Smoke and mirrors is what I call this place. They use flashy lights, plastic palm trees, boats, and ice and martini glasses to hide their poor quality sushi. It smells of fish as soon as you walk in. The first time we ate here I ordered a simple and not raw roll because I didnt trust it. It was OK but we didnt go back. A lot of the menu items are fried or covered in sauce. We normally go to Tampa for real sushi/sashimi. We only had a sitter for a few hours and after so many friends had been raving about it we decided to give it another try. I was craving sushi all week, so we ordered a large Sushi and Sashimi for two entree. I was so disappointed when it came. The sashimi looked like it had been butchered. Not precise cuts like Im used to. The Salmon was frozen and crystallized in the center. The yellowtail was chewy on the ends. The tuna was cut so thick and heavy that instead of melting in your mouth it felt heavy and I gagged. We stopped eating it. We complained about the quality and freshness and we were told that we should have ordered something else. We told the waitress about the frozen Salmon and chewy yellowtail and she said it was fresh and just walked away. We ate the Spicy Tuna rolls and a separately ordered a tempura type roll which were OK but nothing special. We asked her to take the Sushi boat away and she didnt. We asked for the bill, mind you with our huge boat of uneaten Sushi/Sashimi still sitting there and they charged us for everything. They didnt offer us anything, even to comp our $3 spring roll appetizer (which tasted odd to me). I asked for the manager, name tag said "Jay" though he acted like he spoke little English. I told him we normally love sushi/sashimi but had the following complaints and our server ignored us. He told us that the Salmon was fresh, everyone loves it, and we just dont like Sushi and he wouldnt do anything for us. Our bill was large but we paid it and did not leave a tip. We left hungry and frustrated - and will not be going back. If you must come here, order something very simple and not raw.

I had dinner at this restaurant on 08-30-13. This was the worst meal I have ever had in my entire life. As I sit at my table with a group of people I look over at the corner of the room. What do I see? They are using it as a storage space for a bunch of boxes. The waiter was very slow. As the food comes out to us one would think that everyone at the table would get there food at the same time. Not at this restaurant. I sat at my table seeing the food slowly come out and after I see people at my table more than half way done with their food mine finally comes out. I now wish it never came as it was the most discussing food I ever tasted in my entire life. I wish I could get the thought of this food & night out of my mind. Please do yourself a big favor & never ever go to this place.

This is our special occasion destination as well as lunch at least once a week. Not only is the ambiance the BEST, but the food is consistently fabulous! We have many guests visiting us from all over the country. We dont even ask them anymore if they like sushi. Even for those who have never experienced the menu, they love it forever! Because weve been coming to this location for three years, we infrequently visit other sushi restaurants. We always come back to Wasabi! The lunch specials are incredibly priced. The dinner menu is unbelievably reasonably affordable. The menu items are unique and fun. The presentation is so beautiful that we keep taking pictures of how the platters look like a piece of art. Ok, I think you know by now we love, love, love this place!

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I found it very tasty. The chicken had the right balance of flavors. Its very easy to make Teriyaki too sweet, but I didnt find that here. The salad was fresh and crisp with a nice dressing, soup was good also although not served the hottest in the world. The only thing that I wasnt mad on was the California Roll although Im not a huge fan of any sushi anyway so take that with a pinch of salt. I will definitely be back again to try some of your other suggestions and see if they maybe have a roll that can covert me to the dark side of sushi.

Heard about the dirty dining reports, but this is still our favorite sushi place. Weve been coming here for 3 years and have never found a dirty dish or seen a rat. Weve sat at the sushi bar and examined it carefully, but still - Didnt find it dirty. Every time Ive asked for a fork, theyve been spotless without any food particles remaining. Regardless of the brutal reports that, to me, seem exaggerated, we will continue to dine here. Compared to other sushi places - This is by far the best and cleanest. See so for yourself.

The Food was excellent, The presentation was awesome and the price was very reasonable! I was so blown away by my sashimi appetizer that I actually snapped a photo, I have never done that in my life , the tempura was perfect, I would have taken more pictures however I was too busy enjoying myself eating and watching the chefs artistry pass by my table ....from bonsai trees to boats and the staff was wonderful, this was my first time but I cant wait to go back.

Oh man, this place is awesome! Without a doubt, Wasabi is the best restaurant in Hernando County. I think its amazing that we have a restaurant that is this good in our town. I love Wasabi. The food is great, and the service is great too! Everything looks amazing, and the plating is fantastic. The Sushi is to die for, and the salads are fantastic. I get the Golden Philly Roll every time, its amazing. The Seaweed Salad is also absolutely amazing. 10/10

Sitting here enjoy our food as always and reading the reviews. Unfortunately I just lost a piece of pink girl roll to the ground when I read the review sometimes I would get food posin and sometimes I wouldnt. Sorry read it to our table and they all laughed at that review because sometimes would be enough not to come back. Just Saying oh and we too have been coming here since it has open with no sickness to complain about.

Whats better than hand freshly rolled on your face Sushi? Nothing... Ivan (our bar cook),was inspiring to watch work. Ethical, romantic, artistic and with taste. This place has a fair price for Sushi as well, so if you happen to pass by this little town dont bother to go anywhere else. Actually, do you know whats better? Japanese cuisine made by Chinese in Americanese Restaurant(nese)... 6 out of 5 to this place.

I didnt want to leave a bad review but I look at reviews when i try to find a nice place to eat and if your like me you should know about there dirty dining reports. I moved from NY and and was so excited to find a Japanese place that had great reviews and i loved there food. I went there every weekend. Until i went on lunch break and there were baby roachs crawling all over the sushi counter. Gross never again.
