Weve been fans of Sorrentos since I was a kid in the late 70s. I grew up down the street on Carriage Dr. and went to school right next door at Bancroft Elementary. Sundays nights after 5:30 mass at Most Precious Blood (now St. Francis of Assisi) meant a large cheese pizza from Sorrentos, artichokes and 60 minutes. Watching sports on TV was also a regular occasion for picking up Sorrentos pizza. Sadly, I dont live in Walnut Creek any more - Im way down in Las Vegas, NV. I got an email from my dad this morning that he had fallen. He got 22 stitches in his chin and a few on his hand. Hearing things like this is one of the scariest things for an adult child. This is that time of life where I have my own kids and I still keep an ear an eye out for my parents. Fortunately, dads okay. But the picture and the story just hurt my heart. I wanted to do something to let him know I was thinking about him. So I called Sorrentos to see if I could buy a cheese pizza. One of the owners, Paul, said hed love to help but they dont take credit cards on the phone. I asked if there was any chance hed take a check - knowing what a leap of faith that would take on his part. He hesitated for just the briefest of moments then said, sure, hed pay for the pizza out of his own pocket and take me on my word that Id send him a check. This really made my night. Dad will get his pizza and well watch the Warriors set the record for the most wins in a season "together" via facetime. Many thanks, Paul. The check is in the mail (seriously!).

Great restaurant. One of the very few places that serves gluten free pizza!! The pizza was better than Skipolinis, both my girlfriend and I agree on that. It is a great atmosphere. Every time I have gone here, there has been a live musician playing acoustic guitar music and many of the guests seem to be families. The staff is very friendly. The only downsides I would point out are that they present this upscale restaurant but then have paper napkins and plastic cups, its a little confusing. All in all it is a great place to eat. I would recommend giving this place a try. Oh and I noticed someone who reviewed this place complained about the cost..sheesh cheapos My gluten free pizza was $35 and thats with the tip I think. It is the quality that you pay for if you want a $5 pizza go to Safeway lol. Oh and I would not try to finish your meal if I were you. Their portions are huge. Almost every time I have been here I have had to get the rest to go. Anyways I am planning on taking my grandparents here soon to see how they like it.

We were hopeful as looking for a earlier dinner as it seemed every other Italian restaurant in Walnut Creek opened at 5pm. Service ok. Communication of understanding, non existent. The pasta was overcooked and the sauces flavorless and gastric. Sausage flavorless and tough. Half and half order of each our server could not comprehend. I should have taken heed of the signs. Been around forever but only nil reviews. Empty dining room. Salad was pretty decent though. Leftovers still in the refrigerator. Charged extra for my kid asking for gnocchi with alfredo. Hence just a bit ticked overall as was not worth the $70.00 for two adults/child for less than mediocre food. Was this review …?

What a wonderful place! I make sure to stop in here when I am up in the Bay Area. The food is so good and reminds me of my Italian families home cooking. The dip for the bread is fantastic, the PLT OMG! = ) The lunch hour has the best deals around. I mean it, I went with three people, we all left full and spent less the 6 bucks each. We split an appetizer, bottle of wine and meal that included choice of soup or salad. The staff is so warm and kind and the owners make you feel like you are part of the family. Plus it feels good to know that you are helping a local business and a local family. Simply delizioso, Alissa

This restaurant was very disappointing. The food was over priced for the poor quality and the pasta sauce was far from pleasing. And believe me, I always finish my pasta, but my half portion of rigatoni was that bad. My Nana however loved the eggplant parmesan sandwich. The only thing that stood out in this shameful Italian restaurant, was our waitress Sarah. She was basically the only one waitressing at the time and she was doing a fantastic job with a smile and genuine care for the customers.

Dont like it... Lots of kids doing the cooking as well as the wait people. Does not seem like anything is homemade (for a local family restaurant.) The bread is ordinary and the dishes I had there, on a few occasions, seems very ordinary and plain, nothing like excellent Italian food. They have a formula that works for this neighborhood, but it is not my thing. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is friendly. It just does not appeal to me.

We tried the pizza here at the recommendation of several friends. The crust was soggy, the sauce tasted as though it needed further cooking (had a very bitter tomato taste...as though it consisted of tomato paste directly from the can) and my household ended up with severe stomach distress after eating it (we didnt even finish half). For a $26 pizza, we expect more...much more.

Had an order of the Vegetarian Pizza (~$23): mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts (instead of onions). Also had an order of the Calzone (~$10): mushroom and black olive wrapped in a warm, doughy crust. Food was delicious, staff was authentic, and the ambiance was rich (live music Tu-Sa 7-9 PM)!

First time we did take out, the food was delicious. Sauce to pasta ratio was just right. Tonight we ordered the same meals and we were greatly disappointed. The two raviolis fell apart into a smushy mess and there was not enough sauce to cover the spaghetti. The flavour is good but the quality is inconsistent.

3 stars. Service wouldnt be what I would call friendly. Flavors were fine. However, the veal portions are small, calzone crust was a tad burnt but served it anyway. Appetizers showed up with the meal. Not the end of the world, but will explore other Italian restaurants before coming back.

Food was delicious. Large selection of mostly classics with half a dozen unique twists mixed in. Veggies were cooked perfectly. Portions were huge, prices not. Ambience was definitely family style. Low frills. But they had a live guitarist playing soothing tones.

Sorrento is a neighborhood family restaurant with great pizza. My son really likes the bread and the entire family loves the pizza. I have been going to Sorrento for over 20 years and enjoyed good service and great pizza.
