Our family has been coming to Lugano now for 13 years (initially Biaggis) but after tonight we will not return. Although the quality of the food has diminished somewhat over the years we have continued to be loyal customers as we always felt the service was good and we were treated very kindly, but this was not the case tonight. Our children, now 10 and 14, often want to go there to celebrate a special occaision, and in the past few months weve celebrated New Years Eve, a birthday and my sons church confirmation at Lugano. Weve been told numerous times over the years how impeccable their manners are. Tonight , after a long and personally trying day, my son wanted to order spaghetti w meatballs from Lugano for take-out. Not only did we wait 40 minutes for this with calling ahead, but we stood in the bar for over 30 minutes because there were no seats in the lobby. My son was feeling overheated and I asked for some water and then noticed there were 5 seats open at the bar as 2 people were leaving. Just then one of the staff said it would just be a few more minutes for our order, so I decided we could have a seat since there were 5 open seats and it would just be a few minutes. We sat for less than 1 minute when 3 women came up behind us to order drinks, at which time the bartender looked at my son and I and told us we could not sit there because he is a child and he asked us to get up. First, it is not a law in NC that a child cant sit at a bar, granted I wouldnt normally choose to sit and eat a a bar with my child, but we were simply going to sit briefly while we waited for our food after already standing for 30 minutes. Second, one order of spaghetti and meatballs cost $21 + $3 tip. Third, he wasnt the least bit kind or pleasant about it and made us feel incredibly embarrassed like we were doing something horribly wrong when my child was sitting quietly and politely. My assumption is the bartender looked at the ladies, looked at us and decided he was going to make alot more money off of them ordering drinks than he was from us. Anyway, in the end there are many restaurants in Cary to choose from, new ones popping up all the time, and although we had felt some loyalty to this restaurant over the years as our children have grown up and weve dined here dozens of times, sadly, when someone treats you rudely and embarrasses you for simply having a seat, then I have no desire to return.

I have amended the following review due the rapid and heart-felt response from Chef/Owner Tom Havrish, who has invited us back (at his expense), after having a negative experience. Thank you Chef! My Wife and I have visited Luganos (Biaggis) several times in the past year. We have always been very happy with the service and food quality. Tonight was a huge exception and will probably change where we dine. Our waiter; the same guy that served us last time, had a trainee with him this evening. We started with drinks, Calimari and bread which was all good except for the Calimari getting cold due to the air vent overhead. My Wife had her usual Sea Scallops which have always been good. I always like to try something different and ordered the Filet Mignon with scallops. The filet and scallops served with Fregola Pasta and Prosciutto (which was so salty that they could have just brought a block of salt). The Filet was topped with a Cabernet demi-glaze.... tasted like very..very..very sweet simple syrup with a hint of red wine. The Filet should have been a piece of Melt-in-your-mouth beef. Instead, it was a chewy, grizzly piece of what could have been cheap sirloin? The worst part of the evening was the fact that our Waiter, who was training (sic) a new young lady, never came by to check on us after our food was delivered! And when he did finally come by, I made mention of this, and hinted quite directly about the quality of my meal, but nothing was ever acknowledged. He just ignored the comments, and then disappeared on break? (someone else took our check). I could have asked for the manager, but my Wife is very uncomfortable with any type if discord, so I did not. One thing I can assure you; I will not spend my hard-earned money on bad food more than once!

I loved Lugano. For quite some time Ive been referring people there, had my moms 60th birthday party there in January, and my networking group has been meeting there now for about 6 mos or more. Many of them have gone other times with their families as a result of that introduction. Ive even had Lunch n Learns there for my insurance business. They have been wonderful until recently when I was treated as if my loyalty meant nothing. There have been a few times that my networking group was moved around because Lugano needed to book another party. We have always adjusted easily. These last few times, weve not been put on the schedule, although I know I reserved it. I call early enough to confirm either way, which I did this time as well(yesterday). I was told by Justin @ 2:25p that it would be OK and we would be set up, and everything worked out. Theyd find a way to accommodate us, and wed be good to go. At 5:26pm, as Im headed to Lugano, I get a call that this will not be worked out, and we would have to adjust to 8pm BC I didnt make a reservation. I have been consistently coming monthly for my 6:30pm meetings, and you call me at 5:30pm to talk me that #1, & #2... I have been consistently coming for months, and you are convinced that I didnt make a reservation, instead of the fact that you could have missed it? Tim in the past has been wonderful. This was a miss. Justin was very curt, didnt apologize for the bad information he gave, and offered no understanding. This was totally mishandled in my opinion. I am truly disappointed that loyalty and your word mean little in the end.

Just terrible. I took my girl here for her birthday on the April 9th this year. She likes pasta so I figured an Italian restaurant would be great. To be more adventurous we decided to search on google for a place outside of Olive Garden and the other usual restaurants. We get there and the place looked just as amazing as it was pictured in the website. So nice atmosphere. We ordered salad and they gave us bread which was really good. We ordered the pasta that came with only 4 shrimps chicken and sausage in a white wine tomato sauce. That was $18 each. No problem. I dont mind paying for good food. Unfortunately, the dish was sub par. I could have gotten better pasta from chilis or applebees for less with a song from the waiters and free ice cream for her birthday. I got nothing but a disconnected waitress and terrible pasta with the shrimp tail still attached. I had to pick through my own food to remove the tails before eating it. The manager came over to see if we were enojoying our food. I let her know what was the issue and she attempted to satisfy us by talking to the cooks and giving me a free dessert of whatever I wanted. Since it was my girls birthday she asked for cheesecake. We was told it was delicious and later that night when we ate it we found it also to be sub par. Dont waste your money coming to this restaurant because at Luganos you definitely dont get what you pay for. Bill was $67. I could have spend the same amount or less elsewhere and been thoroughly satisfied.
