earlier. Was a bit disappointed with the taste - probably changed their chef I and my friend were in a mood for some authentic spicy sputh indian food - hence Devi. Yesterday, Wednesday night, I took suggestions from the waiter on what to order - He suggested - "Gun Powder Idly" and "Bisibele Bhath" and wow! I was taken back to Bangalores MTR! Great flavorful authentic food. And very kind waiters. Surely going to back for more from all the way from Doylestown, PA.

Brilliant South Indian food! Been going there for a couple of years - staff are nice, food is vegetarian and to die for. The Sunday evening buffet (after 6pm) is excellent value - really great assortment of dishes, with a nice Vegetable Biryani, excellent Sri Lankan curry dishes and an exotic assortment of vegetable curries. Plus Idly, Dal Vada, Sambar and Rasam. They serve a fresh (huge) Dosa with (variably) spicy potato filling, when you are ready. Overall, its a great choice if youre feeling adventurous.

I cannot give the any star to this resturant because today I go for dinner and asked for menu, manager told me that we have only buffer.ok me and my family take dishes. After certain minutes I see they can serve the menu order for customer. Why?what is the reason? I pay the money what other customers pay and Paratha(Bread) for buffet waiter told me u have to wait 15 minutes. I personally suggest go to Shagun Resturant very nice services and what they told they give.

Food here is constantly excellent. Indian is my favorite type of food, and I think I must have experienced at least 20 Indian restaurants in my life...and I think Devi is the best. From what I understand, this is South Indian style. Ive never been to India, so Im not too familiar with the regional variances, but I did notice that their menu included some fares that I have not seen elsewhere, such as Dosas. I highly recommend this place.
