First time at Thistle! OMG! The best meal ever ! I had the beet, fennel, pea shoot, citrus & chèvre salad. My wife had the albacore, tomato, celeriac, olive & capers salad. We shared. For dinner she had the gnocchi, pumpkin, rosemary, breadcrumbs and I had the steak, potatoes, celeriac, smokey blue cooked to medium. The gnocchi was a little crisp....perfect and not doughy! The steak was cooked perfectly and the smokey blue was awesome to coat it with. Yes, Im a meat and potatoes guy! Sorry. For dessert, she had the cardamom bread pudding with caramel sauce and I had the frozen pistachio dessert! We couldnt leave anything on our plates....even though Im miserable right now because I ate far too much! Im in heaven! Emily, the owner, is a magician. Patrick, at the bar, is awesome! I didnt go meet the chefs and buy them a drink but I wish I had! Wow! Why did we wait so long to eat here? We live in Carlton and Thistle is only a stones throw away in McMinnville. Just think of all the good food we missed! Well be back. Be sure to call for reservations. This place is small and cozy and high on quality! Dont miss it.

My husband and I have been looking forward to stopping by the Thistle and trying out someplace new in Mac. I have to say I was extremely disappointed in the food, prices, service (felt like I was being rushed out the door) maybe the waitress could tell how disappointed we were in our dinner. We like to have a good glass of wine with our dinner. You can imagine our surprise when our red wine came served ice cold. I mean the glass literally frosted like a beer glass. We asked the waitress the reason for serving the red wine cold "We have no air conditioning, have you ever had hot red wine it tastes Horrible". Well between that and the over priced meal, I will not return nor would I ever recommend.

VERY expensive for what you get. Portions small and unadorned - my whole meal was a small bowl of gnocci for ~$15, about 2/3 cup size, because I wasnt about to pay $10 more per side. Sheesh, for $15 throw in a few potatoes or something! My dish tasted exactly like T-Day stuffing so wasnt exactly memorable. Shared one of the more moderately priced bottles of wine - our meal came to over $100. Left broke and hungry. Seating is very limited and it is damn cold by the door in winter. The chef may be famous for caring about quality food, but this place doesnt provide a quality dining experience.

For a small town, McMinnville has some exceptional places to eat and Thistle is one of the standouts. Start at the bar with prohibition era cocktails expertly crafted by Patrick. For dinner, the my favorites are the gnocchi and the meat selections both of which change regularly. Dont expect an Oregon-only wine list. The owner has crafted a surprising selection interesting bottles that never disappoint. If you are sure, let her suggest something (her pairing ability is top notch).

We received a gift certificate to this restaurant...finally called and made a reservation. What a surprise to see a table for us right at the kitchen. Service was rude, looked at us like we were idiots for wanting to know what the food was on the board. Was not anticipating this type of atmosphere. Very expensive, went away hungry. Thank you Golden Valley Brewery for saving the rest of our evening. Will not go back or recommend.

Came after a day of wine tasting. Small little place with a homey vibe and great service. Creative, delicious cocktails from the small bar area next to the restaurant area. Good wine selection too. Food was awesome. Had fresh oysters, salad, gnocchi, fish, pork, rabbit. Everything cooked to perfection and sourced from local farms. This place is a MUST for a dinner during your visit to Oregon wine country.

Did not eat dinner here, but enjoyed two lovely evenings with a warm wise and talented bartender. Met and spoke with locals and travelers. One of the best cocktail bar experiences I have ever had. We were staying a short walk down. The street at the McMinnville hotel. The bars there felt crowded and impersonal for my tastes, the bar at the Thistle is not to be missed if you are in town.

Been here four times and each time its a treat. Always fresh always unique and entrées for all diet types. Emily the owner has given her all to make this a unique location in McMinnville and every time we go we are always surprised by something new because the menu is always changing.

We were visiting Oregon wine country from New York and heard rumors of a little restaurant called Thistle in Mcminnville. Small space, great design, chalkboard menu (changes daily). We felt as though we could be back in Brooklyn or London not Oregon wine county.

Very twee atmosphere. Can be a long wait even with a reservation because there are so few tables. Food was great, although with the chalkboard, eating your way course to course is a bit more difficult. Drinks are great, staff are professional.

The food was bland and the portions were very small. When I did not like the parsnip soup the waitress treated me like I wasnt good enough for their food. The service was horrible. They were total snobs. Food was overpriced and we left hungry.

Service the rudest Ive ever encountered. Food was excellent, but being chastised for your menu choice is unacceptable. Wine choices were more from France than local. Too many other good choices within 30 minutes to waste your time here.

Best date restaurant in town. Its rustic, quaint and cozy. Great wine list and Emily & Patrick dial in the atmosphere. Not to mention, best cocktails in town. Whether your a local or passing through, this spot is a must.

Pork rilletes for appetizer, a tuna main dish with veggies. All was delicious. A great wine pairing and then I moved to the bar for excellent cocktails by Patrick. Very impressive.

My new favorite restaurant. The menu is seasonal and based on whats local and at the market. Very Parisian and great deals on wine.

Cocktails are great, if a little pricey. Service was fast and slightly pretentious.
