What a lovely evening we had. Celebrated my birthday and the entire evening was great. This is my second time there and your treated A+, from the moment you RSVP your special occasion, to meeting the concierge, sitting down and meeting your personal staff member that will cater you for the evening. Everyone was awesome, but kudos goes to our Joseph who treated us like golden. He was cordial and well informed on the finest of details on all the menu options. Even his suggestions to what wine would be suited paired to each meal. Thank you Joseph to making it a memorable day. For those new to the area, check again, Refectory also has special occasions where you can pay one price for a private event room with no more than 50 guest (believe check ahead) where you will receive the chefs choice menu while being entertained by selected musicians. We couldnt attend one of them but look forward to scheduling an event soon.

The food was fantastic and I would easily give 5 stars if there had not been one small, but important negative aspect. I came here with my girlfriend in early fall 2015 and we had normal clothes on, but the room that we were in was so crazily cooled down by air conditioning that we were really freezing. The waiter was very nice, but essentially told us that there is not much he can do to make us feel more comfortable because the temperature is centrally controlled. Instead he had to fold up sheets to put them on the air vents of the air conditioner close to our table. This was a nice gesture, but not very helpful because the blowing air would just blow those sheets away. Once we were done eating the (truly amazing) food, we only wanted to leave as quickly as possible to get warm again.

The food was good, but nothing I would return for for the price. Ive had a lot better. Although I loved our waiter, the wait time between courses was literally 30 minutes. Their wines/cocktails were very reasonably priced considering. I ate the bread (warm and yummy, but disappointed when they served it with unsalted butter) seafood strudel (delicious), tried my friends corn salad (delicious), beef shoulder (delicious, but the vegetable accompanists needed work--and salt), tried my friends duck (delicious), creme brulee (good, but not the most amazing Ive tasted. The best Ive tasted is actually at the The Taj in Boston), and the caramel cheesecake (I had a moment, it was scrumptious--but caramel is one of my favorite flavors, so Im biased).

Simply fabulous!!! So awesome its beyond marvelous. My husband took me here for dinner on my birthday and the only word I could say the entire evening was WOW! Although we were not VIP, we most certainly received VIP services. Everything (the servers, the food, the wine, the live music, the atmosphere (sooooo romantic!), and even the other guests were fantastic - everyone sang happy birthday to me. I was definitely Cinderella. We plan to attend in the very near future. Please add this restaurant to your bucket list although I prefer to say to do list and I promise you will not regret it. Thank you again, Refectory, for such a wonderful evening and we look forward to our return.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Refectory! The food is one of the most exquisite culinary experiences Ive ever had! The owner was serving as the host when I arrived and he was so humble and welcoming. He treated my mom and I like we were the only customers in the entire restaurant, even though he had plenty of other customers to tend to. Although at first glance, prices seem high, they are really more than fair for the food you get. The Bistro side offers a very affordable yet fine dining experience if youre looking to save money. Forget the fancy chain, please go support this local gem!

A great dining experience and atmosphere. First of all our waiter, Juan, was just amazing and so helpful with every part of our meal. From explanation of dishes to suggestions in appetizers to pairing of wine with our meals, he truly made our dining experience great. The food was exceptional from the cauliflower salad to the lamb every bite was a pleasure. The creme brulee was just completely amazing as well. Every dish that we had between my wife and I were found ourselves talking about how great everything was. I would highly recommend for a special occasion dinner and be prepared to enjoy yourself.

While the ambiance was pretty cool and different (a church built in the 1800s) and the service was very attentive, the food, which is why we go to the restaurant in the first place, was not far above mediocre and overpriced. My salmon was dry and the soiree of flavor was underwhelming. My creme brulee was too burnt on the top as well. For full disclosure, I visited during restaurant week, so maybe theyre being super-busy had an effect on the food. I however, will not be going back. The wine list is quite impressive though.

I think the Refectory is one of Columbus best restaurants. Its classy, with moody lighting and a fine dining look and feel. The chefs took my significant other and I along for a journey of taste for nearly three hours. We sampled the seafood terrine, roasted duck breast and the salmon pavé. Each dish had an explosion of flavor, many unique, as there were endless combinations, several of which that I had never tried nor thought to combine, yet came together in a flurry of fluidity. So delicious.

The Refectory is superb. The service is top notch, feeling thoughtful, always available, but never intrusive, and the waiters can explain and recommend literally everything (alone or based on or to complement anything else) on their menu and even more extensive wine menu (one of the best Ive seen). The ambiance is great. The building is a converted once-church, and it blends comfort with rustic charm and high sophistication. And the food! Oh, the food. It simply speaks for itself.

There is no other place in Columbus worth visiting for a wonderful experience of find dining. The food served at The Refectory is unbelievably hard to find in a state such as Ohio. It throws your tastebuds in a roller coaster, which does not end until you are driving home talking about how wonderful your meal was. Its unique food is worth the higher cost alone, but with the addition of the atmosphere, drink list, and service this exquisite restaurant deserves nothing but 5 stars.

What a neat old building and exceptional atmosphere, food was well explained and prepared to excellence! 3.5 of 5 because a 730 reservation didnt seat until well after 8 (5 minutes early) and my water glass emptied twice without refill and there were black flakes from the bottom of the pitcher of water on one glass...they did the hard stuff well but could use work on the easy. I would go back just for the server and food(Justin great!!)

This is a wonderful place with a wonderful owner who really cares about providing excellent customer service. We had a less than perfect experience the last time we were in and the owner went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. The food here is incredible- I highly recommend checking it out, particularly for a special occasion although a random weekday night also works. Such a charming restaurant.

My wife and I had dinner at the Refectory for her birthday March 16. We enjoyed all the extra thoughtful touches by our attentive server, Steve. Weve been to the Refectory several times over the years and this place remains an absolute gem that shines above all in the Columbus area! The cuisine, presentation, hushed ambiance, and silky smooth service are unmatched. Thanks again for a great evening!
