The fusion Asian cuisine here is amazingly varied, unfailingly delicious, and very reasonably priced for what you get. The decor is very tasteful, and the service is perfect. Unfortunately, I cringe at seeing them decide to locate in North Gahanna, in the StoneRidge Plaza area. Its a nice enough area -- close to New Albany and Easton, but I have been saddened to see so many wonderful and highly-rated ethnic restaurants of all flavors locate around here and then go out of business (or, perhaps if they are lucky, hang on by a thread). One after another after another, for more than ten years. (BTW, Columbus isnt my permanent residence, but I am here for several months of each year.) For some reason, the North Gahanna area takes far more to All-American choices like Bob Evans, Applebees-type chains and Cap City Diner than to Asian fusion -- or any other ethnic. Im guessing the lure to new restaurant operators is low rents in this area relative to other suburban areas, but that cant make up for lack of customer traffic. I hope Im wrong, but I implore the owners to re-try in, say, the Short North or perhaps in Northwest Columbus/Dublin should things not work out in Gahanna.

Cost was perhaps a bit more than anticipated, but the fare was well worth it and then some. Had samples of both their sushi and hibachi, and even the leading miso soup was delicious. Theres no typical display with dinner; all cooking is done in the back. However, the hibachi is brought out on a cast iron hot plate and is every bit as fresh and delicious as if it were cooked at your table. The environment is a relaxed, modern feeling one. Music was ambient during my visit, and very unobtrusive. (A common flaw with other Japanese restaurants Ive been to is that their music was almost always far too loud. Speed freestyle jazz turned up to eleven does not complement sushi dining as much as some seem to think.) I cant really think of anything ill to say of Tora.

We used to eat at tora every week...they are NOT kid friendly. Today we went for lunch with 2 adults and 3 smaller kids. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Service was awful and very rude waiter. When my friend ordered they only had a dinner option...so he opened the menu and showed her every page to show her the options. They stared at us the entire time we were there and it was very uncomfortable. We quit going often a year ago when they refused to move 2 tables together to make room for a table of 7 and made us wait an hour an a half for one of the back tables to open up. Again...we had kids with us. Well behaved kids. We wont be going back.

We just moved to New Albany and I have been trying to find a quality sushi restaurant. My husband suggested Tora as he saw the sign for half priced sushi rolls on Tuesdays. As he was filling our car with gas at giant eagle, he realized it was Tuesday and promptly offered to take me to dinner. The surprise was lovely but even better than not cooking at home, was the delightful find. This is my favorite local sushi bar. Ive ordered a variety of special rolls, and it have yet to be disappointed. We tried the grilled red snapper last night and it was absolutely amazing. We now have a standing date on Tuesday nights through the summer.

From top to bottom a lack luster experience and complete waste of money. Dont let the decor fool you. The owner was a grump and his entire staff seemed to be frightened of him. We sat at the sushi bar , however could not place our order with the sushi chefs and waited 45 minutes before any of our sushi was made. The fish was mediocre at best. No need to ever go back. Our waiter was a nice guy; too bad he wasnt running the show.

So people said they were gluten-free friendly here, unfortunately there were almost no available options for people who are actually sensitive to gluten. Too much non-traditional Japanese food. The rolls were a bit bland and my hibachi was over cooked. They tried to be helpful, but our waiter was a bit clueless about the menu which made things difficult. No refills on my tea and the prices were an it high for the quality.

This is my Friday night delight with my fiancé. We are so impressed with the service provided and more than anything, the best quality of sushi. The prices are worth the grade of sushi that Tora provides. We have referred many of friends to Tora and they continue to go back and we have not heard one bad thing. We love coming in and trying Toras new weekly specials. This is by far the BEST sushi restaurant in Columbus!

Tora is one of the best Sushi places in Columbus. It is easy to miss as it is tucked back from the road and looks like a smaller storefront. The outside is very misleading. The dining area is very cleanly and service is always great. I have tried 10-12 different types of sushi from Tora and have yet to be let down. I am a HUGE fan of the deep fried calamari.

This place will cater to a variety of diets. I was with a party of six. There was me a vegan, my vegetarian sister, and my second cousin who is gluten-free and they were able to cater to all three of us. The best part is that everyone i was with enjoyed their meal. Which was good because 3 of the group never ate at a Japanese restaurant before.

Great place for sushi or other Japanese favorites. Tuesdays are half off on certain sushi rolls, usually the most popular ones. Staff is always friendly and right at your table when you need them. They dont hover and stop by when theyre not needed. Good prices, excellent staff, delicious food! I wont get sushi from anywhere else in Gahanna.

Delicated Sushi & New Creation like a Japanese Fusion. They have lots of real fresh fishes for sushi & sashimi. Not like other sushi restaurants with frozen ones. I had a Onagadai, means Hawaian Ruby Snapper. The color was amazing! never seen...I will try something new one with fresh fishes next week again !

Ok, I come here way more than I probably should. For some reason, I just like the atmosphere here, I can come on a week night and expect it to be how I like it. Unless its half-off sushi night, which I avoid because it gets too busy for my tastes, so if thats what you want, come before 6pm to avoid waiting.

Super high quality for how it looks from the outside. Looks like any other strip mall type eatery but the inside is way classier than youd expect. Plus the food is great and there is a half off deal until 9 on Tuesdays. Makes 3 rolls of sushi only around 12 bucks which is a fantastic deal.

This is the best Japanese restaurant I have tried in Columbus to include Aki Hana. A bit expensive but well worth it. The hot pots were a little light on the meat ( heavy in veggies). Very nice atmosphere, do not let strip mall location fool you.
