The bf wanted to eat here so we had another middling meal at Sorella. On a weekday the place is pretty uncrowded, but strangely still very noisy. I think the acoustics are bad-hard to have a conversation when we could hear people two tables away. Kudos on the gf pasta options, but in the end, my seafood pasta meal upset my stomach, if you know what I mean. My bf had a salmon caesar salad which was good, actually. Good dressing and the right amount of it. If you like cheese, in particular parmesan cheese, this is your restaurant-they hand it out and sprinkle it around liberally. Dont come here if you dont like cheese because its everywhere. Service was good, but not great. I still prefer Barefoot or Fradelizios food over Sorella. It was fine, but honestly Id rather eat at home.

Outstanding dinner in a delightful new restaurant in Fairfax. Chef Whitman seems to have kept all of those favorites from his previous place of employ as well as added a number of new and delicious dishes. I look forward to visiting again and branching out from the ever amazing Miso Glazed Black Cod and on to the various skewers and tempura. Great sake selection, but youd expect that from the name. Go with friends so you can sample a wider variety of inventive but simply outstanding Japanese inspired dishes. Call ahead. Popular and destined to be more so.

I have known Chef Scott Whitman for many years from his executive chef work with Scotts Seafood in Hawaii to his amazingly creative times with Sushi Ran. However, I was extremely excited to see him take his creativity to a new level and open up his new restaurant in Fairfax. The menu was very well planned and every creation was superb. On top of the fantastic food, the decor of the restaurant gives you the feel of a quant Japanese pub off the beaten path in Kyoto. It is a must. You will add it to your short list of "go to favorites". Kieffer

Amazing experience if youre willing to treat yourself. Best house sake youll find anywhere and since the manager need to relocate us to a booth from our 2 seater (which was better for us anyways, full back support plus privacy) she gave us free corn tempura which was amazing, although I think it would have been better if it was rice instead of corn (personal preference). And free dessert ( donought holes with the best Carmel sauce Ive ever had) . The takoyaki and wagyu beef is absolutely to die for.

A proper izakaya in Marin! With a wonderful selection of delectable and authentic but creative Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi and crudo, tempura, okonomiyaki, yakitori and other skewers. Standouts include beef tataki and hamachi kama (yellowtail collar), both melt-in your-mouth! Unfortunately the word is out so the wait is long, but at least its worth it!

I cant tell you how happy I am that not only did Fairfax finally get a sushi restaurant but such an excellent one. My husband and I went to dinner not long after it opened and the service was excellent, the food delicious. Only 4 stars here because the servings were not as generous as we would have hoped for the price. I would go back there again.

Great food hands down. The food taste fresh and delicious. Ive been to a lot of great sushi places in the bay area and Village Sake is definitely one of my favorites. I know a few other great places with the same fresh delicious food and friendly atmosphere with cheaper prices on the menu but this place is worth the extra buck.

Great service, great food but a bit hard to get into. Food is very similar to Sushi Ran. Seasonal greens salad is amazing, nigiri is well proportioned and delicious, tempura green beans are good aswell. I would also recommend the donuts for dessert.

Izakaya with a modern Marin twist! Yes- its hard to get in but worth the try! Sushi and sashimi selections are stellar. Service is warm and friendly. Dont have to go all the way to Tokyo- just drive to Fairfax and taste the real thing!

We moved to Fairfax a year ago and couldnt believe our luck to find Village Sake a walk from home. Incredibly fresh fish, local, seasonal veg all served fast and with a smile. Good beer choices too. Love this place.

One of the best Japanese meals Ive had! The scallop chive dumplings and beef tataki were incredible. Quick, friendly service. No bookings but you can call ahead to put your name down.
