First, remember that Portland ranks locations too high. A 4.5/5 is really a mediocre place in this city, whereas elsewhere 4.5 is a damn good rating. Ive generally found I need to subtract about 0.5-0.8 from a rating to get a feel for how "good" a place REALLY is...and that goes for Google Maps or Zagat or any other ranking system here...Portlanders are likely too "nice" to leave a fair review, for whatever reason, which skews rankings. Ive had several cups of "meh" coffee in places with a 4.6-4.7 raing... So Pastinis 3.8 is very, very low for a restaurant. That said... We ate only the cheese/sliced meat platter, a tomato cream soup, and a chicken artichoke salad. We both felt a bit bloated/inflamed after our meal here. We drank nothing but water, our breakfast was the same as always, and we had no lunch, so I have no doubts it was the food here, as opposed to our houses food. My partner felt it a few hours after I did, and I think the was likely the poor quality cheese on the cheese platter or something in the soup, because I started to notice my gut a little inflamed almost right after leaving, and I doubt it was the chicken (likely cheap conventional chicken, though) or artichoke, though perhaps the lettuce was problematic. In any case, tasty food, but painful bellies afterwards: not worth it. Also... The server was very sweet, but unfortunately we noticed after the restaurant that the chip in the credit card we used to pay was damaged and now no longer functions. We tried this in several locations before writing this review, but yup: the chip function no longer works, and in the last shop even the magnetic strip didnt work, but Im still hoping it will in the future. There are a few very small scratches on the card, so its likely a result of poor handling. Boo. Sorry to say it, but...skip this place.

911 SW Taylor St, Portland - Just came in for a light snack. I had the mixed olive plate. The presentation was very boring, just plopped into a bowl. My companion had cauliflower w/cheese and bread crumbs, which she said was good. Then we ordered dessert. I had lemon custard, which I thought was rather ordinary. My companion had an almond cookie, which she liked. However, heres the kicker--NO ESPRESSO!! They only serve regular coffee! In an "Italian" restaurant! And the waiters excuse for why there was no espresso offered? "Theres a Starbucks right across the street." So what is a customer supposed to do, order a gelato, walk over to Starbucks, get an espresso, and bring it back to the restaurant so he can enjoy a proper Italian dessert? Sheesh! I wont be going back, not with all the other places to try in this city.

First off I want to say on from long Island New York and every corner their is an ittalian restaurant so my expectations were low. We walked in and were immediately greeting by a friendly face who took us to our seat. Service was super fast and excellent. From placing our order to the food being in front of us it was less than 10 minutes. It looked amazing and after diving in it exceeded my expectations on taste. (I got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken). The sauce was the perfect consistency and the perfect balance between butter and cheese and the chicken was cooked to perfection. My fiancé also loved it and was in food coma from how great it was to give me any real feedback. I recommend stopping by if you are local looking for some good ittalian quisene or a visitor from afar.

For a long period of time now, I’ve been looking for a sit-down restaurant in bend that I could have a quick meal at on my lunch break. Its been a bit stressful finding one, but I finally have. My first visit to Pastini was nothing short of perfect, for what I was looking for. I arrived there about 15 minutes into my hour lunch break. I was sat right away, even though they seemed to be pretty busy. I was able to order (off of their $6 lunch menu), and have food and beverage in front of me in 15minutes. The food was great, and it didnt put a hole in my already ripped pocket. Service was great too!! And, I made it back to work with several minutes to spare. I’ve been going there about 3 times a week now, and have never been let down.

The dishes at Pastinis have a delicious twist to the typical Italian dishes. The host and servers are all friendly, and when you ask for their opinion they are honest and dont try to push the higher priced dish. I could eat their caprese appetizer plate all day, the mozzarella is creamy and delectable. Their ciabatta bread that accompanies your pasta dish is always soft and a perfect addition to your large serving. I can never eat an entire bowl, and since I am a big fan of left overs tend to take home my remaining food and enjoy it the next day. Never have I experienced a terrible time at Pastinis. Each location has their own individual atmosphere, but their food is always prepared the same... Delicious!

Im a big fan of corn meal, whether it is in a big tamale or a slice of polenta—the stuff is amazing. That is why I was pleased when I visited Pastini Pastaria in downtown Portland, Oregon. This great neighborhood style Italian restaurant obviously knows their pasta, and offers it at a great value. I couldnt resist the polenta when I saw it on their dinner menu. It was like a crispy cake of golden heaven. Of course I had to have it topped off with a couple meatballs and some marinara. Outstanding. Id also recommend a look at their special cocktail menu. I had a concoction with vodka and san pelligrino. Not sure what they called it, but it was perfect.

Nothing teenie about Pastini: food portions, drink options (wine, beer, mixed drinks), or the restaurant itself. Perhaps the smallest thing you might find is their pricing with most pasta entrees in the $9-$12 range; including a couple slices of ciabatta bread from a local Portland bakery. Both locations Ive visited in downtown and NW 23rd/Quimby had excellent service, which made you feel you could sip on that glass of wine a little longer, or scurry out quickly to catch the flick across the street. Either way, have had pleasant experiences at all the Pastinis Ive visited thus far, and would not hesitate to try another.

Got seated quickly for lunch/dinner. Food was great. Love the parmesan cream sauce. UPDATE- came here again 7/9/16 3 years since I was last here and left a review. I absolutely loved it again! Super clean super friendly staff. Garlic Parmesan bread was so yummy with the marinara dipping sauce that was warm! We had a seafood pasta dish which had lots of real crab in it and some very delicious mussels. Then we went for a desert! Got the gelato sundae with a cookie cumble. This was super sweet! But very good we could not finish it.

The service was friendly and prompt. The location is convenient. The ambiance was nice (modern, quiet). Dinner was average. Dessert was abysmal and incredibly overpriced. I ordered spaghetti for dinner and it was a reasonable portion. I even shared it with my wife. We decided to order dessert as they had a lemon custard cake that sounded excellent. We ordered it to go and what a mistake that was. Upon arriving back in our room we opened the box to reveal a tiny piece of cake which revealed itself to be barely edible.
