I dined with friends this evening. Food was delicious but service was lousy and staff was rude. We tried the spicy pork which was good enough. The dumpings were tasty. The salmon was so fresh and yummy! The tempura shrimp roll and the spider roll was fancy. We ordered tea but got no sugar or refills. We didnt get silverware or napkins. We asked for extra eel sauce but didnt get it. We were told that we were loud and should be quieter. The food took forever to get. We had to get up and get our own takeout boxes.

Ginza is very small and hard to spot from the outside, but on the inside, youll be quite amazed. The sushi is some of the best I have ever had and probably the cheapest thing on the menu. They may not have a rotating bar, but thats because they serve traditional style. I am not yet old enough to try the sake, but the selection looked fine. They also have Japanese and American beers. If you want great sushi for a great price, this is the place to be. Have fun!

One word: Meh. The sushi is alright. Definitely not up to par compared to the other sushi place in Albany. The fish was just okay and the rolls had structural integrity issues making them hard to eat. The service was lackadaisical at best and there were only two other tables when we were there. I cant say anything about the cooked Japanese entrées, as we only had sushi, but we will not be back. If you want good sushi look elsewhere.

Flip Jung must be employed by a competitor. You want the best sushi, youve come to the right place! Hands down, Ginza has the BEST and most flavorful sushi. It is embarrassing, being from Portland, that the best sushi Ive ever had is in tiny Albany. The size of their sushi filet is 2 to 3 times larger than most other restaurants. The cuts themselves are top of the line. Owner/Chef takes pride in what he does.

Been there five times now, good stuff! Great family from southern japan, very nice staff, japanese grandma in the kitchen!! Sushi is pretty darn good and marinated well for a nice taste. They get items in season when available. Best in albany for sure, fun lunch sets, good price, authentic, they will even make items special off the menu if you are nice about it ;), I hope they are around for a long time.

Ginzas is a favorite. The service is slow but the rolls are fresh so that is to be expected. We have been going so long that they have changed the menu a few times but we still order things from the old menu and they dont bat an eye. They are always crowded and the atmosphere is awful but when you get your food it is well worth it. And the restaurant doesnt real of fish like some others. Go go go!!!!!!

My favorite Japanese restaurant! Dont go for lunch, go for dinner. I think the staff changes for lunch since Ive heard its not good at lunch. Everytime Ive went for dinner its been amazing. The atmosphere is nice and its not too busy. The customer service is good. The food is delicious. Try the plum wine and prime rib teriyaki. A little pricey but worth it.

I have been going to Gonzalez for a few years now and the service and quality of their food has always been top notch. My favorites are their tonkatsu, korokke, and the rainbow roll. The atmosphere in the place is always nice and its never too crowded and for me that makes it an ideal place to eat.

Ive dined in many of Portlands Japanese restaurants and Ginza rivals them all in flavor, quality, service & price. All of their rolls are delicious, the fish portions are generous and if you prefer other Japanese dishes you wont be disappointed there either. The Udon and Yakisoba are top notch.

Food is very good. Staff was very busy but friendly. It is small and cozy , with good food. Was just my wife with are baby and me we got the assorted sushi, spicy chicken, yakisoba noodle teriyaki chicken kids menu for $34+ tip. Very good, and for a small town like Albany its off the hook.

If sushi is your thing then you must stop by and try it here! The sushi chef is amazing--it will likely be the sushi youve ever had. The hurricane roll will have you come back for more, but none will disappoint. Give this place a try you wont be disappointed.

Not the best sushi in the Willamette valley, but definitely my fall back place for sushi. Was not pleased with spicy tuna roll. Corvallis and Ginza roll phenomenal. Small inside. Great staff. Good tea and decent miso. Small menu for non sushi items available.

This is an excellent, family-owned, authentic Japanese restaurant. The people are very friendly and I even get to practice my Japanese when I go in =) Oh, and the food and service are both great. Nice atmosphere as well.

By far the best sushi I have ever had. Andy used to be a sushi chef in NY before heading west for a quiet place to raise a family. Try the sun roll, Tell him I sent you. Going to this place is like going to Cheers.

Im not a fan of sushi, but everyone Ive talked to says this is the best sushi around. They also have other delicious options, like teriyaki and yakisoba, for those who dont like fish.

Staff was annoyed that customers wanted an open table. When service begins like that, theres no choice but to walk out. Snobs cant be bothered.

Pro-tip for lunch. Spicy chicken extra spicy with no salad and dressing on the side. Then put the dressing on the rice, its magical for 7.50.
