To whom it may concern, Ive been to this establishment three times and now I will no longer return. My guest and I arrived at 12:30 pm on 5/1/2016 and the restaurant was packed. No problem, the food is great so I can understand why. We awkwardly stand at the bar for a couple of minutes before were finally addressed. We speak to one of the servers, a tall, bald gentleman and we ask if we could sit outside. He informs us that hes not serving outside because it is too cold. He made it sound as if service outside was possible, but he didnt want to do it. I wish I could say this was the worst of my interactions with him, but throughout the entire process of waiting for a table, this gentleman finds new and horrific ways to consistently butcher the experience. My guest and I stand for a bit longer and two other people come in, he then approaches us with an idea. He says we can have a communal 4 top in the back room. My guest and I agree but the other two patrons dont. I say fine, well just take the table. This man immediately backpedals and then tells us the table isnt available for just two. I ask why not, and then he finally relents. Im thinking that we will finally be sat, which is good. But boy was I mistaken. He shows us to the backroom with a table covered in backpack and coats from the staff. My guest and I watch as he clears off this table obviously not meant for service and I cant help but be embarrassed. We sit at the table for another ten to fifteen minutes and then realize that weve been forgotten. I walk into the main room and ask for water, a menu and utensils. He nods and tells me he will be with us shortly. After a few minutes he asks us to get up and then PROCEEDS TO GIVE OUR TABLE AWAY. In exchange for seats at the bar, WITHOUT TELLING US WHAT HE WAS DOING. We sit at the bar and then we finally get to eat. I will never, ever come back to this restaurant and I will personally see to it that everyone I know and even people I dont know hear about the despicable service I received at this establish. I was ashamed to bring my guest there and Im appalled that there was someone there who thought this style (or lack thereof) of service was acceptable. I certainly wish you and your staff well, but I do not desire to see Le Petite Zinc survive if it only exists to taint the caliber of the restaurants in the Detroit area. Have yourself a fantastic day.

First, cleanliness is an issue. The ceiling fans are covered in dust. So that made me glad they werent being used the day I went, otherwise that stuff would be blowing all around the restaurant. I chose the roast chicken salad. I only call it roast chicken because that is what the restaurant did. From the bland taste and the consistency, I suspect it was chicken from a can. The salad lacked any dressing. Dressing might have tied it together as being a complete dish. In this case it was bland chicken, bitter greens, slices of potato, a few green beans and some tomato. All it was, was those ingredients put on a plate. The reason I chose the roast chicken was because in the Paris edition of the food/travel show "Ill Have What Phils Having", the French locals say an indicator of how good a restaurant is, is its roast chicken. Based on my meal, I believe Le Petit Zinc is to French cuisine as Chef Boyardee is to Italian. My wife had the smoked salmon plate. It was better than mine but in this case it wasnt all that special. It was because her meal included capers that made it have some flavor.

Never been to Europe but it gives me that congested European feel, how they have plenty small cafés & shops. However, I went on a Sunday & it wasnt too crowded. There were 3 young attractive women there hustling & bustling, polite & attentive as they could be. I will say the sweet variations of crêpes is where they need to improve. I ordered a bananas & chocolate crepe. The bananas werent caramelized or grilled for added flair/flavor and the chocolate was just OTC chocolate syrup. The veggie stew crêpe was much much better and I realized if youre in the mood for crêpes it better be savory for this place. Sandwiches looked & smelled delightful as well. The outdoor patio is the kicker. Overall it has a "homey" indie cafe feel but somewhat limited menu.

had a wonderful meal. truly inspired by traditional french cuisine, well executed and well thought out. there is much consideration put into this restaurant both by its front and back of the house staff ( the difference is about 2 ft from front to back of house ) I was honestly quite impressed and happily delighted to find such a place downtown. not only is le petit zinc good for the city, it is good for the detroit restaurant and food scene. i can only hope that the cooks and chefs as well as management hold philosophies rooted in good quality ingredients and wholesome down to earth cooking. i will now frequent le petit zinc to find not only good food, but good people and a quaint, unique atmosphere.

We liked our impromptu lunch well enough after driving past. The outdoor patio portion was nice, but I wish it would have been slightly cooler outside to be comfortable. The chairs on the inside need a little bit of loving, because when they get pushed on the floor, it shrieks something terrible. But, the service was a touch slow, but I suppose that can be chalked up to the type of place this is. I had the eggs with the brie, fresh fruits, potatoes, and croissant. It was a marvelous meal, but the reason this place is a 4 and not a 5 was the eggs. They were just super plain in comparison to the rest of the meal. Had they some sort of flavor, that would have been amazing.

I love this restaurant and every time we hope that the lunch service for us business types with one hour time will be enough - but while the food is fabulous, the garden is enchanting, the service is very very slow. Today the place wasnt busy at 1:15 when we arrived, but we didnt get to order for 15 minutes - then it took another 20 minutes to get the food. The food I understand waiting for. I hate to complain about this place, but if you have only an hour for lunch - this might not be the smartest choice. The next time I go - I will make sure that I have unlimited time. But again - this place has wonderful food and outdoor atmosphere.

This is all-around a great place to go to brunch by yourself, w/ a friend, or w/ a group of friends. The place has an open floor plan, so you can see your food being made. If you order a coffee/cafe mocha, theyll bring it out to you in a giant bowl w/ whipped cream - a delicious treat to share! And the crepes are fantastic, and served with fresh greens. A very authentic and delicious take on crepes and a delightful atmosphere w/ a solid waitstaff (really, just a couple neighborhood young people).
