Dont expect a wonderful french bakery overflowing with delicious baked goods or mildly happy service. Nowhere in Dublin to have a decent breakfast. 8am and theres an odd cafeteria style counter to slide your school lunch program tray along. Stood at the entrance for a couple minutes expecting to be seated before I realized this. Display cases with a couple REALLY sad looking croissants and single serving quiches that appeared to be left over from the day before. NO selection of bakery treats at this "french bakery". Unbelievably limited menu so I foolishly order a "parisienne omlette". Nasty tiny pieces of packaged sliced water added ham you find at a gas station, a couple black slices of canned, NOT FRESH mushroom and some mediocre sliced swiss cheese again from a grocery store package. Egg so thin it resembles a crepe instead of a fluffy, cream added omlette properly done. Sitting on a plate, alone and sad without even a garnish of something colorful, no taters precious, nothing. The poor, somewhat harried, apparently french woman whom I couldnt understand despite my grasp of conversational french was overwhelmed despite there being almost nobody there brought me a bowl of gruel and rasberries instead of my omlette, then switched it with another guy at another table. Nothing special "french" coffee and a piece of baguette bread she wrapped in paper rounded out this disappointing Rick Steves journey into authentic gallic cuisine. $12 later I left.

My family dined this evening at the La Chatelaine in Dublin, Ohio. We have enjoyed visits to the Arlington and Worthington locations on many occasions. This visit was not like any of the others. Our waitress was short, unhelpful, uneducated about the menu, and offered us no assistance with a high chair or a booster chair (we had to locate them our self and set the table accordingly). Furthermore, the manager or hostess (hard to tell if anyone had a clue how to run a restaurant) decided to run out and hop on a trolley offering rides to visitors to Dublin this evening. I found that to be quiet surprising and disturbing. We asked our waitress to bring our sons food out early and it came out after our dinners because she forgot to place the order. After the food came our son was ready to go and so we tried to quickly enjoy some decent, but uneventful dishes. We will never return to this location again. Its sad when a sucessful local restaurant group fails so miserably when expanding its operations. My best guess is that this establishment will no longer be open after this year. Thanks for reading.

...probably more. Ive come here for breakfast on several occasions and have had nothing but impeccable service, fantastic breakfast, and great conversation. The layout of the restaurant involves several different small to medium sized dining areas grouped together in a way so you wont have any trouble finding a private corner for your conversation. You might have trouble with a very large party (more than 10) but for 2-8 this would be a great place to grab a cup of coffee, anything off the breakfast menu, and be very late getting into the office. Staff and Food Im not sure where some of these reviews are coming from, the staff Ive met there spoke excellent French (mine is just passable) the baguettes and croissants were the closest Ive had to real French baking since I was last in Paris, the "Pain au chocolat" (essentially a croissant with chocolate inside) was fantastic and their quiches were rich and decadent without being greasy.

We were in Dublin for the Irish Fest, visiting from the Niagara Falls, NY, area. We wanted to find a place for breakfast on our way home, but we didnt want chain restaurant food. My daughter found this place, and what a find! Prices were reasonable and the food was outstanding! I may have had the best omelet Ive ever had at this lovely little bistro. It was a pleasure to enjoy breakfast on the patio on a beautiful summer morning. Wish I lived a little closer to enjoy this little gem more often!

As a frequent patron of this establishment, its really quite amazing that the service is so unfriendly every time I stop in. I am addicted to some of their dishes and soups but I agree that its a bit overpriced for what you get. The lunch combo is quite good and actually not a bad value, but dont bother with the french onion soup, its horrible. So if you want to experience a bit of French arrogance and good food this is the place. Maybe one day Ill get a "Thanks for coming in!"

Havent any of you whiners ever been to France before? In France, resaurant owners dont sit there and coddle you. And also, to the racist JA who commented on here - in France they will hire the many exiles from African and Islamic countries who flood into France so actually it is kind of authentic to have Hispanic workers. Anyways, whats most important - their pastries are right on par with the pastries found on the streets of Paris. Oh la la!

Seemingly authentic French cuisine. Both times that I have been here the food was cooked perfectly and the wide selection of pastries were very delicious. Figuring out how to move through the line and order what you want the first time can be a bit of a challenge, but itll be worth figuring out for the food that they offer.

AMAZING food and wonderful cafe atmosphere. Pricey, but worth it. The only reason I cant give it 5 stars is because of the sub par service and attitude of the staff the last time I went for breakfast. Fortunately, that was the only time that Ive had a problem at a La Chat.

Food was good, store has a cool vibe. The worst customer service. I met 5 of their employees and they were argumentative, rude, and lazy. This was on a Saturday at 11:30. Maybe try another shift? Thats as fair as I can be. The culture here has some serious problems.

I had 3 fromages, seriously bad, its like having Mac and cheese from a fast food restaurant. I expected it to have at least one French cheese. I went during lunch and had to wait in the line for a long time, service was not good. Lot of old people hang out there.

Wildly expensive for what you get, but it is delicious. Its also very cute inside and out. Its right in downtown Dublin, so its close to a lot of other places. If youre not going at peak hours, theres a parking lot right behind with plenty of spaces.

Well, it is too bad that the service is so unfriendly and arrogant, especially at a new location. The foods are great and authentic, though. So if you are willing to put up with the Euro-style, unsmiling customer service, you will be happy.

The restaurant wasnt very busy and our sandwiches took at least 20 minutes to come out. My salami sandwich only had 3 or 4 very small slices of salami on it. Very disappointed to say the least.
