First Visit: Initialy, we were questioning why it was empty at 8pm on a Wednesday, we found out soon enough. We ordered the Galuti Kabob (lamb) and lets just say it was basically microwaved lamb sausage. It was not "homemade" or "made from scratch" as their advertisements say. This was not worth the $8.95. The Dosai was also cold when it was brought out to us and it barely had any stuff inside ($8.95 for barely anything). We order the Chicken tikka and the Chicken Vindaloo (they ran out of lamb, which is odd since we were able to get the kabobs). These are the two most common indian dishes around, yet they tasted as if someone very inexperienced had cooked it. The rice which came with our food was very cold. My take on the horrible experience: They ran out of the lamb because everyone ate the portions they made in the morning during the lunch buffet. The remainder of the days lunch buffet unfortunately became our dinner. With their dismal dinner crowd, I can see why they are cutting corners and reheating their food. Second Visit: Only reason we went was because we had a Restaurant . com Gift Card. BE warned, even if you purchase a $25 gift card for $4, dont use it at this place. Id rather let my $4 go to waste. I learned the hard way. This time, there was one other couple there, other than us. The somosas were actually decent and I was starting to think it was a fluke that we had such a bad expeience last time. I was wrong. Again the Dosai was cold and unfilling. Another traditional dish, Alu Ghobi, was barely cooked as the cauliflower was still raw. I cant get how they can mess up classical indian dishes. WORST PART: WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! They modified the total amount on the credit card receipt after I left the restaurant. The store next door is MORE EXPENSIVE than other indian stores. DO NO EAT OR SHOP HERE. ME: Indian, 29, Uncle owns indian restaurant in DC. I wonder who those are who left 5 star reviews.

I went to a lunch buffet here two years ago and was not impressed, but decided to try again in the hopes that things had changed for the better since then. We arrived for lunch on a Friday at 11:20 (they advertise that they open at 11) and found the place dark and although the buffet table was set up, there was no food in it. We told them they obviously werent ready yet so wed run an errand and come back, but 10 minutes later everything looked the same as it did when we originally walked in. They brought us serving platters with a individual bowls of rice, a pureed lentil dish, and a spicy potato/pea dish and said this is how they serve their buffet now, so that the food is fresh instead of sitting out on the buffet table for two hours. A few minutes after these two dishes were brought, we were given small bowls of chicken tikka masala, which was extremely delicious except for that it was 90% sauce and only 10% chicken. They also gave us the previously-mentioned greasy bread, which tastes really good but cant be good for you. Since it had taken so long to get the food our lunch hour was up quickly and it was time to go. We had gotten no other food other than that listed above, no dessert, no seconds on anything (although, to be fair, we were told repeatedly that if there was anything we particularly liked he would be happy to bring more of it for us), and we had water to drink. When we left we were charged $10.85 each! We had eaten maybe $2 worth of food, if that. Crazy expensive and the little food we had was not worth that price. This was the buffet experience but I also wanted the dinner experience, where you could order from the menu, before writing the place off completely. So my husband and I went back on Saturday night at around 8pm (they advertise that they are open until 10pm) and found the place dark and locked up tight. I wont bother going back again.

What a blunder I committed! And what a fool I am I must say. I read horrible reviews about this restaurant but still wanted to give it a shot. They somehow convinced me that they host so many parties and food is the best in town. They talked so nicely and sugar coated until they signed me up and then I saw their true color. It’s a husband-wife management but one doesn’t know what other is promising to the customer. It was all discussed and agreed upon and the party hall was booked. Suddenly a day before the party, husband called me and told me that their music system is not working and I will have arrange my own. I argued and reminded that it was agreed upon and now it’s a bit late, he started rubbishing and asked me to take deposit back. Imagine, just a day before, by now I have send all invitations and reminders to my guests and I am now being told to do the party somewhere else, somehow I handled. Now there is really hard part. Party night, the food tests awfully bad, the promise of great test is broken. I felt terrible in-front of my guests. My party is trashed. And the worst is not over yet, my guest count and their headcount of my guests are terribly different, even if I add all babies and toddlers, their headcount was 15 guests more. I tried explaining and produced them the guest list but they didn’t agree to me, it seemed like they knew how many guests where attended more than I did. I requested them to play CCTv recordings and prove but they cleverly told me that the camera is not working. It was a clear lie but I couldn’t help it. I had to pay what they wanted. Bottom line, if you want to screw-up your party horribly, that’s the perfect place to host the party. Just check their clientele in busy hours; you will know how many people like their food.

My wife and I went there to eat just as they were about to close so it was empty in there. I felt kind of bad for coming in so late as they were ready to leave for the night, but the waiter was very polite, helpful in describing everything, and making shure the food would be just as hot as we would want it. They had a lot to choose from on the menu as well. I ordered the lamb korma (which I loved, but not quite as spicy as I was expecting) and my wife had the chicken tikka (which I did not like as much as others I have had. It was a bit on the bland side and looked a bit like marinara sauce, but she did not order it as spicy as I would have gotten so Im biased). The entrees apparently do not come with rice. The waiter suggested coconut rice which was delicious, but added another unexpected 7 dollars to the bill. I think for a 12-14 dollar entree, some type of rice should be included without charge. I think this is the restaurants biggest fault. The bread they brought out had a good flavor, but was a bit greasy. The beer selection was average but also a bit on the pricey side even for domestics. The decor of the restaurant was decent and consistent, but nothing very fancy. Even with our Citypass coupon and only a couple extras (beer and bread), we still spent as much as we would have on a nice meal elsewhere. Bottom line: We had an overall decent meal with good service, but the prices would keep me from going back. There are better places out there at this price point.
