I had such a pleasant experience here and would totally come back. A friend and I came to Sage for lunch this week since I had never been and its one of his favorite places in town. I had heard so many good things about Sage so I was really excited to eat there! The menu at Sage changes every day, so you can try a lot of different items if you go frequently. I love rotating menus because they always keep you guessing and its a very fresh concept. My friend and I started with the sweet potato bisque. This soup was delicious! I guess the soup also changes every day. Anyway, the sweet potato soup was thick and creamy, and had a little spice. It was one of the best soups I have ever had. Not too heavy but definitely rich and full of flavor. For my entree, I ordered the salmon with extra vegetables. The vegetables were cooked to perfection -- drizzled with a little tomato vinaigrette, they had plenty of flavor that would make even a vegetable hater fall in love. The salmon was a decent portion and was seasoned perfectly. I love salmon and would totally come back to eat their salmon. My friend ordered the steak frites and let me try some of it. It was EXCELLENT and I would definitely order that the next time I come in. The mushrooms and cheese on top of the steak frites were so crazy full of decadent flavor and the steak was cooked perfectly, like a nice medium. I was pretty full after eating here, so I didnt get to try any of the desserts, but the menu looked really diverse. I think theres something for everybody here. The quiche seemed to be quite popular as many people at other tables had ordered it. It was also huge! Maybe the largest slices of quiche Ive ever seen. Definitely one of Tallahassees best! I am glad I came in to eat here!

A restaurant experience is based on a number of things: service, food quality, comfort, atmosphere and selection. Each person puts an emphasis on one or more of these things. Personally I consider service and food quality to be the top two in my dining experience. Thats why I say if you consider service, skip Sage restaurant. The waiters arent snooty or rude, but they sure are slow. The food takes forever to leave the kitchen to. Dont try to eat here for a lunch unless youre a retiree and have most of the afternoon to lounge around. During lunch we sat for 45 minutes since ordering before receiving out food. Mind you it was 10 minutes before we were served and then it took another 20 minutes to get the check. While sitting there (with nothing better to do) we estimated the service time between tables. It came out right around 10 minutes. So if you have 4 tables that have ordered before you... well, do the math. Food quality was decent. They use fresh ingredients and try to put together interesting combinations, but they dont necessarily go together so well. I had the roast beef sandwich which had a definite bitterness to it. Once I picked off the offending ingredient the meal became much better. When all is said and done its always best to give new restaurants a shot. I did so even after reading the other posted review ("Eat at your grandmas...") thinking it may have been a bad experience. After eating here myself, I have to say that the review is accurate. Hopefully this and the other review will convince you to enjoy a meal somewhere else when youre strapped for time and on some future lazy Sunday you can test the validity of what youve read here.

At a restaurant where youre asked if you have lunch reservations when you arrive at a generally blue-haired time slot (11:25), you quickly realize its the sort of restaurant that requires reservations for those who wish to show up at more desirable times (e.g., 12:30-1:30). Sage has a fantastic yet abbreviated menu focused on high-impact dishes. No option comes across as milquetoast. In fact, the opposite is true. Dishes present their credentials (on paper) as conquerors of gastronomic campaigns - culinary warriors returning from fantastic adventures in kitchens and dining tables of the most sought-after sort. Enough of my poor prose - on with the opining! Ordered the Steak Frites - rare. I suspect it was either hanger steak or perhaps even flap steak. Tremendous flavor. sauce lightly dabbed on top, arugula wilted beneath and "a tangle" of French fried pertaters. Best Steak Frites Ive had outside of The Hexagon! Dad had the shrimp/andouille/coarse grits which he very much enjoyed. Sage offers a level of cuisine that holds its own against any 4-star/4-diamond restaurant Ive ever known - possibly even some 5/5s too!

Using food quality, atmosphere, service, and experience as criteria, I must review the restaurant with the worst possible rating. Not only were these key components missing from the dining experience, wait staff and management were rude, condescending and arrogant. I eat out frequently, as I am a bachelor and dont enjoy cooking for one. I have eaten at all of Tallahassees fine dining establishments and typically enjoy Clusters, Cyprus, Cool Beanz, Fusion, etc. This was the worst of all of those hands down. Upon entering the establishment, the fumbling hostess was not sure if she could accommodate my two party table. After leaving for the car, one of the waitresses came out and said that the hostess was wrong and that they could seat us. I ordered the meatloaf which came out plopped on a plate with little color and pizazz. The food was so heavily salted that you couldnt eat it. The mash potatoes were decent. In the end, the management and serving staff were beyond rude to us. We left completely dissatisfied by the whole experience. Proceed with caution to this establishment. I will NEVER return.

This is one of the best restaurants that I have been to in years!! Hands down!! We went as a group and sat at the bar. The bartenders were unbelievable!!! They made the most amazing drinks and we trusted them fully with whatever they felt like making. They made a different drink for each person and every single one was spectacular!! The food was amazing as well! We ordered three apps and 4 different entrees and every single one was awesome. I wish I lived closer because this would be one of my staple monthly restaurants!! We will be back!!

The food was top notch; creative, well prepared, and fresh. The service was excellent as well. Jordan in particular was very kind and professional. Some reviewers have had a different experience, but mine was great, and I hope others will give Sage the opportunity to prove it. As someone who has dined at all of Tallahassees upscale eateries over the years Im content in saying Sage is certainly one of the best restaurants in town.

I loved watching my wife, a foodie, eating her food, trout with almonds and the "hint of citrus" dark beer, and the red velvet cake with a coffee sause. But just as fun was watching Luis give great enthusiastic descriptions of each food. I thought it was a scene from "When Harry Met Sally" watching her enjoy her food so much. We love eating outside, the perfect weather, the nearby tables patrons sharing comments like old friends.

Went for a birthday lunch with my mother and toddler. Not an eye was batted that I had my little one in a nice restaurant (she was extremely quiet). The chef even made her an off menu grilled cheese sandwich. The server and staff were excellent. Not a place I would normally bring a small child but they made us feel very welcome. Quiche and chicken and mushroom crepes were amazing!
