This place is a little gem. Its tucked in so its hard to spot unless you are really looking for it. Ive been meaning to try it for a while and just visited there for the first time tonight. The service is excellent. The entire staff is attentive and very warm and friendly. The house sake was very good and they serve it hot or cold. I prefer my sake hot since it brings out more of the flavor. The sushi is perfectly prepared and very fresh. Its a relief when you walk into the door of a restaurant that serves sushi and you cannot smell anything fishy. We sampled a lot of different items and every piece was delicious. My husband will not eat sushi because he has never liked the taste but he tried some of mine because I was telling him how good it was. To my surprise he ordered several pieces for himself. He informed me that we need to go eat sushi there again soon. High praise indeed.

In town from San Francisco for business in January; this izakaya literally made me happy... just sitting in there looking at the sake magnums lined up along the rafters, and watching the sushi chefs prepare the rolls, and the group of japanese intel contractors enjoying a meal after work...aah i can almost imagine i am back in Japan. :-) The service was top notch - attentive waitress and prompt food delivery; the food was excellent: gyoza, a sampler special with clams, stuffed mushrooms and seared beef, karaage, and sashimi scallops... those scallops were the best ive ever had! Waitress was friendly, sake selection was diverse and and the quality of my order was very good. The specials were a little pricey for the portions but the tastiness easily made up for it. Happy hour from 8:30pm-close daily and with a big draught fo Asahi for $2.50 you cant possibly go wrong!

This is by far my favorite sushi/sake bar. A little pricey for the everyday sushi consumers. ( but its well worth the $ spent on QUALITY) I work at a local Japanese company. As an American I cant help but notice the looks of sublime happiness from my Japanese friends & coworkers as they leave happy and satisfied. The sake selections are amazing and if you cant finish the whole bottle, then they will hold it for you up to 90 days. During that time you may come back and order more exquisite Japanese style food with youre favorite bottle of sake! I would eat here everyday if it was possible for me. In short... I LOVE SYUNS!!! They dont just have an excellent sushi menue, but a great authentic Japanese menue as well. One of my favorite item is the seared salmon rice triangles :-P Yummy! I luv Syuns- PDS

Ive only gone once but my experience was mixed. I ordered the Chefs Choice roll and was brought out a Cucumber roll, at which I stared confused for a few minutes and assumed I got a raw deal. My waitress (who wasnt the one to drop said roll off) noticed the roll and asked if I had gotten my Chefs choice, at which time everything got cleared up and I later received a great Hamachi roll (and even got to keep the cucumber roll on the house). The location is charming, small, but a bit noisy (as per its popularity) and when I went I lucked out going alone as I was asked if I had a reservation. Prices are a bit higher than other sushi locations in the area, but the quality about makes up for that and happy hour offerings seem to be fantastic!

Went based on reviews and although my sashimi was good, it took over an hour to get it. I went with a brother and sis-in law and brothers hamburger steak and sweet potato fries came out inside of three minutes from the time of the order. Sis in law wasnt quite so lucky. Her steak bite order took 30 minutes, but I win the prize as my nine pieces on uncooked fish took the kitchen 60+ minutes to produce. Then the check was brought to the table and I was being charged $14.25 for a $6.00 salad. It was brought back a second time still incorrect. Finally on the third attempt, it was correct. They did try to appease us with comped ice cream dessert, but this was way too little way too late. So our first time there will also be our last.

Ive been to this place a couple times with my dad, and have been BEYOND satisfied with my meal. The sushi is fantastic, best Ive ever had. My dad was stationed in Okinawa when he was in the Marines, and he says that the decor looks exactly like the sushi/sake bars in Japan! Just be careful; as with any sushi place, the prices look great...but they add up, since youre ordering multiple items to make a meal. Im a small eater, but the cost for my dad and I was around $20-$25 for the two of us alone. And that was without sake, since my dad doesnt drink and Im a minor. (Were Christians anyway.) Go to this place with a friend and have some fun. I know you wont be disappointed. :)

Came here for lunch on a Wednesday. The place was fairly busy, what I would expect since its not even a block from the courthouse. I sat at the sushi bar. The sushi chefs actually spoke Japanese, it was interesting to watch them work. I ordered tamago (egg), spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura rolls. Nothing crazy but I wanted to try how good their basics were. They were all decent but not great, although this is the first time Ive ever felt any sort of heat from spicy tuna so props to them. Server was nice, refilled my tea (which was free!). 3.5/5, OK place with good décor but I wouldnt go out of my way to stop by.

I have never been a big fan of sushi. I was very hesitant to go here based on my previous experience with sushi. I did go with some people that have been here many times and their experience was vital when choosing different plates. The food exceeded all of my expectations. It was visually stunning, the textures and tastes complimented each other well. The size of the place is very small but was told the size is very customary to many of the sushi houses in Japan. The cost of the total meal was shocking, but what we ate and how we were treated made the cost worth the experience.

Went for a late lunch on a Saturday. Ordered Saba Shioyaki, Miso Eggplant, Assorted Pickles, Gyoza, and Karaage. Everything was delicious: very juicy filling in gyoza, Saba was crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside; and the miso sauce was velvety and flavorful with slim, tender eggplants. Karaage was piping hot, juicy and well marinated, but still very crispy. Really authentic place with an excellent sake selection that I look forward to trying the next time I drive South. Well worth the 5 hour trip from Bellingham, the food around here is great!

Found out about this place from a coworker after I lamented that there were no sushi restaurants within walking distance of work. The food was very good and the service was amazing! The place was packed, yet I was helped right away. Got my food quickly. They brought miso and green salad almost as soon as I sat down. Due to it being so busy and on my lunch hour, I didnt get much time to peruse the menu. I highly recommend checking it out online before going in if you have time constraints.
