We decided to try this out for the first time and it wasnt that great walking in. Its a beautiful building and set up and we had plenty of time to appreciate it as we stood at the front desk for ten minutes. Not a single server or employee noticed us and it wasnt very busy. There were plenty of empty tables and employees walking by, but no one paid any attention to us. When we were finally pointed out to the hostess, who was standing there almost this entire time, she told us another five minutes. After that had come and gone, we were shown to a nightstand they tried to pass off as a table for two that was situated in a doorway that was being used constantly by other patrons and employees. Our "table" was bumped a few times and I had to hug the wall to avoid strollers and trays and protruding elbows. It was about another ten minutes before we got our water, which was the only water we were to get for the night - I assume they were running low. Our waitress appeared some time after that, during which time we had each read, reread, and reread the menus. We ordered, I the Spaghetti, which was on special for $10, and he the $23 Lobster Ravioli. The food only took about 20 minutes, which is usually good, but seems to go against their "Fresh" persona. I had a huge platter of spaghetti, which unfortunately contained frozen meatballs. He received 7 minuscule lobster ravioli which contained no lobster. I definitely got the better deal as I could eat my spaghetti for several days. When he finished, he asked for the check and a box so I could keep munching until we were ready to leave. The waitress grabbed my plate and tried to pull it out from under my fork, which I was using to spear a meatball. I protested and she seemed appalled that I didnt want her to take my plate. I tried to explain that I was perfectly capable of boxing my own dinner, so she reluctantly brought me a box. She then brought us the check and we never saw another employee after that. I boxed up my spaghetti and we left without another word.

We arrived for our reservation a few minutes early to a nearly empty restaurant and told that we would be seated only at 5:30 on the dot and to take a seat to wait. When asked why, the hostess informed us that due to a large party (the only party in the place was about 6 people) already seated it would be terribly hard on the wait staff and kitchen to seat us before our reservation time. I struggled to make any sense of this, as a woman and her daughter who came in right after us without a reservation were immediately seated. How does making a reservation wait while seating walk-ins help the kitchen? Is there not enough kitchen staff in the first place? Why arent the customers as important as the wait and kitchen staff? Why is there no manager or a manager who actually manages the place? When it became obvious to the hostess that we were not pleased she grudgingly seated us with a snide "You are being seated 5 minutes early!" The food itself was delicious. I had Tradizionali Penne con Salsiccia, my husband had a calzone. The wait staff was attentive throughout the meal. However, as we neared the end of dining, the wait staff bustled our plates away whilst mid-bit. My dad had to snatch his piece of pizza as the plate was being removed. First they dont want to seat us, then they want us to hurry up and leave. I just dont understand what has happened to Ambrosia, and with so many other options to choose from where the staff is actually happy to seat parties, five minutes early or not, it will be a while before we return.

After a long day of travel, we were looking for a light late dinner. We were greeted at the reception desk by a pleasant man who recited the specials, which sounded interesting. Due no doubt to the recent heat wave, the a/c was blasting, but it was a bit chilly. When we aked if we could sit upstairs, he said that was his section and it was now closed...so we we were seated in the front section, ******* will be your server. We were the 4th table in this section - while we were there, one more was seated. Service was slow and inattentive. We needed a minute to decide...the wait became at least ten minutes. Ordered a glass of wine. Another wait, then, oh, I forgot your cab on the bar....The caesar salad (shared) was crisp and good, and very generous. I had ordered a bowl of minestrone - mushy vegetables, strange flavour. When I inquired politely if this was the way it was always served, I was told briskly as the server left the table, yes, and we have been doing it that way for 25 years. Okey dokey, I somehow doubt that you have been successfully serving that bowl of sludge for 25 years, but if that is how you address a customer, you better hope that people love it, because they will not be coming back for the service. Beef stroganoff had lovely tender fresh pasta, good classic stroganoff flavour but slightly tough beef. $40. for shared salad, soup, one glass of wine and one entree. By the way, the pizzas looked good...

It was good, but it wasnt blow me away food. First they set us at a table that was clearly too high for my partner, who has a shorter torso. Then they moved us right where the air conditioning came down to the middle floor, I assume, because it was VERY cold. We hurried and ate because it was so cold. When we got deserts, they were portioned fairly large, and they say that the tiramisu has espresso and rum soaked cakes and the marscapone cheese has rum flavor... That isnt what I tasted. I tasted nothing but the cheese. I love tiramisu but that one was bad!!! To top it all off though, they charged me for our dinner, and someone elses dinner too. Now I am $103 and change short in my account. I am pretty mad about that.

I had heard good things about Ambrosia in the past so I thought Id give it a try. The service was next to nothing. For example, our waitress only came to the table twice with water and chose to spend all her time at another, more tip-friendly table. In addition, there was a very lengthy wait for our main dishes and the food was almost tasteless. Since there is no shortage of good Italian food in Eugene I would recommend most any other Italian restaurant, besides Olive Garden, over Ambrosia.

Do NOT go here!! Someone on Reddit who works there just posted a bunch of pictures of the Eugene Ambrosias kitchen. Oh. My. GOD. So many health violations its a joke! The manager seriously asked the bus boy if he would collect LEFT OVER parmesan off tables and plate! Employees must push dirty dishes out of the way to make room for when they wash their hands. I wish I could say this was all a joke. Decent, if not expensive food though.

My beau and I had a fabulous server, Mary, who worked with our tight timeframe to get us to a show at The Shedd after dinner. The food was delicious. He ordered rack of lamb, rare, and it was cooked to perfection. But the accompanying mashed potatoes were lukewarm as were the veggies. I ordered the pan seared scallops! Amazing!!! But, again, the accompanying risotto was tepid:( Note to kitchen: PLATE THE SIDES AT THE SAME TIME!
