You can eat at the sushi bar, at the group tables where the chef frys everything and puts on the usual show flipping food into tiny bowls and plates, or you can be seated at a regular table and order from the several menus. We ordered from the sushi menu at a regular table. Wonderful food, and the price was very good (even compared to Houston, TX restaurants). The menu choices were enormous. Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants we have ever been to. We ate far too much, but it was all very delicious, and all the items were obviously very fresh.

My husband and I went to visit the Biltmore Estate and really wanted some good Japanese food for dinner... we ended up here. This place was amazingly yummy and the service was excellent! The chef (a younger white boy) who cooked for us was really funny and kept the whole table very entertained. I would highly recommend this place to anyone craving Japanese food and sushi. Thank you for one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had... we will definitely be back whenever we return to the Asheville area!!

Great Sushi and service. My wife and I frequent their sushi bar for the quality and freshness of the sushi (and service). There is not much of a wow factor with presentation or atmosphere, but the quality of the ingredients makes it a no-brainer. I always get the bonsai roll and some tuna (toro or peppered). You gotta try the Yumi-Yumi roll! It is very consistent and be prepared to wait because it is good. Nothing special about their hibachi, its just good, solid hibachi style Japanese.

Not impressed. Food was decent. Our chef was friendly. Service was shotty. Apparently if you come frequently, the service is leaps and bounds better, because three of our grill-side table mates (out of 9) had good conversation with an otherwise silent server, full drinks the entire time while everyone else was empty, and they even got asked if they wanted to-go drinks, when everyone else just got a check. Maybe I should just come back a few more times...

Hands down the best sushi in Asheville! Everything on their menu is delicious, you cant go wrong no matter what you order. The restaurant itself is always clean and well appointed, the owners and staff are wonderfully friendly, its great for a date night and for a family dinner. My favorite things on the menu are the nabe yaki udon, tempura sweet potato rolls, squid salad, and all the chefs sushi specials are to die for. A definite must visit.

My bf and I looked up the hours of operation before heading down to the resturant. It was on Saturday 5/1/10 and Ichibans hours were posted as being open until 10;30, but when we got there at 10;03 after driving 20 minutes to have dinner there, they said they closed up early due to slow business and turned us away. We ended up going to Bonefish Grill on Tunnel Rd which is open until 11;30 and had a great dinner.

Eating at the grill here is good but I just come here for the Sushi. They have the most amazing sushi chef and the prices are reasonable with quality ingredients. The rolls and portions are very generous too. The staff, chefs, waiters, etc are all very nice and we eat here so much they practically know us by name. I am a sushi snob and wont eat sushi anywhere else. It is the best Ive had.

Food wonderful. Service volatile. Suggest avoiding peak periods during weekend. Owner is not kind to his employees in front of guests. Very much a churn and burn place. Again good is fantastic. Tonight I had a to go container slapped on the table while we were all still eating. Not fun spending $100 only to be rushed out in less than 40 minutes and before meals were finished.

Good food and good service. When we visited there were several graduation parties and the place was almost full but still they got us seated quicklu at the hibachi. Only slight criticism was that it seemed a little too rushed our hibachi chef had food ready before we had even had the salad course though probably this was owing to how busy everything was.

This is a favorite restaurant of mine. They have a variety of menu options--chicken, steak, seafood, sushi. I dont eat sushi, but I hear their sushi is excellent. If youre on a budget I recommend going for lunch when the prices are lower. The portions are slightly smaller, but it is still very filling.

Holy smokes gentlemen. My Hibachi chef did a triple backflip while simultaneously creating an onion volcano whos eruption rivaled that of the great Pompeii. The fried rice cured my ongoing battle with the flu, and made my dead dog come back to life. Thank you Ichiban, for saving Maxs life.

Mother Daughter outing. Great entertainment while the chef prepares your food. So tasty and so much food. Had to bring left overs home and enjoy another day! Very good food. Looking forward to our next trip to Asheville and Ichiban. Check out the organic market next door, too.

Enjoyed the hibachi grill experience but the food was prepared in backwards order (sweet carrots, rice, vegetables, protein).... That didnt make sense. The food itself was decent, but can get the same or better for cheaper at other Japanese establishments.

Ate there 3 times while on vacation. The seabass and Snapper tasted awesome and the traditional Hibachi chicken and beef were great. Atmosphere and service are very pleasant. If youre in town visiting and like Japanese food, this is the place to go.

A great place to eat. Food is prepared very well. I go here often. You have a choice of sitting with others with a cook in front of you or private table without a cook or sitting at the sushi bar. Prices are very fair.

Really good Japanese place but if youre looking for a noodle house this is not the place but for your run-of-the-mill Japanese Sushi and Hibachi Grill and sit down dinner as well for a date night its pretty good

Just okay. Very slow service. I had the hibachi chicken it was just fair. There were not even onions which is so wierd. I have never been to a Japanese place that didnt have onions. The taste was not that good

The service is great, the food is amazing, to bad the owner treats his employees like the communist governmentof China, like they are slaves, and very disrespectful. Love the employees, owner is a total jerk!
