It feels like a family-styled Japanese restaurant where the prices arent absurd. The place has a homey feel to it. CHICKEN TERIYAKI + TEMPURA COMBO ($10.95) Chicken was good, nothing mindblowing. Tempura portions were more than I expected. Theres 3 pieces of shrimp, 1 piece of salmon (very good!), 1 scallop, 1 zucchini, 1 broccoli, and 2/3 sweet potatoes/yam. BEEF AMIYAKI ($11.95) This is made with rib eye steak. It came out on an iron skillet and was quite good! You can put a bed of rice on top to soak in the beef flavors and have the meat rest on top so it doesnt overcook. Both dinner entrees came with miso soup, salad, and rice. We were given an entire rice pot during my most recent visit too - how nice! If youre looking for good Japanese food at a good price, Fujiyama-Ya is the place to go.

This is the best, most incredible, scrumptious sushi restaurant on the planet. The best place to go on a date. The best place to order from if your just craving sushi. The best everything. Name anything and this place will be great for it. Its relatively small, yet a great place to put up a reservation for a birthday party. Ive never done it but Ive seen other groups celebrate a birthday at Fujiyama and Ive always envied them for coming to the idea of celebrating in such a great place. I could go on. Dont forget the pricing. The bang for your buck is phenomenal here. Go here. Eat. Gorge yourself full with Japanese cuisine. I can only hope that you love it as much as I do.

Went to this restaurant on strength of reviews. It did not disappoint! The food was, in a word, awesome. Absolutely great beef amiyaki and beef sukiyaki. The regulars seem to prefer sushi. Some special seasoning to the white rice - sake or rice vinegar maybe - it tasted great. Staff was not unfriendly. Rather, the place was packed, people lined up out the door. Theyre pressed for time, probably all the time day-in day-out. This was a better restaurant than others we - out-of-state tourists - went to in SF at twice and three times the price.

Kind of out-of-the way, this little Japanese restaurant is still very popular and often has a wait for a table. They offer the usual variety of sushi, teriyaki, tempura, etc. As a vegetarian, what I really like about this restaurant is that they offer a vegetarian "green roll" in addition to the usual vegetarian options and vegetarian gyoza (similar to pot-stickers). Other family members praise the sushi combo deluxe and the tempura, teruyaki, and California rolls.

Get here early, Fujiyama-Ya gets packed quickly. Its small space, while intimate, causes crowds to wait outside in the cold and foggy Sunset. But there is good cause for the wait - consistent Japanese food. Nothing over the top, and a solid staff who do a good job serving their customers. Nothing about its menu makes it stand out to be sure; however, it is the consistency and lack of a need for a "wow" factor makes Fujiyama-Ya the solid restaurant it is.

This was my local haunt when my girlfriend and I lived up the street from here. Great friendly survive and good food at good prices. I usually got the beef donburi and whatever sushi I was in the mood for and my girlfriend always got the chicken katsu. The food is always consistently good. This place does get busy during the weekend.

The people here are overworked. They are all business and have no reason to smile. They make food. Bring food out fast. And food doesnt get you sick. Basic necessities. All you need right The teriyaki sauce here is from the planet Mars. Please stay away.
