My girlfriend and I went to Degage a few weeks ago for "Sweetest Day." We had been to Degage once before and had a positive experience. I suppose every place can have an off night, and this was apparently one for them. My girlfriends food was fine, though not spectacular for the price. I had the filet Mignon, which was terrible. Filet Mignon is supposed to be about the most tender cut of meat you can get, plus the menu claimed it was well aged. The cut I got was as tough as a cheap sirloin and while ordered cooked medium, was raw in the middle while seared on the outside. This was a thick cut of meat, and it does take some skill to cook a thick steak correctly, but this is what you pay for, and you expect it to be executed correctly, especially when an entree costs around $50. Im not talking a little pink either, but blood-red. The asparagus spears were also limp, bland, and lifeless. Our bread, served before and during the meal, was this miniature French loaf. Trendy I suppose, but not particularly good, nor very tender. Our waitress was relatively attentive, but seemed pretty unwilling to do much for me, coming off as more defensive than sympathetic. She offered to have them cook my steak some more. I would have preferred to just get something else at this point, but didnt want to wait another 30-45 minutes for it, so I agreed. The steak came back slightly more cooked, but not by much. She then offered to take it back a 3rd. time. This would have been a poor solution in the cheapest chain restaurant, but is completely unacceptable in a restaurant thats apparently trying (and failing badly) to be a four-star dining experience. I complained about the steak, and she offered to talk to the manager and "see what she could do." After a lengthy wait, she returned with a $5 gift card, usable on our next visit. (not likely) Are you kidding me? The manager either didnt have the guts or the courtesy to come out himself and talk to us. (or perhaps she never even told him) When I told our waitress that I thought this was pathetic, she said he was busy tending bar due to the problems they were having. Which is a pretty lame excuse at best. I should also mention that we had a reservation, so we got right in, but an elderly woman with a walker and her friend did not, and were told it would be about a 45 minute wait. The whole time we were eating, there was an empty booth right across from us. By the time we were done, there were several. Finally, this poor woman and her friend were seated just as we were about to leave. My gf gave our "generous" gift card to them to use, as we will have no use for it. There were also gnats in evidence flying around our table. (in October) This usually means an infested drain in the bar or kitchen. Again, not something youd expect in a restaurant that wants to be high-end. Overall, I would rate our experience as very substandard, though the decor and entertainment were eclectic. If Degage wants to live up to its hype though, it has a very long way to go operationally.

My wife and I made reservations for Valentines Day which is also our anniversary. We ended up being seated in the lounge (an unrequested honor that cost an extra $12.00) next to the door, making it a truly chilling experience. I noticed several of the patron decided to eat with their winter coats on.Being Valentines Day, they decided to go with a set menu, four courses for $100.00, presumably to expedite the service and to make every ones experience better. This plan did not work. The four courses were actually 3 and a half as you had to share an appetizer or dessert, and the serving portions were ridiculously small, (the entree was a fillet that was no more than 2 oz.) which if you took your time you could easily finish in less than 5 minutes. The problem was you then had to wait at least a half hour for the next course. during this wait, dishes were not cleared so that the empty bread basket and used silverware were on the table the entire night. When the food did arrive, it was cold, The French Onion Soup was so cold that the "melted cheese on top" needed to be cut with a knife. Both of our 2 oz. fillets were cold and before we were offered our dessert choice, they had run out of our chosen dessert. When I was asked for my dessert choice I requested our check to be brought with it and that I would also like to speak to the manager. After I made my choice, the pre-cut, pre-prepared, slice of cheese cake took an additional 20 minutes to be delivered to the table, the bill came 15 minutes after that and the manager showed up 10 minutes after the bill. He offered a 7% discount and a coupon for my next visit. I told him that this was my last visit and he then took off the cover that was charged for the "privilege" of eating in the lounge and 25%. Even after that the bill was over $85. As we left, I noticed patrons who had been there longer than us, still waiting for their desserts, dirty dishes, silverware and empty bread baskets, littering their tables and a variety of wait staff scurrying around in an unproductive, unorganized, bewilderment. That the first time that I saw the manager was when I requested him, more than 2 hours after we were seated, more than likely lead to the lack of organization and terrible service that ran rampant on the night. This was by far, the WORST dining experience of our life. Degage tried way to hard to give their establishment the impression of "class" but put no effort into giving the service that you would expect in a finer restaurant. This was 2 1/2 hours of misery and appointment. Stay away

We were there tonight and was seated in a booth~~I was looking over at a huge mess that was left by customers who had just left they had two unruly children who were throwing food and crap everywhere including dishes~~Needless to say there was food everywhere~ the bus boy came over to the table after they had left and started to clean up at least that’s what I thought he was going to do~ He cleared the table of the dirty dishes and never wiped off the table cloth just took it off the table and turned it over and trust me it was filthy~~ he never swept up the food on the floor kicked it under the table! If that wasnt bad enough he went over to another table and cleared the dishes and turned over the table cloth~~So our waiter came over and I said oh my god really you guys dont change the table cloths you just turn them over? He said yes we try to get at least two uses out of them~~~I about threw up no really~~~So the manger a young dark haired girl comes over to our table and she said how is everything I said well I think your practice of reusing tablecloths is sickening~ I said look you can even still see the food on the tablecloth~ She said oh yes I know but he is new and he just didnt understand and sometimes you have to really stay on top of the help~~~I said that that was really sick and I bet it was a food violation in the making~~Well as we are getting ready to leave the bus boy goes over to the table that was still unused and replaced the cloth but it was purely for show I am sure! I will not be going back anytime soon if they will do that kind of crap where people can see them I am worried what they do where you cant see them~~~
