Food was pretty good (by far, not close to the best Italian), could have used less oil though. However, the service was horrible. The restaurant was not busy at all. Our server came to us right away and immediately we both pulled back because she reeked of cigarette smoke. It was really bad. She gave us menus, took our drink order and disappeared before I could ask a question about the menu. When she returned, she did not know if the restaurant had Blue Cheese to crumble on the salad or not and she did not know the answers to a few other questions about the menu. She did bring salad right away, and the main course arrived as we were finishing the salad. The server brought us a half glass of Diet Coke to split between us (for the refill) and disappeared. She was gone so long that after we finished our meal, we waited another 15 minutes before I asked another server if she could find ours. That person just looked at me - no answer - and kept walking. At this time, there were only two other tables occupied in the restaurant. After almost 10 more minutes, we walked up to the front desk to pay for our meal - we had to tell the cashier what we ate because we never saw the server again. We told the person at the desk and she had no explaination as to why this happened (server was probably out back smoking another pack of cigs). Food -= 5.5 • Price/Value = 5 • Atmosphere = 6.5 • Service = 2 (and that is being generous)

My coworkers and I went to this place and we were very disappointed. One of my coworkers ordered lobster ravioli and it was $11.95, when we got back to our job there were only 5pieces of ravioli on the plate and three shrimp. When she called to complain the manager was kinda rude. She told her thats all you get on that dish. When she said she was disappointed the manager acted like she didnt want to give her her money back. I got the chicken florentine farfalle and I too was not impressed. There was no seasoning on the dish and the taste was not all that good. The disches also come with a slice of bread and it was very hard and oily. My other coworker ordered the sampler and he said the calamari was very hard and they only gave him a half of a cup of sauce to go with it. The prices are not worth it. They have small portions and dont give a damn about their customers. Needless to say we will NOT be going back to Pomodoros on Hillandale Rd in Durham NC ever again. If you are thinking about going there, please think again. Go to olive garden instead. At least their portions are worth the cost.

I decided to look past the negative reviews and hope for the best- but here I am adding to the negative. The food was as expensive as The Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill- we paid $30 + tip for two entrees and one soda... I should have known by the fact the restaraunt was 70% empty on a Saturday evening to turn away. I ordered the chicken alfredo which was $13- the sauce tasted like it was straight from the jar- only after putting a ton of parmesan on it, did I manage to eat about 8 bites before deciding it wasnt worth it. My husband, who is a self declared "human garbage disposal" barely touched his chicken parmigana- he said that the frozen budget meals had more flavor. I suggest staying away, but if you want that experience buy a couple cheap frozen meals and throw a plastic table cloth over your table and burn the extra $20...

Wait staff made us do exactly that... wait. Waited for drinks, waited even longer for straws for said drinks, and waited for our appetizer that we got 39 seconds before our "food." I use air quotes because what was on the plate wasnt exactly food so much as something out of a frozen dinner meal. The "blackened chicken" that one of us ordered had enough rosemary on it to actually make me choke, the "homemade" tomato sauce was worse than any store brand canned tomato sauce Ive ever tasted, and the lobster ravioli shouldve been a chowder it was so incredibly thick. To be fair the "Tour" dish we ordered with the chicken parmesan was good although it did not have the items on it that were on the menu. The quickest service we got was when the waitress brought the check. All in all, I wouldnt recommend it to anyone that I like.

I was staying at the Courtyard Marriott for the second time and decided to go with my mom to Pomodoro, one because we could walk there, and two because there is a menu in every hotel room. First we ordered the Caprese. The tomato slices were gross, washed-out tasteless probably frozen and shipped from who knows where, right in the middle of tomato season. The mozzarella, possibly the most bland and very doubtfully home-made. The house salad was a mess of cheap lettuce and too-thick Ranch dressing. Mom ordered the Lobster Ravioli. There was way too much saffron sauce, simply drowning the ravioli and disguising any lobster and the three poor shrimp on the plate. I had one of the specials, which was supposed to be a risotto, but fell very short. Boo. The service was poor.

The service was awful and the waitress made a mistake on one of our orders. She took it back to fix it. Well while it was "being fixed" the rest of us finished our meals. And the dish was only a ceasar salad with salmon. Once it came back, it was only salmon on top of lettuce......that was it! No croutons, no dressing.... When we asked our waitress where the rest of the salad was she started to tell us what they were out of. She failed to mention any of that before ordering. She got very defensive and did not take the blame for anything. She made us feel like it was our fault that we experienced all these things. I will NEVER go back there again! And I mean that. The decor of this place is old and it was cold inside too.

Went in for lunch to meet a friend over my hour break. We both ordered caesar salads with chicken and with steak. This is the first time I have eaten at a table at Pomodoro. I usually order togo for lunch. The server came by once in the time we waited for our food, and then notified us after more than 20 minutes, he forgot to order the salads. After 30 minutes, we received our salads, with no dressing and the server again would not come back to the table. Terrible service, no compensation, and an hour lunch break wasted. I took my salad togo to eat in my office. Make sure you have time to spend when you try this place. Food = 5.5 • Service = 2.5 • Atmosphere = 7 • Price/Value = 5

The location and decor do not reflect the quality of the Italian cuisine that came out of the kitchen. The restaurant interior reminded me of a Dennys or Applebys, so my expectations were a little low for the food. Our server was very friendly and, although it wasnt busy I know she had a number of other tables, didnt leave us waiting for anything. When our lasagne and penne with vodka sauce came out the food tasted great, and the portions were ample. Unfortunately I didnt have any room for dessert because I had eaten the whole serving. Overall, I would definitely recommend Pomodoro for the food, but would go elsewhere if atmosphere and style were a concern.
