Terrible, terrible experience. We go here all the time and have never received an experience like this one. I ordered a scramble with mushrooms, potatoes, green peppers, and onions with an egg on top. When it came it looked like someone had literally cut up 1 full onion and 1 full pepper and threw it in there. WAY too much, and there were MAYBE 5 mushrooms all together. The potatoes tasted like they were days old, like this had been reheated. It had NO flavor. I tried to mask it by using hot sauce/hollandaise sauce/pepper/salt. It was STILL so bad I couldnt eat it. We waited OVER 20 minutes for our server to come back and check on us, it was busy and he was on the other side of the restaurant for the majority of the time we were there. Finally some other man comes and asks me if I wanted a box. I told him no, I cant eat this and continued to tell him what was wrong with it. We also asked about the two little skewers that were sticking out of my egg, when I took them out they were red at the bottom, they RE USED skewers that had been in something either like strawberries or tomatoes. He had no explanation for it, he said it could be from strawberries or because I asked for no tomatoes they may have forgot to change the skewers? It made NO SENSE AT ALL. He looked at me and just said ok, took our receipt and took the food. No sorry, no anything. Came back with a receipt with my stuff taken off of it and just said "here you go" and walked away. I hate to send food back, I hate to admit I dont like it because I feel bad and dont want to make anyones life harder than it has to be, I finally got the guts up to say something and NO ONE CARED AT ALL. We WILL NOT be going back here and I will tell everyone when asked how bad of an experience Ive had here.

When we went in we were seated promptly. The waiter was rather rude when he was asked for a drink menu saying I dont know where one is right now. My granddaughter did point out a drink menu to the waiter when he came back to take our order, My granddaughter ordered a strawberry milkshake and she had to try and mix it herself as it came with big chunks of ice cream not mixed in like a milkshake should be. We ordered our food and if you want food that is either under cooked or burnt then you would like to eat here. My granddaughter ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, bagel w/ cream cheese/bacon and choc chip pancakes. The eggs were not cooked all the way the cream cheese was bad the bacon rubbery and uncuttable. My daughter ordered the strawberry/banana french toast and the bread was burnt on the underside. I ordered 2 eggs over easy with hashbrowns/bacon and fresh fruit. My egg whites were very runny not like they should have been cooked. My bacon had pieces of onion grilled on it. My fruit was warm. Therefore nothing was really etible. The manager tried telling me for my eggs I needed to order them as over medium and I let him know that where ever I go I always order them over easy and have never had a problem. My daughter went to move her plate of french toast and the manager just ripped it right out of her hands. We will NOT return to this particular location. They did end up only charging me for my milk and the coffee. But I had to wait almost 10 minutes for the receipt to go pay for those. I almost walked out because of them being so slow getting me the updated receipt. I am not happy that I even have to give a star because they dont deserve even 1 star.

I recently went in to this location to have breakfast, and was in the mood for an omelet. Ive been there before, but its been a while. In these previous experiences, I usually ordered skillets, but Ive had omelets at this and other Village Inns and had the expected folded over eggy yumminess come out to be attacked by my fork! Not this time, sadly. This time, what was proudly presented to me by the waiter was a pile of scrambled eggs with the omelet filling mixed in. When I told the waiter that he was bringing this to the wrong table, and that I ordered an omelet, not a scrambled egg plate, he told me that this was am Omelet. I had the waiter take it back and to bring me an omelet. I could hear him talking quite loudly about it in the kitchen, at which point I decided that perhaps I needed to go spend my money elsewhere, and asked the manager for a check for my coffee. He asked why I was leaving, and I told him that the waiter and cook was insisting that the scrambled egg plate brought to me was an omelet, at which point the manager agreed with his employees. He went so far as to explain that this was how his cook was Trained to make All the egg dishes. I had to pick up a menu, flip to a Picture of an Omelet, and show him what an omelet was actually supposed to look like. He waived my coffee charge, and I went to Elmers and had a lovely omelet. =) Moral of the story. Dont expect to have an omelet at this Village Inn, the cooks there are not properly trained to make them.

This place does breakfast food really well, I dont know that I ever had anything beyond the lunch menu but Ive enjoyed almost everything Ive had. This is typical American comfort food in the same vein of IHOP Sharis with a little bit more home town feel. The owner is omnipresent and a staple within the restaurant. The staff is very attentive a large number of TVs with sporting events on in the background. the pies are also good and there are a number of daily specials worth checking out including an all you can eat fish and chips day.

Ug. Went this morning for a quick diner-type breakfast. My scrambled eggs were reconstituted and inedible - really disgusting. My husband ordered his eggs over easy, and they were practically raw. The sausage was nasty. They had signs all over that said "Free Pie Wednesday" but it turned out to only be a choice of three pies, and they refused to let us take them to go. So much for that. The waitress was nice but that was the only positive. We will not be back.

I ordered the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes covered with country gravy, and buttermilk biscuit, lemon meringue pie. Sounds delicious, doesnt it? The only item acceptable was the pie. The meat was tough, the gravy was gloppy, the potatoes were instant, the biscuit turned to paste. $8.19 for the Early Bird Special. I should have read the reviews before going over there. I hadnt been in years and I had memories of the good food. Never again.

The V-I-B (Village Inn Breakfast) has become a weekend staple for me and my partner. Its cheap, fast, and the service is always great at this location. Its not a fancy Portland breakfast, but it doesnt claim to be nor will it hurt your wallet like some of the trendier restaurants around town. Simple, affordable, and with great employees... Cant ask for much more!
