I went here for a birthday dinner with my wife. For my $80, I expected much, much more that I got. We had our choice of the crowded and noisy inside dining, or the less crowded, but equally noisy outside dining open to the sidewalk. Besides the noise, the seating arrangements in the inside dining had you basically sitting in your neighbors lap. The outside dining area had a bit more breathing room, but had even more noise. The din of the diners was augmented by the roar of passing Harley-Davidsons as they cruised by on North Main. We had only 1 drink each. My wife had an old-fashioned, priced at a rather high $10. She said it was "just OK". I had a bottle of Moretti beer, priced at $5. Now I dont care that real Italians drink their beer at room temperature. When I drink a beer from a bottle, I want it cold. I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu, the Tagliatelle at $17.50 and my wife ordered the grilled tuna priced at $29.00. I almost burst out laughing when my dish was delivered, with a line like "Oh, Ill never be able to eat all that!", but I didnt get the sense the wait staff had any sense of humor. The portion was ridiculously small. The quality was marginal. Basically some noodles with a little ground beef. I tried to eat as slow as possible, but the food was gone in 3 minutes. My wifes grilled tuna portion was equally small. There were maybe 6 very small slices of grilled tuna on a light bed of something or other. Tasty but not worth 30 bucks. The only other food we were served was some cold sliced bread, not very fresh, by a staff member who cruised around and refilled your basket. I would have expected hot, fresh-baked, rolls for what I was paying. The staff I would have to say was less than impressive. I could barely understand a word our waitress said, partly because of the noise and partly because of her accent. The food and drinks seemed to be served by different, disinterested staff members. I would not call this place friendly. The Prima website says they have "intimate dining rooms".. Great if you want to get intimate with people you dont know sitting at the next table, but not so great if you want a quiet night out. Their website also says they are "established as one of the cant-miss food and wine destinations of Northern California,". Trust me, youll do well to miss it.

The fact that this restaurant does not get a 5 star rating on Goggle is unbelievable. We have eaten at PRIMA several times over the past year and the food and service were excellent on all of these occasions. Most recently a group of us ( San Francisco foodies) had a birthday dinner there. We have ordered all of their appetizers, they were all wonderful, especially the seared Ahi tuna, grilled Romain hearts and salumi plates. Their entrees were amazing as well. Everyone loved the pappardelle with wild boar ragu and other dishes. The sommelier recommended an excellent Tuscan red that beautifully complimented our meals. We enjoyed very much the desserts and dessert wines as well. The fantastic food was complemented by fantastic service. Our waitress somehow managed to always keep our glasses full without intruding on our conversations or hovering over our table. That was some of the best service we have ever received. We look forward to our next time at PRIMA!

while the food was very good, we where not drinking. and as it seemed to me, that caused the waitress to lose interest in us as a table. i took my partner there for a special night & she does not drink. the waitress checked on us once and other than that only came to take our orders. i ordered our food medium and it came rare. we got two ginger ales which took about ten minutes to get to us. split a fantastic Caesar salad and both had the rack of lamb. after that we shared a dessert and i had a cup of coffee, i had to ask for the bill & and it came too about 99 before tax, and out the door 140. in my book so not worth it, unless you make that an hour. not to mention the other people in the restraint took far to much interest in our food, or us seeing as how we where both women.

Visited on 4 separate occasions and managed to never be waited on at the bar. We left after 15 minutes each time. I should say this was during both busy and quiet times. Absolutely inexcusable. We easily spend several thousand dollars a month eating out in WC. None of it will be with Prima.

Excellent dining in Walnut Creek; surprisingly good food and wine at a reasonable cost, with attentive service. Loved the pastas and salumi, but the monkfish was great as well. It looks to be one of the happening places in Walnut Creek. A nice dining option for the East Bay.

I have been to Primas about ten times in the past 12 years. On every visit, the food was nothing short of excellent. They have an expansive wine list, but is a bit pricy. While the restaurant is on the upper end of the price scale, it is worth every penny.

Food here was delicious. Very authentic Italian cuisine. our waiter was one of the best that i have had in quite some time. Would have gotten 5 stars but i feel there was a bit of a disconnect with their prices and quality

Easily the best Italian restaurant in the area and possibly the country. Top notch place for fantastic eats and service. The GM (Jordana) even personally checked to make sure everything was going well. FIVE STARS.

Im a steak guy. I grill em and eat em. Im damn good at it too. However, simply put, this was by far the best New York strip I have ever had. Even better than the Great Fillet of 05. That was my best. Enjoy.

We visited Prima Vini this afternoon and had the BEST service ever from a guy named Tony. He gave us a tour of the place and made us so excited to come back. Tony is the absolute BEST!!!

This is a nice and cozy restaurant. We have been there twice and both the food and wine that they pair with it have been good. Deserts are awesome as well.

Delicious, from the salad, to the risotto which was full of different flavors, to the most incredible peach dessert that was light and fragrant.
