Weve been wanting to try the Echo restaurant for a long time, and this weekend we finally got around to it. While the line out the door initially scared us, the people waiting in that line told us that it was a first come, first serve line, and that it usually moved pretty fast. This served to be true, as we were seated and had our order taken in about 20 minutes. I ordered the Hot Mess, and let me tell you, that thing is glorious. Its the perfect comfort breakfast food catastrophe, featuring all of your favorites mashed into one plate. I ordered a biscuit and goetta on the side, and decided to add those two into the mix as well for an even better experience. This will definitely be entering my weekend brunch rotation. If youre in Hyde Park and dont feel like waiting to get into the usual suspects in the brunch world, give The Echo a try!

This place is just fine. You can get some decent diner food. I met some friends there this morning. You seat your self and luckily we managed to find a table for the five of us. Our waitress wasnt particularly attentive or friendly. But the food was good. Everyone seemed happy with what they ordered. I got the Hot Mess - home fries, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and cheese without the gravy. It wasnt quite as big as I was expecting - the name Hot Mess screams bold and crazy to me... I think my friend Mr. Y made a tasty choice - eggs, bacon, home fries and a waffle. I was surprised at how small my friend Mr. Ks order of French Toast was. It was about 1.5 inches thick, but it looked like just two half pieces. All in all. I would go back, but I probably wouldnt seek it out.

Based on all the 5 star reviews, maybe it was a rare, bad/okay experience, but I wasnt too impressed. The wait to be seated was no big deal and expected for a high-rated breakfast place on a Sunday morning. But the wait for our food (two pretty simple dishes) was a little ridiculous-- a 1 hour wait for biscuits and gravy with bacon and the waffle with fried chicken. The waiter did seem overwhelmed and scatterbrained, but an hour for those is insane. Both dishes were pretty average, but we will probably be back to try different dishes and hope the experience matches up with the good ratings next time. Tip: if youre from the South, skip the biscuits and gravy because you will be disappointed!

Today I had for lunch turkey dinner. Comes with two side orders, I chose cottage cheese always very fresh. Also steam spinach bright green and excellent taste. With dinner roll and cranberry sauce, coffee and water. Another great lunch or dinner made by the Echo Restaurant. One of our best local eating establishments around Hyde Park at a very decent price. Why dont you stop in and give them a try.

Stunningly good. A delightful local dive with a charming atmosphere. The "Go Green Mess," made up of a stack of home fries, egg whites, spinach, zucchini, feta cheese, and avocado served with salsa, is quite delicious, and you really ought to get it with the locally-sourced rosemary multigrain toast if they have it.

This is my favorite diner in all of Cincinnati. They have your standard diner fare and some special cincy only ones and all of it tastes like something your grandma would make. If youre looking for homestyle food and youre near hyde park hit this place up.

This place is everything a home cooking restaurant should be. The food is excellent, the staff is incredible and the owners are simply the best! Frankly, I dont remember home cooking being as good as this. It is a one of a kind Cincinnati institution!

Their brunch is spectacular. I have been going here every Sunday after church for years. You have to wait in line they dont take your name. A lot of people still havent figured this out yet. The wait is worth it. They even have Goetta.

The food is delicious, especially after a good ole run, or as a hangover helper. If I could I would rate it 10/10. I would recommend the businessmans breakfast, and be sure to get a hot chocolate with it.... Natti Knights for life

Honestly one of my favorite diners to go to in Cincinnati. Staff is really friendly and the service is very fast. My only issue would be avoid going on Sundays, theyre really booked and its hard to get a table for large families.

Wow am I glad we went here for breakfast the morning after The Flying Pig marathon. Food was excellent although it took a bit to get our meal but it was due to one of our orders. Will be back next time we visit Cincinnati.

Every Wednesday I go to acupuncture in Hyde Park and I go to the Echo Restaurant. My favorite lunch is Turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce, fresh cottage cheese with a dinner roll. I give it A 5 star thumbs up!

It was okay. The pancakes were burnt and the homefries had no flavor. The goetta was gliers but it was crumbley. The eggs were cooked well. As far as breakfast in cincy goes it was just okay and priced too high.

Quintessential local brunch spot. Cant go wrong with hearty, homecooked style breakfast. I could sit and list off the number of things I love, but in my experience its all great. Order what sounds good to you.

This is a Hyde Park tradition. The breakfast is the best. The cafe style is classic. The service is appropriately metropolitan. You will wait for breakfast and it is a little pricey, but 100% worth it.

Best breakfast in Cinci, hands down. Non-locals might not find as much charm in the atmosphere as the rest of us, but the always-friendly staff and amazing food will win them over after their first visit.

Visually nothing really stands out about this place but the food alone is worth 5 stars. Very reasonably priced as well. If youre going for brunch on Sunday be prepared to wait in line

Extensive menu of classics and special creations. Staff is very friendly. Seating is available at the counter in a classic diner style. You might have to wait during the busy times.

Great brunch food and atmosphere, and the servers all seemed to be in great moods. Got to sit at the bar and revel in the nostalgia of an older era I wasnt born into. Awesome place.

Great spot for brunch in Cincinnati. Old school diner vibe with a solid menu and friendly staff. Side note: They use the small crushed ice that youve loved since you were a child.

The Echo is a Hyde Park staple. Maybe a little expensive for breakfast and you usually have to wait, but the food is good and the portions are generous. Highly recommended overall.

Best short order breakfast in the area bar none. Weirdly great coffee. This is one if those classic places that understands what you need on a sat morning after a late night.

Fantastic little diner. Great local vibe. Excellent food. Great location. Must check it out. The only downside is the awkward area you have to wait in line to get seated.

Prices are good and Ive never had a dish Ive been disappointed in. There have been a couple times when the food was just okay, though. Regardless, its worth stopping in!

Really not worth the hassle. Waiting to get in is an illmanaged dance of sardines. Food took forever and was really nothing that couldnt be obtained at any other diner.
