My wife and I went out to dinner here to try the "new place in town". In the same place as the old Ragin river/Andys cafe building we had to give them a try. Owned by the owners of the Broadway Cafe in Salem we figured they would be pretty good. My wife had the Flat iron steak and fries and I had the New York Strip with Garlic mashed. Our steaks were both excellent, cooked a perfect medium as we like. Flavorful, needing no additional sauces albeit I did put a little more salt on. The Garlic mashed was great, perfect texture and very flavorful. My green beans were fantastic. My wifes fries were very good, but not perfect as they did need ketchup. She asked for and recieved a side order of vegetables as this plate did not come with them. We were surprised we did not get a salad included as a starter included with our meal. Service was just a little bit on the slow side as there was only one server when we arrived. While he was trying hard he was moving with blinders on so it was hard to get his attention. We both would have had another drink if we would have been asked, and instead of asking if we wanted dessert he just brought us our check! We asked for dessert though, and my wifes Apple Blackberry pie while not home made was very good. I ordered strawberry shortcake since the berries are in season. They were out of shortcake though so I settled for ice cream with strawberries instead. It was good but Im pretty sure it was not local berries as they were just OK at best. Part of the reason for the slow service is their layout of their building (the same problem the former place had as well) wait/server station is in one far corner of the building then the kitchen and bar is in the far back opposite corner. I would hate to be a server here! They really need to look at other options for their wait/server station - Perhaps between the bar and dining room area? They are doing some minor remodeling and plan to have live music soon. Their outdoor patio is nice but a bit bright and warm in the late afternoon. Perhaps a mesh sunshade would help with that? Overall we were pretty impressed with them and are glad we went. We do plan on returning and hopefully they will get better in the places they are lacking.

OK, just left this place... Have to say, we have eaten here three times and the first two seemed promising. The staff, as stated by the previous reviewers were friendly and consistent. The food and prices were good also. Then just when you think great, we found another good place to recommend, there goes the neighborhood. Our waitress was pleasant enough but seemed to be having memory lapses. After seating us, First the coffee was just barely warm and bland tasting. So she brought us a second cup. It too was also tepid. At this point we suggested maybe a fresh brewed pot was in order. As it turned out, yes, the third cup was hot, but it did nothing for the bland taste. Now for $2.50 per cup, you would think theyd be using quality brews! Then theres the food issue. We both had breakfast meals where the hash browns and veggie omelette were very greasy. End result, if you cannot maintain good consistency, then dont expect favorable reviews.

Got there, service was prompt. My fiancee and I ordered some loaded fries, curious what those where. Ill tell you there were definitely loaded! Massive plate of stacked fries covered in cheese and what looked like pulled pork. When we were done with this "appetizer" we almost felt like we had eaten a meal! While we where waiting for our entrees, we received some sliced bread with vinegar and oil to dip it in. This was a very nice unexpected touch. I got a BBQ Burger, my fiancee had a pulled pork sandwich. The burger was well cooked, and was not raw in the center. It was pleasantly juicy, the bacon was thick and perfectly done, the buns where toasted and a healthy helping of lettuce and what looked like 2 fresh slices of tomato. This came with yet another large helping of fries. all in all, the atmosphere was quite nice, the food was great, and the servings were quite large. Loved it, just what I wanted. 5/5

Normally I am content with this place. The food is decent, the service isnt bad, but their inability to accommodate service for holidays (such as mothers day) kinda killed the interest for me. My advice would be to train your staff properly, so when a customer calls they dont get through an order, only to be informed that you are accepting reservations only, and then was promptly hung up on. I didnt even get an offer to make a reservation. Having your staff keep up with whats still in stock in the kitchen might be pertinent information as well. The last few times I had gone already had me on the fence to begin with. I usually am pretty forgiving of inconsistencies, but based on my last few visits there is a lot to be desired. There are plenty of other restaurants in town, and nearby. Ill be taking my business elsewhere.

Abysmal party experience! I made reservations in November for a private room with a party of eighteen happening at the end of December. Called one week prior to confirm the date, time and number of attendees yet the restaurant was completely unprepared. The table was not ready on time; they ran out of several standard menu items, the baked potatoes were so bad the waitress refused to serve them. To say the food preparation was slow is an understatement, the time between the first items arriving and the last item served was over an hour. My food was cold on arrival and several others had the same complaint. Fortunately, the serving staff worked extremely hard to make the best of a bad situation, offered a free round of drinks plus our party had a sense of humor. Otherwise, the evening would have been dreadful.

We tried Raging River for the first time tonight and we WILL be back. The building is really nice, the waitress was attentive and the food wonderful. We were a party of five who all ordered prime rib. The salads were good (go for the poppyseed or blue cheese dressings both were wonderful). The prime rib was tender and I loved the horseradish sauce. My husband felt guilty for ordering his prime rib New Orleans style as he feels good meat should be enjoyed on its own flavor but he LOVED it. The apple blossom for desert was wonderful and one of my favorite parts of the meal. My son wants to go back for the rolls and honey butter. We will be back! Prices were comparable to any good steak house. Only unremarkable thing ordered was the garlic mashed potatoes, go for the pesto pasta or loaded baker instead!

The server was super friendly. HOWEVER- it took OVER AN HOUR to get two burgers with sides (tots and onion rings) ... when we FINALLY received our order (now a to go order because it took so long) we find that the burger with tots came a with a whopping 6 tater tots.... yes you red that correctly . SIX tots.... now we didnt even have drinks or appetizers... what could have possibly taken so long?? They couldnt even use the excuse of being busy, because there were only maybe 4 tables sat other than ourselves. it was also a little pricy being 30$ for just the two burgers. Needless to say we will not be returning.
