Wow. If you want a textbook example of how to ruin a great reputation in one night, look no further than Hana. The food here looks and smells good. Wish I could say it tastes good too but I wouldnt know because Im still waiting for it. So is everyone else around me. It took 13 minutes to get any service after being seated. 45 minutes later and still waiting on waters. Im not making this up. Id have left long ago but my dad insisted that we stay. Now we are trapped because we ordered food. As I said the food here is probably good but they put the Z Team out on new years day and they cant find their rear ends with 2 hands and a map, let alone run this place. Yes, its new years, but cmon man this isnt that busy compared to the rest of the places down the street. They seem to have enough people working here. They just dont know what to do or how to do it. Whoever owns this place is losing mountains of cash because whoever is running it (nobody?) has no clue. Good luck in 2015. Epilogue: food finally started showing up an hour and fifteen minutes after ordering. My family thought it was decent. My order was incorrect and they didnt fill the to-go order I had placed for my wife who was in a hotel taking care of the baby. I went to the sushi place next door and ordered the same food to go. 20mins later had my food in hand. Moral of the story: dont go here. Rewarding incompetence of this magnitude should be a crime.

This place is terrible! You are so much better off to go to Wasbi from food to service to prices!!! A friend and I decided to try this place out, only to be very disappointed. Our meal was okay, overpriced but okay but then my waitress messed up my Togo order (I ordered a scallop hand roll, which is on the menu) in which she replied that they didnt have that. Then proceeded to check and make sure they could do it, only to come back to the table and tell me it was gonna take like 20 minutes for the hand roll. Knowing it wasnt going to take that long and she was feeding me excuses I said that I would wait. She came back 5 minutes later with the correct roll. Said that I could keep the incorrect one I received and to have a good night. After I picked up my purse and stood up from the table she came over and told me that actually she needed to get the incorrect roll back from me and blamed it on the "language barrier" ! Me standing there in awe she proceeded to take my to go box and take the sushi back out of it and hand back to the chefs!?!? Not only is that health violation its also plain rude! So I hope some of you who have eaten here didnt get someones 30 minute leftover mess up!! I will never go here again nor my friend.

Went there last week and as normally we walk into a place and wait to be seated. Stood there for maybe 5 minutes not even a greeting all the waitress just walked by and looked at us. Until the sushi chef to what it looked like, told us to sit ourselves down instead. We sat at a table, waited a few more for someone to bring us our menus, and take our drink order. Our waiter instead of giving us our forks in a wrapped napkin like they do, instead just brought them holding one on each hand like that. We had to get our own napkins, took more than half an hour to serve our food when people who came in after us had been served with their sushi which we had ordered as well and ended up canceling due to them forgetting about it. Didnt even ask if we wanted refills or checked on us. Chicken was a little dry and some of the rice was not even cooked well. I would say customer service surely needs more improvement!

I have a weakness for Uni. If its in stock, and its fresh, itll end up on my bill. Here - they added a twist. In addition to fresh Uni Sushi, I could order Uni Tempura. At first, I resisted - but then I succumbed. I had to find out if it was worth it. Its fine and all. the flavors are pleasant enough. But, heres the deal. If youre a fan of Uni - then youre a fan of the flavor explosion that Uni delivers. The tempura option here virtually masks that explosion. In fact, I couldnt identify uni at all. So... - I tried it - but I should have stayed tuned to my instincts. We started off with the Yellowtail Jalapeno appetizer. it was very nice. Daughter had the Madonna Roll which she loved. Son, not the big fan of sushi/sashimi, had the shrimp hibachi. I went with the Sea Clam, Octopus, Toro, Maguro, and Uni. All very good. (Oh, Uni, with quail egg (naturally)). :)

***STAY AWAY!!!*** Health Hazard! Ive eaten sushi for a really long time. I love sushi. I have never worried about my health when eating sushi until last night. The fish was bad. Like really really bad! It had a ratchet smell and turned my stomach to the point that I knew not to eat it.Plus the Hibachi was terrible, the seaweed salad was gross. I think about my experiencue and Im just so disappointed. I hope youre not unfortunate enough to have a similar experience. I called the management to warn them about the fish. The manager arrogantly exclaimed that his fish is fine. Well it wasnt. Whatever you do dont eat here.

Terrible. Literally the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. The place is dirty. Every unoccupied table is uncleared with dishes piling up. The kitchen looks dirty. The service ranges from slow to nonexistent. The place was practically empty and we waited an hour for our food. When our food arrived, we just looked at it for 10 minutes while we waited for the waitress to retrieve utensils for us. The portions were small. My noodles tasted burned. I dont even know how you burn noodles. Our bill was wrong. I would rather eat my own fingers off than return to this place.

Omg i absolutely love hana!! The servers are amazing. Amanda was taking care of us and she was great. Perfect atmosphere. Very chill place to sit and eat. The food was out of this world. Amazing sushi. I definately give this place 5 stars. Its by far my favorite reataurant to eat at in asheville. If you come to asheville, one place to try would definately be hana. Wonderful experience. So fancy and yummy too. And its affordable...love you guys at hana!!! I definately will be a regular guest here from now on. Keep up the good vibes!!! ;)

Pros: Menu had many choices for people not so familiar with Japanese cuisine, sushi and sashimi choices not bad. Location good for people watching. Great spicy tuna handroll made perfect and also loaded with crab. Cons: Some rolls a bit overpriced. No sake bombs or specials offered. Latino waitress insisted I had pronounced lychee incorrectly. Sake arrived in a wine glass. The tobiko sushi I ordered never arrived. Worth a second trip if only for the sushi chefs who did enough right to make up for other weirdness.

Hanas had been one of our downtown date night go to places. This last visit it seemed as if the quality of the food changed, the hibachi chicken was dry & steak was chewy. The newer wait staff were not dressed appropriate for this type of restautant. Sleeveless top and very short shorts, did not appreciate the the angle in which the server bent over the table directly in front of our table cleaning & cleaning the table. Defiantly wasnt expecting that kind of "show" while eating dinner.
